Get on this band www.sinkingships.tk
Agreed.

StruckEverywhere 01-26-2005 07:25 PM

Yeah, I worded the question badly and there was a typo in there too. What I meant to say was, what album/demo/E.P is it from?

Rockafella 01-26-2005 07:28 PM
lol dont get hostile (unless you really are just 14 then ill understand.
Grrr. Well I am 13 wanna fight about it? :p

P.S.- Very handy walkthrough, who knew hardcore and metalcore were so confusing? *nurtures headache*

Let's Chop Cats! 01-26-2005 07:29 PM

It's from a tribute album to Prince called Purple Pain.
It's from a tribute album to Prince called Purple Pain.
Thanks oh master of Refused, I had no idea. It's such an amazing song.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 01-26-2005 08:07 PM

Buried Alive are awesome.

NewKindofArmy03 01-26-2005 08:10 PM

Yeah, I wanna pick up one of their CDs.

The song State of Mind by Figure Four is awesome. I don't think they're better then CBK(like a lot of people think), but they're really good.

cbmartinez 01-26-2005 08:34 PM

Are you seeing Envy tomorrow?

Figure Four is the one with the Chinese chick, no?

NewKindofArmy03 01-26-2005 08:36 PM

Nah, i'm not going, are you?

And yeah, Figure Four is the one with the Chinese chick. The guy who does the back up vocals in CBK is their vocalist.

cbmartinez 01-26-2005 08:38 PM

I'm still bugging my parents but it doesn't lookd good. They say I need to go with someone and no one wants to go. Stupid Underoath pussies. My friend is seeing Bright Eyes in Philly tomorrow, maybe I can get a ride from her.

Is Figure Four hardcore? Also, has anyone heard Twelve Tribes?

NewKindofArmy03 01-26-2005 08:41 PM

I only have their last release, Suffering the Loss. It's borderline, but i'd probably call it hardcore.

40 oz 2 freedom 01-26-2005 08:41 PM

Twelve Tribes sucks.

cbmartinez 01-26-2005 08:44 PM

I recognized there name on the Ferret site. I think I'll still check 'em out.

F4 is so good live man.

NewKindofArmy03 01-26-2005 08:59 PM

I have a video of them playing, it's pretty good.

BuddyBigsby 01-26-2005 09:45 PM

I need to check out that site. I also need to get a record player :upset:

Silvermedalmafia 01-26-2005 09:54 PM

I have a record player that I use for my parents albums and obscure albums I couldn't find elsewhere.

40 oz 2 freedom 01-26-2005 09:55 PM

That site is way cheap too. On interpunk that would of cost like $75.

heyimsheep1 01-26-2005 11:40 PM

this has probly been answered already but i dont feel like going thru 300 pages. whats a breakdown? i hear some of my friends saying they only go in the pit during the breakdown....

57%_Raw 01-27-2005 07:50 AM

wow, i just read through 299 pages of this thread (my highlight for school holidays) and it has got to be the most accurate and comprehensive hardcore/metalcore description i have seen. the bands u hav listed here are brilliant, and the whole community spirt was great to see. ya i dont really kno y im posting...oh yer, does anyone here like Clearing Autumn Skies? i got it tha otha day and think its rather swell.

SickOnTheBusYouCunt 01-27-2005 08:32 AM

I gave my parents this epic speech today about how I need to go.

"This show was made just for me. The pinnacle of my life is right in front of me and I'm reaching out to grab it but I can't."

Then came the crying, etc.

NewKindofArmy03 01-27-2005 02:25 PM

Hahaha, you cried for it? So what'd they say?

cbmartinez 01-27-2005 02:41 PM

My dad would maybe let me go cause he would to Chinatown or some shit. But I don't think my mom is down with it.

BuddyBigsby 01-27-2005 04:03 PM

I remember those days. Being 18 and having a license and a job rules.

cbmartinez 01-27-2005 04:13 PM

Maybe I should steal my parents car!

Let's Chop Cats! 01-27-2005 04:14 PM

Having a license to my mom still means I need permission to ask to go places. The price I pay for her covering my gas expenses.

BuddyBigsby 01-27-2005 04:19 PM
Maybe I should steal my parents car!
Hasn't this thread taught you anything? Real men steal their own cars.

BuddyBigsby 01-27-2005 04:20 PM

Happy 300th page everybody!!!!!

Let's Chop Cats! 01-27-2005 04:21 PM

This is probably the biggest thread still generally on the same topic.

40 oz 2 freedom 01-27-2005 04:42 PM
this has probly been answered already but i dont feel like going thru 300 pages. whats a breakdown? i hear some of my friends saying they only go in the pit during the breakdown....
The breakdown of a song tends to be a part where all of the instruments slow down and play some sort of repeating riff. In hardcore, it's not that obvious to tell when the breakdown is, but in metalcore, it's quite obvious. Everything dramatically slows down and you get this dun dun dun dun (or jud jud jud--whichever you prefer) sound from the guitars... usually it goes into a neener neener after...

during most breakdowns you can find yourself nodding your head as if you were listening to hip hop.

that's probably not that great of an answer, but listen to "Red Wedding" by the Bled for an example of a breakdown in metalcore... listen to "all in a year" or "changing face" by Comeback Kid for an example of a breakdown in hardcore.

CONNER_NWHC 01-27-2005 07:07 PM

Someone should tab out Wake The Dead.

I have the intro tabbed if you want.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 01-27-2005 07:55 PM

I would like that very much.

cbmartinez 01-27-2005 08:12 PM

Okay, it's going to come out messy, so just copy + paste onto Notepad.
