Me and my bass player jam tonight... drummer can't make it though.

Oh well...

Magicaltroll 05-07-2005 11:05 AM
We have one of those. I've always wanted to work their. Seems like a fun job.
Hell yeah, always doing something with instruments.
Theres always this one guy that works there that whenever I go in there, hes always sitting there shredding or helping some of the kids out with stuff on guitar.

I hate it when stuff like that happens, to me, you can't have a good jam without the full band there :/ Hardly works out for me anyway.

Darkness 05-07-2005 11:08 AM

Acutually me and him having some one on one time isn't band, as we all live far away from eachother, but my drummer has internet and he doesn't, so me and my drummer acutually wrote a song over the internet and now me and my bass player have to work through it. (teaching him some riffs and what not)

Yeah, that works good I guess.
We can't really get anything done without all of us being there though. Because we like to get everyones input while doing the song. Not saying that your method isn't good, thats just the way we do it.

Moses 05-07-2005 11:28 AM

How do you do it over the internet? I mean unless both of you understand musical notation.

Darkness 05-07-2005 11:29 AM

Yeah, we would do it like that but its really hard for us all to get together, so this will have to do untill we can all drive. :thumb:

Edit: We go over msn, I come up with the song structure most of the time, send it to him after I record the whole song then he writes the drum beats and puts them over top then we see what needs changes and that kinda stuff. :) Then we fill in the bass player after. Were all dedicated but its just hard for us to get together.

What's a good recording method I'm going to start getting into that.

Darkness 05-07-2005 11:33 AM

I just record through my mic onto Audacity, send him the mp3, and then he writes his stuff then records it then sends it back to me and then I put it together.

Moses 05-07-2005 12:04 PM

What's a decent recording program that you could get off of Limewire.

Darkness 05-07-2005 12:05 PM

Why not just download audacity from downloads.com or something?

Moses 05-07-2005 12:08 PM

Alright, I'll do that.

/does that.

Moses 05-07-2005 12:10 PM

That was fast.

Magicaltroll 05-07-2005 12:41 PM

Audacity rules.
Too bad I can't use the effects and stuff :/
AJIG what did you think of I+W i meant to ask you before but kinda forgot...

Its better than Awake

Do you think JoZ noticed? I love Pull Me Under and Surrounded.

It sucks, so much good music bought in such a short period of time, and only so much time to properly listen to it

I don't like I+W at all really. Too soft for me :/
Good songs I guess, but I like the heavier DT.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-07-2005 02:07 PM

I guess im going through my soft period again. You know, the time where you would rather skip to Reflection instead of taking in The Grudge (relvant to thread part over)

Its Prog month for me anyway. Last month was clearly metal month from what I bought/listened to

Why is that?

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-08-2005 10:42 AM

I have been thinking a lot about The Grudge lately and who exactly it is about. I related it to Schism and in what ways the lyrics are similar and I came to the conclusion that they are about Romeo and Juliet. (shoot me)

If you have read the play, you should that the entire this is based on a grudge between the Montagues and the Capulets, and the entire town of Verona, Italy knows about their grudge ("Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity" which is saying make your grudge known.) The play is also about 2 "Supposed lovers." I'd go into further detail, but I'm sure if you've read the play that you'll see the similarities. I know it may sound somewhat faggy or whatever, but I really think that this is what the 2 songs are about. :D

April was prog month for me as well.

Words like "wear the grudge like a crown" and "scarlet lettermen" and "clutch it like a cornerstone" always remind me of that giant project that Blair and Danny Carey worked on on Danny's web site. The thing about the dead priest, Saunier.

Magicaltroll 05-08-2005 11:43 AM
Why is that?
Because I guess I have a trial version.
April was prog month for me as well.
This months prog month for me.

Dried Muffin Remnants 05-08-2005 11:50 AM

Prog month?

Edit: Tool owns! I was taken hostage by an evil banana! The other day I played guitar with my teeth!

Sorry, it was all I could up with to make an eventful 300th page post. :upset:

Adam Jones is GOD 05-08-2005 11:51 AM

Way to waste the 300th page post :p

Least it had prog in it

Magicaltroll 05-08-2005 11:51 AM

Where I listen to ALOT of progressive music.
It's a pretty cool month :D

April was prog month for me, too.

/missed window of opportunity.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-08-2005 05:14 PM

Right now, I am listening to RATM.

I have a feeling May is going to be badass 90s rock band month. :p

/busts out Incubus collection

Dude3 05-08-2005 05:17 PM

Nothing groundbreaking, but the opening page of Toolband.com is different, leading me to think that they are even closer to releasing their new album.

This is going to be Alternative month, I think.

I haven't been there in a while.

Moses 05-08-2005 09:47 PM

Does anyone know how I could get drums on Audacity without having to record them?

Edit: I really messed up my spelling and grammar on this one.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-08-2005 09:53 PM

I'm downloading Audacity right now. It seems that quite a few people use it, so it can't be too crappy. (Better than Goldwave, at least.)

Yeah, its not that bad.
I'd like to know how to get drums on some of my songs also.

Moses 05-08-2005 09:57 PM

Ok, I just asked in the Community Thread so hopefully I'll get an answer pretty soon.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-08-2005 10:01 PM

Once you get an answer, share the knowledge. I'm sure I will want drums at some point, but I'm a lazyass, and I don't really post there any more. :-/

Magicaltroll 05-08-2005 10:40 PM

Whats the community thread

/feels dumb

Huber 05-08-2005 10:42 PM

It's called "The Elephant Fresh Community Thread" or something like that now. All it is is a place to talk about random stuff.
