and as far as i'm concerned, "math" and "maths" are interchangeable, becuase of the particular nature of the word, and given its common use. not to mention, in some cases, the singular is actually correct. however, in any formal context, if you're going to be "proper" you would never say "math" - but you'd never say "maths" either, you'd say "mathematics."

in england it's 'maths'
