avoiding to comment on the unnecessary name-calling, I just wanted to say that Communism is not Liberalism. they are two extremely different philosophies. Communists will probably hate Liberals and vice versa. j/s. |
Communism has always been considered to be leftist you maroon.
EDIT: @ christsimpson
the left/right model is outdated by a century or so. and it doesn't matter if Communism is on the left side. it still doesn't have anything in common with liberalism. |
I can't tell if you're serious or trying to troll me.
|
you have to be a political major or something else retarded to actually claim that the left/right model has *any* merit whatsoever. as for your comparison of Communism and Liberalism... well that's the stereotypical American ignorance which no doubt annoys the sorry few Americans with an IQ over 80.
edit: also by your left/right model, social democrats and anarchists are the same. plz 2 explain how this is in any way relevant, correct or anything but stupid. plz 2 explain. plz. |
lol typical snooty European tbh.

I said Communism isn't Liberalism. you said Communism is leftist and thus Liberalism. consequently this means you advocate the left/right model and believe that Communism and Liberalism is the same thing. both of which is completely wrong. |
the left right model is more than just left, right, and center. just an fyi. i would say liberalism and communism both fall on the left side of the spectrum but they obviously arent the same thing.
|
the left/right model was designed to put political ideologies on a bar because it's easier to remember them. it's like the love/fear model in Donnie Darko. it's lol. even the political compass identifies that e.g. political and economic freedom isn't the same. but in the left/right model two vaguely different versions of anarchism might be on total opposites of the bar, for no apparent reason really. it's stupid.
liberalism is authoritarian and Capitalist. how is this leftist? in most modern interpretation State Socialism is "leftism". which is just as silly really, seeing as how that's authoritarian and Capitalist as well... but Liberalism? come on. |
classical liberalism =/= contemporary liberalism dumbass
|
classical liberalism =/= contemporary liberalism dumbass
Liberalism is just a stupid misused term thrown around without any real meaning behind it. but all the ideologies, philosophies and theories that have ever been associated with "Liberalism" are authoritarian and Capitalist. |
k christsimpson is now on my ignore list also
|
i wonder if i can add myself to the ignore list...
|
if you're too good a poster for everyone here why don't you just **** off

true but thats not what people mean when they say "liberal" in american politics its been this way for about 70 years or so over here. liberal = democrat/left conservative = republican/right i know its been flip-flopped from its original meaning, but you can't deny that this is how its used |
oh yeah in the US I'm sure. it's still blatantly wrong as ****. stupid people will also use call pointless Jew bashing "Nazism" or chaos "Anarchism", throwing around different terms they have no clue as to what they really mean. this doesn't make it correct though. not at all. just more stupid.
edit: also are you arguing that democrats are left and republicans right and that Communism is akin to the democrats/that the democrats are Communists? if so: I am intrigued. a lot. |

edit: also are you arguing that democrats are left and republicans right and that Communism is akin to the democrats/that the democrats are Communists? if so: I am intrigued. a lot.
of course theyre technically bastardizing the term, but its just easiest to use these words under the context of american politics. also, you're thinking of the left-right spectrum as a linear, horizontal spectrum. i view it more of a non-linear, vertical and horizontal continuum. while communists and american democrats are both left (given the context of american politics) and do have some convergence points in ideology, they arent the same, or even linearly connected. |
left/right scale is just used for easier classification. That is to say, an ideology who is left has more in common with other 'left' ideologies than 'right' ones. This doesn't mean all left ideologies are the same.
Liberalism is only vaguely related to communism, even in the American sense of the word. and for good measure SOCIALISM RULZ \m/ |
socialism does ruleeeee
and lol this is what it looks like when i read this thread http://i46.tinypic.com/mrwrae.jpg |
