Moon was great none-the-less.

:)

BigTrav415 01-25-2006 08:14 PM

I personally think Bonham was miles ahead of Moon.

Probably the most infuential ever, yeah. I love him, but besting his playing is by no means impossible.

JonG 01-25-2006 08:16 PM

I never hear Bill Kreutzmann or Mickey Hart mentioned when talking about drummers. I think they might not be the best, but they fits the Dead so well.

MR. X 01-25-2006 08:17 PM

w/e you guys all suck im leaving this damn site and phallus dei u can go die, lol better than keith moon u guys crack me up!!! wow go suck something

BigTrav415 01-25-2006 08:17 PM

I think the best current drummer is the Dave Matthews Band drummer (don't know his name :-/ ) He's insane both technically and in terms of sheer talent and skill.

EDITY: He was kidding about the Keith Moon thing, retard! You have no sense of sarcasm whatsoever.

EDITY #2: And even if he's not kidding, it's still believable. Go suck a railroad spike.

I love the swooping, jungle rythm in the Live version of Uncle John's Band from WD. I definitley like their versatile array of D&P.

1) Don't challenge everyone
2) Learn to detect sarcasm
3) Quit trying to be a badass

You might actually enjoy it here, mister I named myself after an obscure Simpsons reference.

Oh shi, the Jomstanator in the CR thread. This is a pleasure!

Hey guys, I play bass.
:P

JonG 01-25-2006 08:25 PM

Black-Throated Wind on Dick's Picks 30 is amazing. I thought I was listening to Ace for awhile. It sounds exactly like it.

robo2448 01-25-2006 08:28 PM

Well the fun's over guys.

np- Can't You Here Me Knocking

Mick Taylor is great. I think this song has my favorite guitar work by him.

I really, really hate DMB with a passion, but Carter is a very good drummer.

Carson Palmer gets shafted in these best drummer conversations.

CARTER BEAUFORD!!!!! :)

Everytime I hear or see something live by DMB, I'm floored by the amount of talent he has. Many a time I think he's just as good as the classic rock drummer gods (Bonzo, Keith Moon, etc...). Carter is definatly one of my favorite drummers :)

And Mr X has gotta lighten up on that argument. I'm gonna go check three pages back and see if it's worth laughing about...

JonG 01-25-2006 08:33 PM

My favorite new talent is definately Robert Randolph. Bringing pedal-steel somewhat back into mainstream. Hasn't been done since Jerry :\

And besides bluegrass and country.

Jacaranda 01-25-2006 08:34 PM

I really like the drummer from teh Mars Volta, um John Theodore or something.

Ya, Can't You Hear Me Knocking rocks, although I'm not big on horns in any songs, and the horn solo is :S

TheDMV 01-25-2006 08:35 PM

Well neither GD of Randolph are really mainstream, but Country and especially bluegrass aren't at all mainstream.

Does modern country use the pedal steel? I don't think I've ever really heard any.

wtf Jacaranda?

Whats not to love about The Mars Volta.

?is ironically wearing a Volta T-shirt.

JonG 01-25-2006 08:39 PM

Yeah, country sometimes uses pedal steel. I know a person, who was 3rd place in a contest to play pedal steel for Shania Twains band.

np: Mexicali Blues

I love the lyrics.

magicbus 01-25-2006 08:39 PM

Probably not because modern country is just bad pop music with guitar instead of synths.

EDIT: In response to pedal steel in modern country.
