It's not out of Portnoy's character tbh. Not that I know him personally like.
Their last album was terrible in every way. |
Just got a job.
Was out of work for 5 weeks, applied for it yesterday, had an interview today, was offered the job at the end of the interview. I rock. |
Well tbh, Portnoy technically has left the band before, but for a very short period of time whilst on the Falling into Infinity Tour (another shite album)...
I'm getting a bit annoyed with most forms of entertainment at the moment - there are so many bands and comedians and others that I used to hold in really high regard that have either turned terrible or I just don't care about anymore... DT (last two albums were terrible), Meshuggah (have cheapened themselves through sheer repetition), Satch, Bill Baily (that orchestra thing was far from funny, if anything it just shows the complete inability of classicaly trained musicians to play the bee gees)... the list goes on. Is the whole media world just sucking really badly at the moment or am I just becoming really boring? |
It is my firm belief that the world is just sucking really badly.
P.S. - Every time I see the name "Portnoy" I think of the movie Tropic Thunder due to Jack Black's character having the same last name. |
Sup guys, what's the best free database software? As in, I want Excel but a free version, and I don't wanna have to dl all of OpenOffice just to use Base.
|
Hello 'lod
|
'sup Paul?
|
I am fine, in a non-fine but partially-hopeful way. Can you believe that a university let me in to study? Crazy, I know.
'sup your fine-self Paul? |
Excel = Spreadsheet software
Access = Database software Admittedly the only alternative I know is openoffice... |
Yeah, I don't know of anything free and good past Open-Office either. :upset:

I kind of miss school... yet it is the social-part, not the actual learning part. I'm just sitting at work... seeing my job has waves right now we are basically twiddling our thumbs. We'll get busy again in a couple of weeks and then it'll be suicidal for a month or month and a half. |
Hello 'lod
Well fuck me sideways. |
Well fuck me sideways.
Only if you say you love me :o Sup my Scottish brotheren? |
I want to be able to input the different menu items this new job sells each day, and then see how many of each item are sold on a monthly basis.
Do I need a database or a spreadsheet? |
Only if you say you love me :o Sup my Scottish brotheren?
Not much. Turns out being a Music graduate doesn't lend itself to immediate employment. Who'd have thought? As such I am looking for a job. Yourself? |
lod: sup.
AG, a spreadsheet would do that. |

Well, after even the ruddy armed forces wouldn't take me I decided that my only option was to get an education, so now I'm just about to go into the second year of my chemistry degree. How's London been treating you? I don't gasp for air right now either, for the past three months I have been gasping for pussy. Good god I hope freshers brings me the good hole, this place has been barren. |
What's wrong with the "whole" of openOffice? it's like 300 meg isnt it.
|
The installer is 154.
Atm I'm on a wirless dongle that costs £15 for 3gb of usage. I don't wanna dl all that if I don't need too. |
Why don't you just use a calculator.
What is it you do?
I work for a software company in a position called "XBRL Technician". They make a program which helps companies make XBRL documents of their 10K/Q (USA) or 8K/6K (think that is Europe) documents etc. etc. for submitting to the SEC [part of the U.S. Government]. The position is 90% building the documents for companies and 10% tech support for the really hard questions when companies choose to use my companies' software to do it themselves. Companies have 30 business days to file after their quarter ends (usually March 31st, June 30, etc. etc.) so late July/August was just fun. Where I've done maybe 2 hours of actual work in the last three days, I put in 289 hours in August. This is supposed to be a 40 hour a week job. Though I didn't even get a weekend for 5 weeks. Can't say the checks didn't look pretty though. // waits for mandatory sarcastic post from Josh |
yeah your job must be a real ball buster with as much as you post here
|
lel, josh posts his obligatory post after LFD even when LFD himself calls it out
i just dont know how to take that |
LFD, your work schedule sounds alot like my wifes.
Businesses wait untill the last 2 days of a batch window/deadline, then she's completely inundated for a week, then it goes dead again. |
Can anyone tell me how much a guitar is worth?
I don't know much about acoustics, but I really want one that plays well and sounds nice. I'm being offered a Celebrity by Ovation model CC57. I think dude might be trying to rip me off, though. Can anyone give me some information about it and its worth? |

Damn those were simpler times. |

Damn, chemistry. Not a big fan. Physics was my bag. You seriously tried for the Army (Navy/RAF)? You realise there's a war on, right?
How's London been treating you?
Nice enough place. Bit like anywhere really - most people don't live in the city as such. It's almost as much an occasion for me to get into the centre as it is for visiting tourists. Bad times indeed, I'm studying half chemistry and half philosophy but my degree is chemisty. It's funky. |

Does installing iOS 4 on iPhone/iPod delete or reset anything? |
No, just back up your phone (through iTunes) pending something goes wrong. Then let just let iTunes install it over the old one. You'll have all your stuff still. If something goes wrong, reset everything using the backup you made before installing and try again.
