31 minute Playing In The Band>
This is a good album(s). |
Is it the Grateful Dead Movie sountrack?
|
Well those goddam Conservatives, against abortion rights, against gay sex rights, against marijuana decriminalization. They are trying to control everything in our lives. I should be able to marry whoever the hell I want.
I know you feel... I still can't believe I have to endure almost three more years of Bush. Good luck with Roundabout, Welcomtothemachine. Everyone is Yes is a god. |
Yea, if you don't like to play with a pick (like myself)
oooh, tough guy :p |
I know you feel... I still can't believe I have to endure almost three more years of Bush.
Ha. We were talking about Bush in history class today. Hilary Clinton called him the worst American president ever. I wouldn't go that far... I mean Andrew Johnson pretty much did all he could to screw us over after the Civil War and Ulysses S. Grant was just a drunk and led the most corrupt administration ever. But Bush is pretty bad. I dunno, I despise John Kerry too, and Ralph Nadar is kind of a douchebag. So in other words, politics suck. We need somebody like Tim Leary as president. That'd be awesome. Or it would suck because I wouldn't want the whole country in the hands of somebody constantly tripping on acid, but it would still be pretty cool. I'm pretty sure Leary actually did run for like governor of California or something, because he asked Lennon to write him a campaign song (which turned out to be Come Together). I think Yes is one of the most talented bands ever. And I'm not even a really big Yes fan. |
There's also the chanc of us going to war with the States now.
 That would be terrible! World War III coming up soon? I think so. Edit: My guitarist Derek (Fnnrqwin) says he doesn't want to compete in the talent show this year because every hardcore band at our school would win. Our school's majority consists of kids who are into hardcore/emo and rap. If we do enter, I'm really worried about playing with my friend's band. They're REALLY good, and he's a good guitarist. |

yes, you should ;) OH and I rarely use picks too. |
Is it the Grateful Dead Movie sountrack?
Yeah. |

If you get booed, finish the song strongly, create loads of feedback, and pull out a Billie Joe cardboard life size model and kick it in two. Then play Casey Jones. |
Yeah.
Called it based on song length. Haha. I've never been too big on Playing In the Band. I wish they picked another song to extend that long. It's good and all, but not one of the highlights for a Dead live show for me. |

Or just pull a Pete Townsend and beat the living shit out of everything with your guitar. np- Pigs (by Les Claypool's Frog Brigade. It's actually really good. I don't like Primus, but this is a good album. They cover Animals). |

Now i have the image of a band with green day cutouts in front of them, them kicking them in half and playing casey jones, that would be THE greatest moment ever. I would so do that if i could find the cutouts:p |

(about playing in the band) Today I broke out the 2-11-1970 Dark Star>Spanish Jam>Turn on Your Lovelight That has got to be one of my favourite live Dead moments of all time. I'm sure I've told you about it before though. Its the one with the Allman Brothers, Peter Green and Arthur Lee all joining the Dead on stage for those three songs. Turn on Your Lovelight is a hefty 35 minutes. It is also Dick's Picks vol.4 but I only have the Bootleg version.:( |
You never sent that one to me
|
Playing in the Band off of Hundred Year Hall is my favorite Dead song. Well the whole album is really, its rare that I listen to the album with out listening to the whole thing, but if I only have time for one or two songs Playing in the Band is usually one of them.
|

I sent those three songs out. :( It's on my iPod though, and although I haven't got that program to resore my music I will get it soon and upload that show for you. |

I need to get Hundred Year Hall, I heard it was great. Plus Cryptical Evelopment/The Other One is 37 minutes. I love the Other One. Livewired: That would be awesome man. |
I'm listening to The Other One right now :o
It's almost over though, next up is... Spanish Jam. I was recently looking at the later members of the Dead and didn't know them besides Hornsby. |

Livewired: That would be awesome man.
Thats really the album that turned me into a Dead Head. It was one of those albums that right from the first couple chords played your hooked on the album and the band for that matter. I remember when I was really into it I wanted to try to get all of the Dicks Picks albums, I got a good number of them but I got into Bob Dylan a couple months latter and that project got put on hold. |
They have it used at a local CD shop for $14 I think, sounds like a good deal to me.
|
Do you still have that 'wing?
I'm interested. I'm in that stage now, I've listened to all the studio albums, I'm collecting Dick's Picks and live albums now. |
Yea, I'd be interesting in some of those DPs too.
I really like the bonus tracks on Aoxomoxoa. The jams are great. |

I can't listen to (or upload unfortunetly) them now though, they are all on my ipod and its broken :upset: |
I think Maggie's Farm is a great song, one of my favorites by Dylan.
Does anybody here have any Dick's Picks besides 1,12, and 18? :) I had to swim today for gym class. My hair smells like chlorine. /bored
I wish I got to swim for gym :-/ Krabs, I agree, gym point is pretty class. Especially that square dancing bullshit.
I should be able to marry whoever the hell I want.
/insert childish gay joke The Conservatives are the suck. np: The Mars Volta - Cicatriz Esp |
were probbaly the only school in our area who plays dodgeball, appearently its banned, my gym teacher is real awesome about it, tommorow im bringing in my zappa and Dead cds, hes a real big fan of both, so dodgeball+Zappa x Dead = ****ing awesome.
|
I love Maggie's Farm it is one of the best songs about non conformity. The best version of it is the at the Newport Folk Festival IMO.
|
We play dodgeball in our school, but it's pretty lame.
I wish I got to swim for gym :-/
Me too. Near the end of the year, the chicks get to swim. I wish I was there. :upset: |

Me and some friends were walking down the street on the weekend around nine at night. We were talking about shows we wish we could have seen, and I mentioned the Dead. Without thinking, I blurted out "Dude, I ****ing love the Dead!" Awkward++ |
We play dodgeball in our school, but it's pretty lame.
We get to play dodgeball at my school, but we have to use these little puffy balls that you can barely throw. It's pretty lame, I miss the days where you could peg people in the face with kickballs. NP: The Stones - Let It Loose |
We arn't allowed to play dodge ball at my school, someone might get hurt .
NP - Sabbra Cadabra (Black Sabbath) |
