Nation of Ulysses kick so much ass.

br3ad_man 06-14-2005 12:36 AM
Agreed. It's overshadowed by what's around it is all. Plus that cover of Light My Fire is horrible.
Especially after "Heat Miser", which is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

Today I've dug:

Stars
Miles Davis
The Jolly Rogers
Massive Attack

Bandaid 06-14-2005 01:55 AM

Circulating between both Gorillaz's albums, giving the new one a just listen

Ornery Cephalopod 06-14-2005 02:50 AM

Hmm, haven't been around these parts in a while. School and friends and non-computer hobbies have been stealing my computer time.

But anyway, I've been diggin':

The Olivia Tremor Control
The Starlight Mints
Tub Ring
Faith No More
Cannibal Ox
Kayo Dot
Denali
etc.

My brother recently gave me his old computer, which has my old stash of mp3s. Some of bands I've half-forgotten about, like The Bees and De Facto. I'm especially diggin' the rediscovery of The Bees.

dirtegurl 06-14-2005 08:18 AM

the pod for the day

Manic Street Preachers
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Tracy Bonham
The Organ (great show) Chics would dig these ladies!!

Zappa 06-14-2005 08:52 AM
Today I dug the new Shpongle, heavily. It's unreal. That's now two 5-star albums released on June 13th. 2005 is absolutely owning so far. Best year this decade, easily.
Did you actually purchase the album? It doesn't seem obtainable here in the states.

Luxor 06-14-2005 09:31 AM

Massive Attack
Rise Against
The Mars Volta

The Jolly Rogers
Have you found/gotten their demo yet? I've been scavaging for them on soulseek for awhile and havent found anything by them.

Lately I have been listening to Ester Drang. heavily. They are a nice dreamy post-rock-esque band.

Interstate 06-14-2005 02:57 PM

Today was an especially gangsta day for me

I listened to Mobb Deep, Eric B & Rakim, Run DMC, De La Soul & Compton's Most Wanted.

"It's Tricky!" - man that song is in my head now.

TalkingHead 06-14-2005 03:10 PM

not_just_another_drummer 06-14-2005 07:20 PM

I've been listening to all sorts of music lately. None of the bands are particularly new, just as awesome as they come. Some of my favorite songs/artists as of now are:

The Decemberists - "July, July"
The Arcade Fire - "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)"
Rilo Kiley - "Always"
Spoon - "Sister Jack"
Dashboard Confessional - "Bend and Not Break"
Bright Eyes - "Bowl of Oranges"
The Shins - "New Slang" <-- especially wonderful
Death Cab for Cutie - "Blacking Out the Friction"
The Postal Service - "Sleeping In"
The Thrills - "big sur"
The Von Bondies - "cmon cmon"
The Ataris - "teenage riot"
Wilco - "Kamera"

Sadly, no. I went on a few psytrance forums, and the only people who have actually managed to buy it so far are people lucky enough to live in Japan.

I looked at all the usual sources and nowhere was stocking it. I didn't break my back looking for it, though, since money's pretty tight for me right now.

Iai 06-15-2005 08:25 AM

Oh yeah.

Shpongle
Kraftwerk (add Minimum-Maximum to the list of reasons for 2005's ownage)
Death From Above 1979
Abba
