i stopped writing ):
i feel your pain. i havent really been able to write much, or finish what i do start writing.

FVG27 03-23-2009 03:57 PM

I've been writing a lot more recently. Been trying different forms and playing around with them. Working on a Villanelle at the moment but I'm not sure if I like it or not yet.

RunAmokRampant 03-24-2009 05:22 AM

Remember the time when that dude was busted for plagiarism on here?

Good times.

kitsch 03-24-2009 06:12 AM

was he the guy that posted an old taking back sunday song? that was lol.
was he the guy that posted an old taking back sunday song? that was lol.
no the one im thinking of was a lot more serious. The dude that had his work plagiarised posted on here saying he was gonna file a law suit and wanting the perpetrator's detail etc etc. It was lulzy for all those not involved.

kitsch 03-25-2009 06:18 AM

i vaguely remember something like that. i thought the guy was an idiot and didnt pay much attn. it would be great to find that thread(s).

Surf 03-25-2009 01:15 PM

was that sloth or the other one?

the real crime behind the sloth one was that he seemed alright. a plagiarist and a thief, but alright.

TojesDolan 03-25-2009 03:31 PM

sloth did some awesome stuff back in the day

RunAmokRampant 03-26-2009 07:44 AM

yeah that was the dude, Sloth.

kitsch 03-30-2009 04:10 PM

read this poem today
sometimes poems are just so dead on i have to say
damn.

The Drunkard
-William Carlos Williams

You drunken
tottering
bum

by Christ
in spite of all
your filth

and sordidness
I envy
you

It is the very face
of love
itself

abandoned
in that powerless
commital

to dispair

Sloth 04-01-2009 08:45 AM

Ha! The day I drop in between classes is the day I see my name... Weirrrrrd.
Heh, yeah, I posted SOME stuff I didn't write... and it bit me in the ***.
Oh well... I still wrote everything else. I still write poetry occasionally.
I'm a journalist though, so I write articles of the time.

Kitsch, personally, I only like some of WCW's stuff. A lot of his writing doesn't fit me well.

Surf, Tojes, RunAmok...
*tips hat to old friends*

what kind of journalism you doing?

I haven't read much, I have a book of selected poems, and most of the stuff in there is good. I say I like about 70% of his poetry.

Hey folks I'm trying to choose modules for my 2nd year English lit degree and one of the options is 'Creating Poetry' where you study poetry forms pretty deeply and create your own portfolio. I'm really interested but I'm not sure if I'll come across as a bit of a pretentious twat if I'm like 'look at me I'm a wannabe poet'.

Am I overthinking it? Should I just go for it?

catharsis 05-04-2009 04:08 PM

You are overthinking it. If poetry interests you, then take the course. Worrying about seeming pretentious is silly.

FVG27 05-04-2009 04:22 PM

Yeah you're probably right. I worry too much what others think, I guess.

do it.

youre not opposed to the scholarly approach to poetry from what ive seen you post on these boards.

FVG27 05-04-2009 05:05 PM

That's true. I much prefer/find it easier to write within forms and find the restraint of technical aspects to poetry really interesting to study... so it probably would be a good choice.

i found this poem today i lold

The Pope's Penis

It hangs deep in his robes, a delicate
clapper at the center of a bell.
It moves when he moves, a ghostly fish in a
halo of silver sweaweed, the hair
swaying in the dark and the heat -- and at night
while his eyes sleep, it stands up
in praise of God.

yea man i've actually been more and more interested in forms as of late. i agree with you. the restriction forces me to find the best possible way of saying things.
