I_WEAR_RED_PANTS 04-09-2009 05:49 AM

when i first read that i thought it said microwave

gaslight 04-10-2009 01:04 AM

What does a green screen cost?

Does anyone want to search the internet for me? I can't find a book I was reading about on wikipedia (not even on wikipedia again) and it's driving me insane. If you can find it for me, I will admit that you are better at the internet than I am.

EDIT: Scratch that, I found it really early in my search without realising it. Don't worry.

Aaron 04-10-2009 01:32 AM

Had coffee with Evan and Phil today. Was quite civilized and unlike us, lol. Ended up going home last night as family plans changed and wrote four songs last night and two this afternoon. Mostly for the purpose of use in the score/soundtrack to the film [haz]. I guess you'd describe them as black-metal-cum-post-rock with IDM aspects.

gaslight 04-10-2009 02:02 AM

What film?

Meatplow 04-10-2009 03:57 AM

aaron wants to score a short film I make. sounds tight, man. have to check it out, i've been working of my own ambient stuff

Man... story time

Last night, I went over to my neighbour's to play guitar and stuff and this weird guy was visiting. I've seen him before, but not like this. He was drinking some cheap scotch and talking about how he met this girl at a course 2 years ago. It pretty much sounded like he was stalking her because she called the police on him. Anyway, he still isn't over it and kept saying he was going to call her.

After a while he started talking about going out to try meet some girls at the pub or wherever. Then he had the idea of going to the strip club. He had his shoes there but he asked me to lend him some socks. I refused.

Then after he realized that wasn't going to happen, he was saying about hookers he has been with.. we were just thinking WTF. So he found a newspaper called up a hooker he has been with before to go to my neighbour's place. Neighbour wasn't too impressed about all this, but strangely, he didn't care enough to stop him asking her there.

So half an hour later she turns up, looks about 45 years old, but was probably younger, like the last threads of her soul had been torn away years ago. I just kept playing guitar with neighbour, jamming to this dodgy midi version of Sultans of Swing that sounded like one you'd hear from an RSL club one-man cover band w/drum machine. The sound was coming from a computer in one room, but also through speakers in the lounge room. The guitars were also rigged up to this sound setup.

Anyway, weird guy and hooker go into the computer room, which also has a spare bed, close the door. Neighbour and I just shake our heads and say stuff about throwing the sheets out, etc, then kept playing the song. The song was the only midi song we put on that night, overlaid with dodgy amatuer guitar, so it probably couldn't have been a more tacky situation.

Two minutes later, the couple emerge, fully clothed. She looked pissed off and said to us "Your mate's got no money. I don't have time for this, I have another job in an hour" and then she left. Apparently he only had $10 on him and he asked her to take him to the ATM first so he could get cash out. More WTF.

Anyway, after that, he stopped doing such stupid stuff. Still, that had to one of the most pathetic and corrupted displays I've ever seen from a human being. I'll try to avoid him from now on.

In better news, I hooked up my guitar to the computer and got the sound card working with ASIO support so I can add realtime effects (I loooove effects), amp modelling, recording, and whatever else I can think up.

gaslight 04-11-2009 10:27 PM

Haha wow, what a failure at life.

Should have done them both a favour and let them share a bullet and a shallow suite at the outback motel.

blueyxd 04-11-2009 10:32 PM

That actually sounds humane.

Awesomely dark line, too. Is that from anything in particular? Sounds like it could be out of a Bird Blobs song.

gaslight 04-11-2009 10:35 PM

I'm not actually sure if it's from anything. I was thinking of the phrases "dirt nap"/"shallow grave" etc and just went from there. Your post was definitely the longest we've seen in here for a while.

horseypie 04-11-2009 10:39 PM

this place is definitely lacking mega posts

and that was a good story :D

gaslight 04-11-2009 10:41 PM

I hate creepy dudes like that hey. I'm obsessed with keeping girls I know safe from those types. I know some sweet chicks but to be honest most of them aren't smart enough to take care of themselves in real life.

horseypie 04-11-2009 10:47 PM

i dont really know many creepy dudes like that hey
not seedy ones like that
and i dunno, most of the chicks i know are pretty streetwise. although now i think of it some are definitely airheads

do you guys like bon iver? i really likee the song 'woods', where he basically repeats a lyrcs but layers his voice over top of itself all the time while using that autotune thing on his voice
its a really cool song
