Illmatic 05-12-2005 10:22 PM

Her name is Mabel, if that counts for anything.

Bartender 05-12-2005 10:25 PM

Not really. Apart from my proctorial group, I don't know the names of any of the people in my classes, except the one I live with (Chris) and the hippy who seems determined to be the epitome of "student" (Tommy).

Illmatic 05-12-2005 10:29 PM

Don't even know the names of your classmates?

For shame.

Jom 05-12-2005 10:34 PM

Pshht, I didn't know any of my classmates' names save for my honors class, but that's because there were twenty people in it.

That, and I just didn't care about anyone else. I wasn't at uni to make friends.

Good night, 'Tender.

So, how many of you like to go bowling from time-to-time? I just got back with my dad. He won the 50-50 raffle... half of it went to prostate cancer research (the sports talk radio station was there sponsoring it and will be there until 6PM tomorrow), and the other half went to him. I bowled like crap, with just a high game of 183. The other games I'd rather not mention :-\

Holy wilikers that's a huge file.

Bowling is pretty fun, I guess. I never take it seriously though. Shit, sometimes I'll use bumpers for the hell of it. I don't think I've ever bowled over 130. :-\

I'm digging the new av/usertitle Jimmy.

I'm glad you do, not many people have been very fond of it since a) they're accustomed to the dog avatar and/or b) they don't know where he's from.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-12-2005 11:18 PM

In my english class, we started reading To Kill a Mockingbird. So far, it's pretty wicked.

I'm 5 chapters in. :p I like it so far, though.

Dancin' Man 05-13-2005 05:20 AM

I liked To Kill a Mockingbird quite a bit. I hate all writings by John Stienbeck more than any other author ever. Maybe that's an exaggeration but I just can't get myself to actually read those books. Every 5 pages I need a break.

Current book - A Clockwork Orange
It is so confusing but a good read once you figure out what's going on. I haven't seen the movie because I wanted to read it first. It's taking me a while to get through this one. What with the made up words and all.

ArcLite 05-13-2005 05:25 AM

Was To Kill a Mockingbird the one with Boo Radley? If so, that was indeed a good one. Heh, Clockwork Orange...Never read the book, but the movie is about as fucked up as they come.
Don't even know the names of your classmates?

I know the important ones (the ones I'm in my main proctorial/tutorial groups with, because I meet them twice a week). There are dozens of others though, some that I've only met with three or four times in total, so I don't know them.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-13-2005 06:17 AM

I am currently studying King Lear, I actually have a speech i need to start on it.... :(

I read that last year, it was pretty good.

Good morning, everyone. My english teacher's going nuts  I don't know why.

The bleeding of my tortured emo soul is not made public for your entertainment, churl.

That said, I would have thought you'd have voted in the competition by now.

The computers here have no speakers. Therefore I cannot hear what comes out from the audio files. Therefore I cannot vote for the winner. Therefore I suck.

Jom, that was pretty fricken' fruity.

Happy birthday, shortass. You piece of crap, you.

Jom 05-13-2005 11:15 AM

Jake, I was waiting for any excuse to make a really goofy birthday wish for someone on MX, so it might as well have been you. I started working on it when I saw your MSN handle, before I signed on to MX.

ICB, don't be drinkin' the Haterade when it comes to birthday wishes Sesame Street style, foo'.

Yeah, but people are usually kind enough in this particular thread to read and give feedback, be it either on MX or the sister site

:(

Jake: good list "thus far" :)

Bartender 05-13-2005 12:12 PM

I haven't heard anything by Memento (despite The Joz's reviews of them on the old site), so I can't really comment. It's a well-written review, though.

MXican - happy birthday :)

Would you like me to upload you some? It'll take me awhile on this connection, but I'd be perfectly fine with it, if you can wait a bit.

Thanks for the kind words, though. :)

EDIT for Med:
Just out of interest, since I know a lot of regulars in here aren't really that regular on sputnik, even though some of you did a lot in the old forum, is there anything you can think of that would make you go back there? I'm just curious, as I feel responsible for it (in an Internet sort of way), and want opinions. :-/
Remember this? I guess the numbers speak for themselves

I could bump it for you just in case people missed it the first time, but do you really want the numbers to widen out even moreso than they already are?

EDIT: Woohoo ! Three comments, two on Sputnik *pumps fist*

If you want to, then yeah, sure :) It might not be worth it though, since on my travels today I picked up a John Lee Hooker compilation which is holding my attention rather strongly.

At the moment, not really :-/

I chose my modules for next year, by the way, and today was the last day to change them, so as far as I know, they're set. I think I settled on;
Philosophy of Language
Modern Philosophy (Leibniz and Hume)
Political Philosophy
Introduction to Epistemology
Philosophy of Religion
Sartre and Nietzsche

/pointless

GurS 05-13-2005 12:41 PM
