Probably not because modern country is just bad pop music with guitar instead of synths.

EDIT: In response to pedal steel in modern country.
My bus driver plays it in the morning. I'm being totally honest I don't hate it, the music is catchy. Too bad the lyrics are positivley horendous, every single time.

zabbit82 01-25-2006 08:43 PM
Ya, Can't You Hear Me Knocking rocks, although I'm not big on horns in any songs, and the horn solo is :S
My bus driver has it on the Oldies station. It's pretty good, sometimes a Beatles song will be on. Other then that, it's mostly the chart toppers back then. 1 hit wonders and such.

np: Brokedown Palace

Amazing.

Krabsworth 01-25-2006 08:44 PM

Dang how long did you guys argure with that guy? About two hours ago I went afk and it was at page 143...

zabbit82 01-25-2006 08:47 PM

I saw it was about three pages. 1.5 pages into it I kinda stopped laughing and labeled it lame.

It musta been good while it lasted :)

JonG 01-25-2006 08:47 PM

An hour after I got home from school, I went into the living room, and sat there. I ended up passing out for 30 minutes.

I hate that.

We used to have the local Classick Rock station on. It was great because when I got on it would be right around the time Breakfast with The Beatles aired, so we always caught some good ones. No matter what's playing tough, I dance to it.

Good song.

Wtf DMV?

I love the oldies station here its the only station I listen to it always plays like the Association and those type bands. Association rock, Windy is a great song.

I came home from school with an upset stomach and extremely tired, i went home, put on some ELP and fell asleep for a while.

NP: Yes - Starship Trooper (live)

BigTrav415 01-25-2006 08:58 PM

I'd say modern counrty exploits the lap steel to the point of making it uncool.

Guys, I'm half-glad that the whole Mr. X thing is over, but I really think we need to lay off some of the less tasteful jokes. I don't mean jokingly flaming him, I mean saying really disrespectful or distasteful stuff. I remember for example that one time a guy came in here for the first time, was ery polite and smar, but said that he disliked some of the radical political messages by people like Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel or something. Immediately, some jerk responds with "Well, looks like we've got a disgruntled Vietnam vet on our hands." In all honesty, I can say that I've never heard a crueler or more ignorant thing to say to anyone. Even if it was a joke. Talk about disrespecting your fellow man. I don't think the guy ver even came back. Seriously, lay off some of the meaner jokes, unless you really think it's not that bad.

Yesterday, while I was doing my Pre-Calc homework at about 7, I had this upset stomach, and blazing headache. I fell asleep from 8 - 6. It felt horrible, but I got some good sleepage for school.

But Starship Trooper makes things feel better

I can never get into Yes, I try to listen to some but end up getting bored for some reason and changing the song usually after a while. I guess I'm just not a prog rock kinda guy.

JonG 01-25-2006 09:05 PM

I shared a link with WelcomeToTheMachine. It had 25 Yes albums. I managed to get in a few of my choice before the site went down.

:P

Ya, internet is serious business.

zabbit82 01-25-2006 09:07 PM

Man... I could use that link....

BigTrav415 01-25-2006 09:08 PM

Sometimes I feel really bad about the whole YSI thing. I try to buy all my music, because I do feel bad about getting it without paying the artist, but then I always end up downloading YSI sendouts and caving in to Morpheus :( If I were a recording artist, I know I would be just as pissed about music stealing as Metallica and those bunch of freaks.
Ya, internet is serious business.
I didn't mean don't joke, I meant don't be a complete dick when it's uncalled for. I know that sometimes you have to fight fire with fire though.

It's never too bad to go to Guitar Center. I could live there, just playing all the cool weird-shaped acoustic stuff like the double-necked 6/12-string acoustic with a bunch of small sound-holes and screwing around with the effect pedal boards when the funky-smelling fat guy isn't sweating up the fretboard on the guitar I wanted to use.

What's funny is he closes out his last post with "Go suck on something."

THAT was low, and made me laugh hysterically.

You need to go to public school.

Carter Beauford is good, but I don't think he's astounding.

Edit: Guys in a time like this, I think we should all remember that it's just the interweb.

And I'd also like to congratulate those who took place in the group-owning. It's nice to have one of them every now and then.

Just kidding.

(But really.)

I don't think any one was serious, I mean I love Metallica and have massive (Okay not massive but some...) respect for Cliff Burton. But c'mon he died a funny way. Maybe I'm just insensitive.
You need to go to public school.

Of course I have heard worst stuff :p I just kind of got on a rant there. I don't know, whenever I hear people talk bad about Vietnam veterans or soldiers of any kind it makes me rage.

Beauford's cymbaling, especially live, is crazy, he does so many things at once I honestly can't keep up. It sounds like he has about six limbs to me when I listen, but then again I don't drum (yet), so I guess I can't truly understand exactly how good he is.

PinkFreud 01-25-2006 09:21 PM

beauford's the best thing about that band....which isn't saying much. he's good though.

dennis chambers could show him a thing or 5. mmm dennis chambers.

i also like weezer's drummer a lot. especiall on pinkerton.

/response to post about modern drummers.

Lunch 01-25-2006 09:21 PM

My friend has a Dvd of his that I watched one day. Again it was definitely good, but I didn't die from amazement. Plus DMB is annoying anyway so the music turns me off the drumming.

Freud: Chambers can show most drummers a couple things.

No, by tomorrow I'll be joking about Bonham choking on his own vomit. I really was just thinking about that Vietnam vet thing while I was reading all that stuff, and it kind of made me get the urge to rant. But then again I'm overly sensitive sometimes, so just ignore me.

Ya, I can see the Vietnam thing I guess but I'm so carefree I just laugh everything off.

Hm, Weezers drummer you say? I've never really heard anything that impressed me but Weezer is/was a great band back then so I wouldn't doubt it.
The guy from SOAD seems like he could bust out more stuff then he plays.

BigTrav415 01-25-2006 09:29 PM

I actually am usually really, really laid-back, like to the extreme degree, but I go through phases like this where I guess I get it all out of my system once in a very while.

I have Weezer's first album, I'm not really into it, alt/punk isn't really my genre, but I can see they are a talented band.

Haven't heard any SOAD.

MBS 01-25-2006 09:31 PM

I posted the thing about the Vietnam vet, and I don't regret it one bit. The guy didn't seem one bit intelligent, and his only post in this thread insulted The Doors.
I fuking hate the doors, or any other draft dodging SOB
Now, if he presented great opinions and maybe presented some insight, I wouldn't have said something like that, but he just insulted and flamed those who were merely trying to make their living playing music and were against the war.
