Duplicate thread, delete. There's nothing wrong with the thread other than that though. |

I need new music, any recommendations? |
CemetaryGates9 seems like he was advocating or at the very least finding the idea of raping girls attractive in the R+M Community Thread. The surrounding drama about the appropriateness of these fantasies to his age (12) notwithstanding, as long as females are present on the forums I think it would be best for CemetaryGates to exhibit a bit more tact with how he reveals his opinions, whether he actually has them or not. I recommend a short ban of maybe one to three days.
I may get shot down on this, but it's annoying at the least and potentially volatile and feeling-hurting at worst. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/member.php?userid=164168 |
^^^^^^ how about a link to the post?
|
Ken, they abound, but I'll hit some up for you.
This is what started it: His story about raping girls for pleasure Discusses how he wants to get with a girl before he kills her When asked why, his response:
Because it'd make me feel good inside.
When a user said that he's just asking for attention, his response:
It's not for attention. I just think it will make me feel good.
Told to seek counseling for discussing murder Again about how he has to see a counselor for talking about a mass murder |
^^^^^^ how about a link to the post?
Sorry about that, SK. Jom took care of it, as you can see. :thumb: |
Good day Ken, 'Tender, Chris, Jelle, Alex and.... Johnny ;)
Just some maintanence to be done, if any of you happen to be online... Firstly, Johnny would like the article in the FA archive referring to Medopalis to Med57. I know this because he asked a while ago, and he told me the reasons on MSN. Also, could the results of Ramsey's competitions be added to a new post, or an existing one? The first winner was Berner. Again, the Featured Genre's could do with a archive also. They are: FG#1: Technical Death Metal FG#2: Country Rock FG #3: Pop Punk Perhaps a bit egotistical of me, but could my Monday Night Mayhem's be archived also? I have three already, and enough interviews for another 7 or so. They are, so far: Monday - 4th April Monday - 11th April Monday - 18th April Also, Jim's YSI Upload thread could also be added to the important threads link... Thanks for that, you guys are really keeping R&M great. One more thought... I know I may make a few enemies by saying this, but I feel I have to... R&M cannot handle a community thread, I fear. It has made 4000 posts in approx 10 days. The majority of the posts are simple one liners which could easily be typed in mxrockandmetal (the forum's AIM chatroom). Bartender can attest to this, since he reads every post made in there. Every now and then, a post of a paragraph or more is made, but it really is a lot of borderline spam. Also, I've noticed maybe 5 posters are the ones giving the postcount such a big bump up every day. Three of this posters post almost only in the Community thread. I am not naming anyone, but I think in a forum designated for Rock and Metal discussion, posting only in the community thread is a bit silly. I've noticed most of the regulars have either distanced themselves, or simply not posted in the thread all together. Also, from the opinions I've gathered, I think a lot of people would agree with me here... I don't pretend to be an angel, and I am guilty of making a few half-hearted posts, but seriously... this issues needs to be dealt with. Maybe close it like the old one, and link both to the important threads list for future reference, or perhaps another path worked out by you guys could be enacted. Just my £0.01. :) |

You may be right. The conversation in general has been boring me a lot recently. I only have 109 posts in that entire 4,000-something thread...it's just not worth keeping up the community when there's nothing to say. I like it, but I've also had enough of the same subjects being broached and the same arguments being had...and most of all a peculiar resistance to any actual discussions. Talk about the new pope leads to "save it for the Politics forum" remarks, for instance, almost instantly.
I love the community thread and the regulars in it, but never seeing those unnamed users post ANYWHERE else, ever, is kind of silly, and most of all, it's boring when all talking is just one long "Sup thread. How was everyone's day?" And the attempts to control the spamming are so obviously half-hearted it's painful. I once got laughed at for being a "tr00 thread nurse" when trying to remind some users of Bartender's message/subtle threat, and this was followed by further "This is the community thread, we can talk about whatever we want" posts. I am no angel either, having accumulated a large portion of my postcount in the last community thread, but I'm nevertheless feeling like if the community thread was gone tommorrow, the users that depend on it for sustenance would rapidly fade, and that I personally would not be all that depressed to see it go. And Jason, the phrase is "that's my two CENTS" ;), and with that, you have mine. I'm basically in agreement with Riva on this. |
I'm in agreement to an extent, but stopped by one thing. Sure, the thread a lot (most) of the time is a load of trash. However, we get rid of the Community thread and all the other, namely the Official, threads become chat rooms. I've seen this a lot already, even with the Community thread, and it's quite annoying. I don't like going into the Megadeth, Floyd, or whatever Official thread and seeing people talking about how their sister stole their shoes this morning. That's not why I go in there and that's not what I want to read. I only see this getting worse with removal of the Community Thread. Cheers.

I'm for stricter regulation but not closing it. At least now the spam is centralized in one thread.
