ghettoeddo 03-31-2006 05:30 PM

dang son.

GenuineImitation 03-31-2006 05:41 PM
oh crap, didn't think abt that.
yea i guess it's enough...

im gonnna confirm the deal of buying a petrucci model soon...should i go 6-or 7-string? both are mystic dream w/ piezo etc. $1499 for the 6 and $1699 for the 7. i personally find his model EXTREMELY sexy
7 string. Then you can play more DT songs like The Mirror and The Glass Prison.

ghettoeddo 03-31-2006 05:43 PM

i guess...but i was thinkin of just getting a cheap ibanez 7-stringer.

im also not sure if i could completely adjust comfortably to play every song with an extra string on the bottom.
im pretty bad as is (i think), so i dont need an extra string to get in the way

GenuineImitation 03-31-2006 05:52 PM

Im sure you are not that bad.

ghettoeddo 03-31-2006 07:29 PM

i beg to differ haha.
then again, it's all pretty subjective i spose. i've been told i've got high standards for myself.

the most difficult song i can play by DT is overture 1928 (still fudging that shredding run), and it's VERY tame compared to what they write...

Jev 04-01-2006 05:21 AM

Apparently it doesn't take too long to adjust to a 7 String, just get one. I've always wanted one.

GenuineImitation 04-01-2006 10:49 AM

Today is the day guys.

ghettoeddo 04-01-2006 10:55 AM

alright 7 it is then, thanks guys.

get pumped!!! tonight is going to be one of the best nights of your life...if not THE best. maybe they'll be really cool and play an extra-long set like the scenes from new york one.

classicrockman 04-01-2006 11:04 AM
Today is the day guys.
Have fun man!

You're so lucky :( :(
wanna trade places for tonight? You can watch my mate's band for me.

GenuineImitation 04-01-2006 11:22 AM

I think this night will top losing my virginity almost two years ago. It may possibly be better than getting married sometime in the future.

Wouldn't it be great if they did a second encore. Except the second one is only one song. That song being Space Dye Vest. I think I would have a heart attack from the excitment.

Lord Abortion 04-01-2006 11:44 AM

And ejaculate in your pants...for 7 minutes...your balls would be flat as pancakes.

GenuineImitation 04-01-2006 11:50 AM

Very true.

I out guys. Im going to city now. The show doesnt start until 8 and its still before noon, but I plan on just chilling in Manhattan. I'll post the set list and a mini-review when I get back.

el doctor 04-01-2006 11:56 AM

Since it's a DVD filming, do you think they'll be strict about people with cameras?

Jev 04-01-2006 12:01 PM

Dunno. Why would they care about you taking pictures if they're gonna show everyone the show later?

National chaos sam 04-01-2006 12:39 PM

True. Im sure it will be killer. Ill bet the lucky bums having a whale of a time. the last show i saw was SYL...now I need to go see DT.

ghettoeddo 04-01-2006 12:47 PM

woohooo!!!! you go girl.

cheers to an awesome show/DVD :chug:

temporary 04-01-2006 02:45 PM

Have fun, Genuine, I'm sure its going to great. The show in Philly was one of the best I've ever seen.

If you really think about it, they're probably the best they've ever been. For the first time, LaBrie is note perfect to what he is in the studio. Rudess is doing all sorts of creative stuff (when I saw them, he used this thing called a Contidum - or something like that - and an actual Moog synth.) And the rest of them can only get better as the years go by.

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:03 AM

Set List:

Root of All Evil
I Walk Besides You
Majesty Song (I think it was Another Won)
Afterlife
Under A Glassmoon
Innocence Faded
Raise the Knife
The Spirit Carries On

------Intermission-------

(Band returns with Octavarium Orchestra for second half)

Entire second disc of 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence
The Answer Lies Within
Sacrificed Sons
Octavarium

-----Encore------

Metropolis Part 1

It was a great show, everything was perfect. The only complaint I have is that they should have done a second song in the encore, but oh well. I was able to get the sing up a few times, Lets just hope it makes it onto the DVD.

