You forgot to add the "Axl" in between your forename and surname in the final paragraph, just letting you know.
Wasn't me (which is rather obvious), but ok. What's the difference? |
Satanic Warmaster are alright, I've had Carelian Satanist Madness for a while and it has it's moments... but overall it's really boring. Like... boring.
Satanic Boremaster. |
Terrible name, tries to be kvlt by adding LLN symbols into his logo.
|
What LLN symbols?
|
I used to think SW's logo was cool, but then I realized that it's just really over the top, super cheesy, and basically just lame in general.
|
Most black metal logos are.
Way to kill the black metal thread.
It wasn't my immaturity that killed the thread. Anyway, anyone else have anything by Besatt? I'm listening to Black Mass atm and it speaks to my bowels in the same way that Nattefrost does, even though most of their material is a little more technical than I'm used to. Win in any case. |
They're not horrible but extremely generic and have the typical Eastern European sound. The album in question just sounded like a Gorgoroth clone to me.

Clone bands (e.g., I Shalt Become) don't always bother me as long they sound halfway decent. |
I just much rather listen to an original album by a better band instead of listening to some clone band attempt to recreate the same album. I don't expect it to be totally original all the time but a lot of these bands are going too far with the clone thing.

Clone bands are ****
other than craft |
Elffor are pretty decent as a 'clone' band IMO.
|
never heard of em before

theyre grim

I bet.
never heard of em before
They're kind of a clonish band of Summoning, but I like them. Their awesomest track by far is The Lonely Mountain off the album Into the Dark Forest..., with this, like, awesomely drab medieval-sounding start—nearly monophonic—that eventually joins in with a trumpet fanfare and epic chant-screaming towards the end. You'd have to hear it. I prefer atmospheric / folk / tree-shagging Elf black metal to the classic material, so I can be pretty clueless about that. I agree about Craft tho; I actually prefer Craft over Darkthrone tbqh. |

Most of their arrangements and melodies are terrible and sound like Zelda music to me, very incompetent. They really don't pull of that style well. Godkiller - The Rebirth of the Middle Ages is the only album that comes to mind that does. |

I don't mind clone bands as long as they sound good. It's hard to escape clone bands to, when every band is cloning either Burzum, Mayhem, or Darkthrone pretty much to some extent. Well, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but it seems that way half the time.

That's the point: I like Zelda music. I'm looking up Godkiller though atm, looks good. |
Summoning pwns a lot of bands tho. I always feel like im in an elven forest when i listen to summoning. I enjoy it :)
|
Summonings latest album was amazing, and I think pretty much every release has been solid and fitting for their atmosphere. Definitly inspirational, and if a band clones them and can pull it off, I have no problems with that. Definitly an amazing sound.

Land of the Dead is probably the most epic song ever written since the end of the Baroque period. EDIT - lol, I didn't see previous post before hitting submit |
Rivendell is another good folky-symphonic black metal band. Recommended.
|
lol

I wish I could rep you again. :p |
Rivendell destroys Summoning or any Tolkien band. Best clean vocals ever.

Nah, dude ... notice that your rep recently increased five bars. (Use the ugly orange forum theme to see.) |
Haha, alright. Something memorably stupid then? lol, I dunno. I thought the band was dope when I first listened to them. Havn't listened to them recently, cause they're buried in my DVD-discs filled with downloaded materials that I have to scour one of these days again, but from what I remember they were good in comparison to what I was expecting.
