Heya

So, who's got their dirty fingers on Frances the Mute, apart from me.

neal_672 02-21-2005 09:45 AM

Not me :upset:

Me want!

neal_672 02-21-2005 09:45 AM

Is it as good as i'm hoping it's going to be Mitchell?

gaslight 02-21-2005 09:49 AM

I've got a couple of tracks off it.

neal_672 02-21-2005 09:50 AM

I'm out, got work, i'll be online again in about 5 hours

Mitchell Royce 02-21-2005 09:51 AM

Well, I just popped it into my stereo and am currently listening to the first song(13 minutes, yeah). It sounds freaking nuts so far. I have the distinct feeling that this is one of those albums that I will have to listen to a few times before I get the hang of it.

Ohh, and the titles are probably the most pretentious I have ever seen. Cygnus..Vismund Cygnus, Miranada that ghost jusy isn't holy anymore and so on. Bass sounds great and Flea is playing trumpet or so it says in the liner notes.

Haha yeah, Mars Volta are becoming kings of pretension. Which goes hand in hand with being kings of the indie scene.

black_star 02-21-2005 09:56 AM

Hey MX

Mitchell Royce 02-21-2005 09:58 AM
theres like 5
Nope there's 13 but they're split into 2 songs and 3 "movements", if you wanna call them that.

gaslight 02-21-2005 09:59 AM
theres like 5
I might have the whole thing then, let's check...

Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus
The Widow
L'via L'viaquez
Miranda, That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore
Cassandra Gemini

That's all?

so do i need more if i have 5 mp3s from them?

Mitchell Royce 02-21-2005 10:10 AM

I honestly don't know, left shoe. I think that the movememts were mixed together as one song at some point, from what I've seen when trying to get them from P2P. Mind you, most of those didn't work or were something completly wrong.

Miranda should be a little more than 30 minutes long and Cassandra about 20. just a rough estimate.

Wintermute 02-21-2005 10:16 AM

Can anyone name a bass that uses a Monorail bridge? The type where each string has a seperate bridge?

This sort of thing. I'm trying to photoshop a bass together.

Mitchell Royce 02-21-2005 10:19 AM

Ibanez BTB does

janyeno 02-21-2005 10:19 AM

ibanez btb i think uses monorail....

that brice z bass uses mono rail doesn't it?

PaulSimonon 02-21-2005 10:19 AM

Ibanez BTBs

gaslight 02-21-2005 10:20 AM

Winter, the other day someone posted a thread that led to a site where you could create your own custom bass and it would put the pictures there for you.

One of the options was a Monorail bridge, but with the search function down and out, I dunno if you'll be able to get that thread.

Mitchell Royce 02-21-2005 10:21 AM

Ohh, by the way, did you guys hear that Hunter S. Thompson killed himself. This world has lost a great mind.

Wintermute 02-21-2005 10:21 AM

The threads still on the front page :thumb:

thanks guys.

Wintermute 02-21-2005 10:32 AM

I know, it's a bit weird.

Zon Hyperbass triple-octave neck, but without the fugly Hyperbass body. No lower horn at all, in fact.

PaulSimonon 02-21-2005 10:35 AM

Those controls wouldn't be good there.......

Mitchell Royce 02-21-2005 10:35 AM

Whoa, that looks tweaky and kind of wrong. What's it for?

Wintermute 02-21-2005 10:37 AM
Those controls wouldn't be good there.......
Why?

PaulSimonon 02-21-2005 10:38 AM

I'd suggest stacked pots, and push-pull switch pots. You'd only have three knobs, and you could put them somewhere that the control chamber won't threaten the strength of the bass, and won't be bumped around accidently all of the time.

Left Shoe 02-21-2005 10:38 AM

other parts being conklin?

i like it , but it is unconventional

Wintermute 02-21-2005 10:42 AM

It's a Zon Hyperbass, a Conklin GT4 and the bridge from the Status Graphite bass generator (the BTBs have Chrome)

Good point though, there may be structural faults with putting the controls there.
