We appreciate the job you're doing, Chris.

This is not the only illegal thread people (not these particular people) have posted in. I remember a lot of them being bumped although this is against the rules :(

Iai 08-07-2005 03:50 PM

Because, aside from the ones we have, they're useless.

munky_magik 08-07-2005 03:50 PM
How come the Mods don't make ***Official*** THreads anymore
Because none have really been needed, and they segregate the forum.

EDIT: Curse you, Iai

Got em all, thanks Guys.

Mekkalayakay 08-07-2005 06:04 PM

I honestly hate official threads. Yes, they clear out unwanted threads, but other than that, they are just a major negative to me. They are just bundles and bundles of what appears to be the same information over again, and when a new user comes to post because he's never heard about the band, it's "stfu newb, this has been covered millions of times, read the thread".

In addition to that, I never learn anything new about these official thread bands. If they have a new album coming out, or somebody dies, nobody heres about it. Why? These threads have regulars that read these threads. And that's all. Just people who post in there every day. And there aren't a whole lot of them; compared to the number of people that post daily in the R&M forum.

It's more of a whiney rant than something I think the forum should really do without, but I just thought I'd express my thoughts.

My suggestion though: Only make an official thread when a major album comes out (if we get a lot of threads about the band) And when things calm down, close it down.

Like St. Anger.

Kingofdudes 08-07-2005 06:06 PM

The Pink floyd thread isnt anything like your rant, but I wouldnt mind the "Official" tag going away.
Itd suck big time for me if the off tool thread was closed
I agree. I like the official threads. I don't understand Mekk's complaint. If you're really interested in the bands that have official threads, which aren't that many, then you'd either: a) read the thread regularly, or b) know about a new album or big occurence from some other source and go into the official thread to talk about it.

RiceMonster 08-07-2005 09:07 PM

I don't think we should get rid of official threads in general, but I'd say t here are too many. There are the bands that for sure need them (such as Tool, and Metallica), but there are others who we never a had a ridiculous amount of threads for (such as Megadeth and Black Sabbath).

The R&M thread is more organized than all of the other YSI threads since it's the only one with updates.
is the AIM album trading thing Ilegal?
Technically yes, but since it is a private thing, the forums are not liable for damages. The reason the YSI thread is limited to single songs is because the forums are acting as a direct go-between. So, it is more of a reflection of the mods. Don't worry, the FBI aren't watching... Unless I summon them with the magic words: plastic firearm explosive

Mr. Black 08-08-2005 04:28 AM

Does anybody have a link to a site where I can find out new bands, Or tell me which bands to try, cos right now my music is really pissing me off, I just got into Tool and Metallica and i've got Undertow and Lateralus and AJFA and RTL but I need some newer bands, like unknown bands that I could try, And don't post a link to 'Broadening your musical tastes' cos The songs don't work on Ma PC THanks. Riva 08-08-2005 04:38 AM

Set up a trade on the forums, then go on AIM and trade with the person you set up the deal with. More information should be in the thread itself.
