A sustainer pickup actually drives the string so you can hold a note forever.
oh cool. i'll have to look into those

infernalhaze66 06-30-2006 09:48 PM

The sustainers go for a few hundred dollars though right?

Amit 06-30-2006 10:01 PM

forget all that and google michael brook

or here i'll save you the trouble
INFINITE GUITAR WISDOM

Michael Brook's Tokai Stratocaster guitar is fitted with an IVL Pitchrider 7000 MkIII pitch-to-MIDI convertor and Digitech Mark IV guitar-to-MIDI interface, triggering a whole battery of MIDI equipment and sample/delay boxes.

The main delays that he uses for looping are the Electro-Harmonix Memoryman and the Bel BD80S delay/sampler. Other equipment that he currently uses for live gigs includes six volume pedals (to adjust the volume of the various loops, plus the level of his infinite and normal guitar output), Eventide H3000 Harmonizer/multi-effects, Electro-Harmonix fuzz, Electro-Harmonix 16-second delay, Yamaha GE10N graphic EQ, Yamaha TX802 FM tone module, Korg OVD-1 overdrive, Sansamp amp simulator, DOD 280 compressor, and a Rocktron Relay Switcher.

The 'infinite guitar' is a famous invention by Michael Brook, that is essentially his superior answer to the E-Bow. It gives the guitarist infinite sustain, with a controllable breaking point where the guitar goes into screaming overtone feedback. Unlike the E-Bow, it does not require the guitarist to hold any devices, and with both hands free great expressiveness can be achieved. Wishing to maintain the mystique, Brook is reluctant to discuss exact technical details, but apparently the infinite guitar works electronically, rather than mechanically, by feeding some of the output of his Tokai Strat back into the guitar.

To date, Brook has made two other copies of his infinite guitar system: one is owned by U2's guitarist The Edge, the other by producer/musician Daniel Lanois.
So, the sustainers that have two humbucker things, one humbucker driver thing and one active humbucker pickup.....
1. How are the cleans on em?
2. Will I have to give up one of my pickup positions for the sustainer driver thing to fit?

Because I have that new Talman..... :naughty:

infernalhaze66 06-30-2006 10:05 PM
Just found a Sonic Maximizer 362 locally for $30, good deal correct? Would this be good to use with guitar?
Anyone?

Nick 06-30-2006 10:06 PM

I want his rig...

mnemonic 06-30-2006 10:08 PM
Anyone?
they're like 100 new, so yes

Amp'd 06-30-2006 10:09 PM

Wow what and awesome rig.

infernalhaze66 06-30-2006 10:12 PM

Is this the best model to get for guitar? And I imagine this goes in the effects loop right?

Amp'd 06-30-2006 10:17 PM

Yeah the 362 is for guitar.

Used666 06-30-2006 10:20 PM

Man for once im actually happy with my guitar rig....

Because I have that new Talman..... and the bridge pickup on it sucks, and the neck could use some more balls too... Though they already beat my Strat, Schecter, and Les Paul, they could def. be better.

Soul_Under_Arrest 06-30-2006 10:21 PM

I'm happy with my rig but defiantly far from my ideal rig.

Nick 06-30-2006 10:23 PM

how'd you get banned again?

anyway I'm pretty sure only the neck pup is replaced, and on one of the sustainiacs it can be used as a pup when it's off

I am completely not happy with my rig

doublepost0rz 06-30-2006 10:24 PM

"post bumping"

Anyways, the Sustainer has a single coil pickup and humbucker looking thing with it.

I dunno what's what, and where a single coil would go?

Nick 06-30-2006 10:27 PM

check out fernandes

I'm positive you only have to replace the neck pup

same for sustainiac

Aes820 06-30-2006 10:30 PM
2. Will I have to give up one of my pickup positions for the sustainer driver thing to fit?
Yes.
The sustainer driver thing usually sits in the neck position.

Needs more.

Amp'd 06-30-2006 10:34 PM

That picture is hung too high to make any impact on that room.

Nick 06-30-2006 10:35 PM

needs to extend lower to fill up the space. you need a bigger picture

or just hang it lower I guess

Aes820 06-30-2006 10:39 PM

I think you both may be right.
But it's at eye height at the moment. And I think if I lower it to be in the middle of that spot on the wall there it'll just look too low.
Maybe a bigger frame + pic.

Nick 06-30-2006 10:44 PM

really? that's quite a low roof then.

maybe a frame that extends very far up and down would work now

but as it is I find it really draws attention to the patch of bare wall

although from an eye height perspective it might be a lot better

Amp'd 06-30-2006 10:49 PM

Low roof + short couches??

it really draws attention to the blank bit. I say buy a long picture for there and use that picture elsewhere.

Aes820 06-30-2006 11:03 PM

Okay. Well maybe it's about head height then.
But yeah. It could do with being lowered a tad.

I lowered it by about 120mm. Now I think it just looks too small.
http://www.dropbear.net/files/DSCF0157.jpg
I'll look into getting a bigger print + frame maybe.

infernalhaze66 06-30-2006 11:08 PM

I think it looks better now than it did before.

Hey Chris...I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You're such a great moderater. You really have a keen sense of judgement and I think we should all try to be more like you. So really, thank you.

Used666 07-01-2006 12:36 AM

Nice Paypal nabbed the guy that ran with my money after buying a 7 string off him, recovered 150 of thr 260, but they've went to legal actions on him to get the remainder of the money, im also in contact with the sellers father (he was a dumbass lil 19 year out that sold it on ebay) and hes gonna take care of it (along with probably beating the piss outta his kid because he seemed pretty mad on the phone)
