do you happen to know the average percentage that goes to the bigger time bands from concert sales?
Well, depending on the size of their show, wich effects crew size and tearup/down(stadium rental time increases) and number of road units. I actually live next to 2 major stadiums, one of wich is constently got major acts, haha the traffic sucks form it sometimes anyway.. So Anaheim stadium, the rolling stones came. I believe the fit just over 48,000 people in (including "floor" seating). Tickets started at $80, rumor was went up to $500 (vip/backstagepass, etc). Of course there's a much larger number of tickets as the price goes down. Say the average ticket price was $150 * 48,000 is $7,200,000. $7.2 million from 1 show. The rolling stones played 3 nights. That would be aprox $21 million in gross ticket sales. Now even if they only got 10% of that.. that's still 2.1 million from 3 nights in 1 stadium. My friend who works there, tells me it's $165,000 to rent the stadium for 1 day/night. That makes it only a little less then $600,000 for the 3 nights in the stadium. So guess who's making the money... DMB, the band members itself, made something like 21 million in 2.5 months during there '04 summer tour (i believe it was). Ever seen MTV Cribs on the way some of these rock/pop stars live? *BTW That's not counting in clothing sales at concerts. Wich make HUGE HUGE money. I've seen concert T-shirts go for as much as $65. The band prob had those t-shirts printed up for less then $5/shirt. Making for a MASSIVE profit margin. And they sell like mad. |
so i got a gig tonight, but its a acoustic set, so im bringin' my congas!

i was wrong went from 90 to 37 in 3 minutes :(
Well, if you were...INTELLIGENT, you might have thought that was a bad idea. What do most people do to homeless people begging for money on the street? NOTHING. No one wants to give money to someone who's begging for it, and the same for rep. |
Haha, so i woke up today and my dad wanted to go to brunch.
Good thing i didn't have a huge hangover.
weird... my grandpa's birthday was wedensday so we all went to this brunch thing at some golf course somewhere. so i also went to brunch. had to wear a collared shirt (which was incredibly uncomfortable but i had a bunch of people looking at me weird... i was wearing jeans and a studded belt and my adios with this black collared shirt and i popped the collar up for the hell of it). anyway it was like a breakfast buffet and then we got to order one thing off the menu to go with it. plus all the waiters were buff dudes named tad and chad and brock and stuff like that. i guess those rich old ladies like them some eye candy when they eat. |
^ Oh man....you popped your collar. Get out of this forum. :D

Dont we all! |
I give homeless people money, because they need it. A homeless guy is going to let 5 dollars go a lot farther than I will.
Magical internet rep on the internet on the otherhand isn't quite necessary, and begging for it is stupid. |
^ Oh man....you popped your collar. Get out of this forum. :D
actually it was pretty funny. it was kinda of a big collar so it was more like a fonzie thing than a preppy thing (like the brads and tads and chads that were waiting on us). but then my little brother and sister decided it would be funny to do exactly the same thing since i did it. so everyone was looking at us weird. |
