I bought Exile On Main Street the other day and was a little dissapointed. I didn't think it lived up to all the hype it gets. Maybe I just need to give it more time though. I do love Sweet Virginia and Tumbling Dice.
I'm giving it more time, that was my first Stones album. Very few albums hit me right off from the beginning.

Jacaranda 01-18-2006 08:26 PM

Should've went with Let it Bleed in my experiance the worst thing to do with a band is buy their best album because anything after that is a let down basically.

Listen to Happy, that song alone makes that album a 7/5, Keith is a dreamy singer. <3

MidnightRider 01-18-2006 08:39 PM

Happy is pretty good.

Most of the time I like a band's lesser known albums better than their others.

WelcomeToTheMachine 01-18-2006 08:41 PM

Speaking of Stones, anyone have the Flowers cd they could upload?

/Im such a mooch :(

Glitterati 01-18-2006 08:52 PM

Out of curiousity, for those who have been to many concerts, what would be your all-time favorite concert performances?

This came into my head because I was thinking how that night I saw Alice Cooper may be a contender for the greatest night of my life.

BigTrav415 01-18-2006 08:52 PM

I swear to God myiPod is a living breathing self-aware organism. Whenever I shuffle songs, it has really weird patterns. For example, it plays songs by the same artist back-to-back or even three in a row about 90% of the time. It plays the "same tempo" songs together often. I've had it play through an entire album in order before (remember, it's in shuffle). But I think the freakiest thing was today it played "Rain King" by Counting Crows, then "Sun King" by the Beatles. It's just too weird :(

JonG 01-18-2006 08:52 PM

Alice Cooper was good. Mayall was amazing aswell.

CSN was easily the best.

WelcomeToTheMachine 01-18-2006 08:54 PM

I dont play my ipod on shuffle, i just listen to whatever im in the mood for.

MBS 01-18-2006 08:55 PM

Happy pwns.

My favorite Stones album is Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!

There's a setting on iTunes called smart shuffle, and if you have that on in iTunes, it transfers the settings to your iPod. Basically, it makes it so that the chances of songs that are in the same album coming after each other more likely. You can turn it off if it bugs you.

Have you seen Gimme Shelter Mr. Gay Sky? Well I have! I love the part in Honk Tonk Women you see Mick and then Keith in the back ground singing back up and he is like bobbing his head all funny.

I don't know what Gimme Shelter is, Penisface. Is it a DVD?

Glitterati 01-18-2006 09:02 PM

I watched a Stones DVD today in class with Gimme Shelter. What a f'ucking wicked song. Especially in Goodfellas.

JonG 01-18-2006 09:04 PM

Yeah, Old Men Who Want Money is a pretty good band.

Exile On Main Street is good :p

Jacaranda 01-18-2006 09:10 PM

Ya it shows the concert footage from Get Yer Ya-Ya's and shows the guy getting killed at Alamount. Its good you should check it out, Mr. <Insult> Sky.

PinkFreud 01-18-2006 09:12 PM

concerts i've been to and the ratings i would give them (5 point scale):

buckethead: 4
simon and garfunkel: 3
buddy guy: 5
eric clapton: 5
the black crowes: 4
the allman brothers: 5
electric six: 3

never mind. they were all at least good though. and worth the money. im just not good at scales and such.

Sweet. I may just check it out.

Glitterati 01-18-2006 09:57 PM

YSI is being a total bitch right now.

Leper 01-18-2006 10:01 PM

I haven't been to that many concerts, but Robert Plant put on a fantastic performance when I saw him live this past summer. Damn that guy can still wail. I don't think he's lost any hair either lol.

jpj 01-18-2006 10:34 PM
buckethead: 4
That must've been wicked

Concerts I've been to...let's see:
Allman Brothers/moe.
Phil Lesh & Friends
Gov't Mule
Victor Wooten
String Cheese Incident
Deep Purple
Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire :p
John Fogerty/Mellencamp
Steve Miller/George Thorogood
Weird Al

There might be one or two I'm forgetting, but I couldn't pick one that was stands out as being superior to the others.

PinkFreud 01-18-2006 10:35 PM

oh man it was intense. he's amazing.

deep purple must have been cool. i kinda want to see them.

blue3 01-18-2006 10:36 PM

Deep Purple's awesome live.

gmoneyguy 01-18-2006 10:38 PM

Victor wooten must have been sick.

jpj 01-18-2006 10:40 PM
deep purple must have been cool. i kinda want to see them.
Indeed it was. Gillan can still sing flawlessly, and of course, Morse and Airey are just phenomenal musicians.
Victor wooten must have been sick.
Oh my god, you have no idea. At one point there were 4 or 5 bass players at the same time.

Leper 01-18-2006 10:49 PM

How were the Allman Bros. jpj?

jpj 01-18-2006 11:04 PM

Nothing less than you could expect from the greatest live band of all time. I sent out the Instant Live of the show, but I might not have had your e-mail. You want it?

Leper 01-18-2006 11:13 PM

Thanks for the offer, but it'd take me forever to download.:-/