I'll talk about it tomorrow. Im dead tired.

White 04-02-2006 12:04 AM

Wow. that sounds like a kick *** show.you lucky bastard lol

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:06 AM

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:08 AM

I missed vacant in mine. Oh well.... Where were you sitting?

el doctor 04-02-2006 12:10 AM
The only complaint I have is that they should have done a second song in the encore, but oh well.
I was pretty surprised too. They ended pretty much at 11 sharp, so maybe there was some sort of time contraint involved.

Row QQ. Chris Jericho and the rest of his band Fozzy were like 2 rows behind me. They were talking with that DJ Eddie Trunk a lot.

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:13 AM

I was in row G (Myung's side) in the Orchestra pit.

I wished they played another song from ToT in addition to vacant.

ghettoeddo 04-02-2006 12:27 AM

holy shiiiiiiiiit that setlist couldn't have been much better.

being a fan of DT's mellower stuff, im VERY pleased w/ the second half such as answer lies within...and VACANT!!!

wish they had done take the time instead of UAGM. but innocence faded is a good change...

this DVD is gonna be so balla.

genuine, you have my eternal gratitude and if we could still rep, i'd rep you 500000 times. or maybe we still can and idk it.

not the most perfect setlist and the encore is disappointing, but hey the rest is great :]

i was right about the orchestra ;)

I thought about you when the orchestra came out.
I thought about you when the orchestra came out.
awww :smash:

it'll probably be several months before the DVD is released. i intend to pre-order it.

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:35 AM

Im getting both the cd and DVD. This way I can listen to it and watch it.

Inkstar 04-02-2006 12:39 AM

I assume it would be about 3 or 4 months before they release the DVD and/or CD. Sounded like an awesome show guys.

Does it feel weird to think that when the DVD comes out, you'll be watching it and be like "omg my eyes were looking at that exact same thing" and also when you hear the audience you realise your voice is in there somewhere? I reckon it'd be an awesome thing to know you're part of DT history like that. Kinda like on the Metropolis 2000 DVD how on behind the scenes they have some interviews with the fans. Imagine being them. *orgasms*

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:42 AM

I dont think it will feel weird, but definetly cool.

When Petrucci was using his double necked guitar, it reflected light off of it and into my eyes. I was blinded for a moment by Petrucci.

ghettoeddo 04-02-2006 12:42 AM

oh yea forgot about the CD...i hope they release it in some kinda package so i dont have to order separately.

myeh, phoenix ain't ever gonna get no historic show.
When Petrucci was using his double necked guitar, it reflected light off of it and into my eyes. I was blinded for a moment by Petrucci.
consider it an honor.

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:43 AM

It could. Are there any bands from there?

ghettoeddo 04-02-2006 12:45 AM

megadeth....judas priest?
idk if they're from here (wel mustaine is), but they recorded here and they consider phoenix home.

i meant dream theater :] i could care less about megadeth/judas right now.

GenuineImitation 04-02-2006 12:50 AM

I just saw on the Mike Portnoy forums that Pornoy hosted a 3 hour radio show on one of my local stations on Feb. 25. Im really upset that I missed it.

Good night.

Sleepy 04-02-2006 12:53 AM

Wow, sounds like an absolutely killer show, especially with the orchestra.

ghettoeddo 04-02-2006 12:54 AM

night

idk what animal photography means...

pizzapie88 04-02-2006 01:12 AM

Sounds like a great show. I can wait untill I get my hands on the DVD.

Kirk's Puppet 04-02-2006 01:29 AM

I'm actually disappointed by the set list. But having Octavarium and 6DoIT in the setlist is pretty ace.

Lionheart1827 04-02-2006 01:45 AM

Show was amazing.

They said the dvd will be out in fall.

Metropolis part 1 with orchestra, is a MAJOR orgasm.
