Anyone else love Abbey Road as much as I do?
Nooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pep's > Abbery Road, and everyone agrees. Back off Jan 06 is my Join Date! |
Welcome to the forums. Great introduction, most people new to the forum don't bother to read any recent conversation and respond to the first post which is around a year and a half old.
I agree with you about Abbey Road. I think it's one of the most perfect albums ever. Every song on the first side is just awesome, and then the 2nd side flows together so brilliantly. If any album is perfect, I think it might be Abbey Road. And Abbey Road >>> Sgt. Pepper's, sorry Jac. Though Sgt. Pepper's is great too. |
I love Sgt. Peppers too, I don't actually own the album unfortunately, but I've heard all the songs off it at one point or another, and I've got a few of the songs on my computer. I think it's cool how they put "When I'm 64" on there, considering that was one of the first songs they recorded as a group together, something like 5 years before.
Currently listening to: Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts I-V |
I could send out some Yonder Mountain. First 'moon would have to send out Elevation.
/ransom
I'll try to get it out soon. It's a fine Bluegrass album; filled with solid writing, melodies and picking. |
Pep's > Abbery Road, and everyone agrees.
Sorry didn't you read that? Everyone agrees, jesh. Thoughts on the Stones NickMason?
Because, I Want You, and sometimes Sun King all drag on a bit for me.
Oi! My thoughts exactly. |
Bluegrass is good, I have a few songs on my computer. Earl Scruggs is a god on banjo. Right now I'm listening to Come Together - The Beatles. Anyone else love Abbey Road as much as I do? Something and I want You can be a little slow and drawn out, but I still love them. I think the Abbey Road Medley (You Never Give Me Your Money - The End/Your Majesty) is really cool.
:hugs: welcome :) I just picked up Abbey Road and I love it. For me, Something doesn't really drag on too much, because of how great the middle section is. Because, I Want You, and sometimes Sun King all drag on a bit for me. The "medley" is great, but I just wish Golden Slumbers was longer; That's one of McCartney's best vocal preformances. |
I've got a couple of instrumental bluegrass cd's my friend burned for me, I like them alot. I always listen to 'em while I'm out hunting.
NickMason - Welcome to the forums man, it's always good to have another Floyd/Beatles fan around. |

I used to think that the "You're asking me will my love grow, I don't know, I don't know..." part in Something sounded out of place and didn't like it when I first heard it, but now I love it. And Golden Slumbers is amazing singing. The only bluegrass I have is one Yonder Mountain String Band cd. Unless Garcia and Grisham count. But yeah, I could use some more good bluegrass. |
My favorite band is probably Pink Floyd, but I also love The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Cream, Deep Purple, Bob Dylan, The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Yes.
Throw out the Led Zeppelin and you'll do alright, kid. Other than Deep Purple, the bands you threw out there are probably the most frequently talked about. :thumb:
Revolver > Abby Road (easily) Abby Road for me is like a beautiful blind schizo girl who's prude but has a great personality. I don't know that's just how I feel......:p Edit: Can someone send out Green Onions by Booker T. & the M.G.'s? |
Abbey Road is probably my second favorite Beatles album, behind Rubber Soul. I don't think Something drags on at all, it's perfect.

I like sometimes, but I don't always listen to it all the way through. It's not a detriment to the album at all. |
I've kind of lurked in here for a little while today, and I read through some random pages just trying to get an idea of what you guys listen to and talk about.
THANK YOU JESUS! You're one of the first to do that. And for the record, welcome to the forums. :) |
bah. abbey road is superior to the other beatles albums based on the fact that on abbey road, their vocals are so much better and their instrumental playing is great. better. more good.

Indeed The vocal harmonies on Abbey Road are absolutly perfect, the best on record. And the bridge for Something ("you ask me will my love grow, i don't know, i don't know" or whatever) is the best part of the song IMO. |

123. I love that part, especially on the Concert for George. I enjoy watching Ringo on that DVD because compared to the other 3 percussionists on that DVD, Ringo sucks. They do all these complicated fills during WMGGW, and Ringo's sitting there banging on his ride and snare. It's quite humorous. |
The best part in Something is the solo. It's amazing.
np: Pressure Drop 'moon, what's your favorite song on Funky Kingston? I love Pomp and Pride. |

NP: Behind Blue Eyes - The Who
Anyone else like this song? |
It's pretty good though I don't think it stands up to earlier Who imo.

Make sure the songs are tagged.
I've been on somewhat of a reggae kick lately. I just downloaded: Peter Tosh - Equal Rights Toots and the Maytals - Just Like That |
