One of my Turns is very creepy. The first half is pretty haunting, before it gets all loud.

Flaminghotchino 09-13-2005 10:22 PM

The Wall is just by far their creepiest album.

on the flip side..what would their least creepiest be in your opinion?.. out of the ones i've heard..I'd have to say either.. A Saucerful of Secrets or.. A Momentary relapse..

I haven't heard much off of Division Bell but I imagine thats not very creepy...

I find SOS oddly comforting.

She goes up as he goes down...

LF96 09-14-2005 11:20 AM

What song do I have to play backwards to hear the secret message on the wall?

Also, I think Atom Heart Mother is quite underrated. It's actually a pretty good album, the title track and most of the other tracks are all nice to awesome. Only just average track on there is Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast, which is weirdness...

moaner 09-14-2005 12:26 PM

Empty spaces.

Shazzam 09-14-2005 01:02 PM

Where in the song is it, towards the front or the back?

Whale and Wasp 09-14-2005 01:04 PM
Where in the song is it, towards the front or the back?
well if you listen to it normally, its that mumbling part in the beginning right before the lyrics

Shazzam 09-14-2005 01:17 PM

Hmmm

I just listened to it backwards, but still can't tell what it's saying.

Whale and Wasp 09-14-2005 01:30 PM

same thing happened to me at first. its a bit quiet and fuzzy sounding but if you listen very closely you can hear the message

Dragon_Prince 09-14-2005 02:13 PM

What if Pink Floyd is starting to tour again what would you think would be the perfect playlist?

I'd think:
In The Flesh
Learning To Fly
Astronomy Domine
Another Brick in the wall pt 2
Summer '68
Hey You
Dogs
Coming Back To Live
Shine on you Crazy diamond
enitre DSOTM
Comfortably Numb
Wish you were here
Run Like Hell
Hmmm

He says something along the lines of.

"Congratulations. You have found the secret message. Send your answer to dear old Pink. Care of the funny farm."

Or something.. o.O

Anywho.. I really doubt PF will tour again. I would DIE to see it happen, but I really doubt it. I could see them playing a charity concert for Hurricane Katrina, but meh..

One thing I could never figure out, is why they always played Run Like Hell to close the show. I would definatly put RLH then Comf Numb to close the show.. I mean christ you would walk out shaking cause the solo is so amazing.

Has anyone noticed that the movie version of "Empty Spaces" is soooo much cooler than the actual album version?

standard 09-14-2005 02:31 PM

Yes, it's called "What Shall We Do Now?"

I could upload it if you want.

See, if they played the whole of Live at pompeii or somehting i'd be so laughing... maybe with shine on/some dark side instead of set the controls. I don't listen to anything later than animals, it just can't maintain my intrest at all.

standard 09-14-2005 02:38 PM

I'm the total opposite. I can't listen to anything before Obscured by Clouds.

ewww....

standard 09-14-2005 02:57 PM

Yeah. Take that out throw in Keep Talking and Lost For Words.

clairvoyant 09-14-2005 03:14 PM

Any Pink Floyd setlist would rock as long as one song from Animals is on there.

WheepingGuitar39 09-14-2005 03:14 PM

Part 1:
In The Flesh
Shine On 1-5
Learning to Fly
High Hopes
Sorrow
On the turning away
Astronomy Domine
Dogs (Shortened)
Pigs (Shortened)
One of these days
Echoes (Shortened)

Part 2:
Have a Cigar
What do you want from me
Keep talking
Money
Time
Any Color you like
Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)
Hey You
Marooned
Young Lust

Encores:
Wish You were Here
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell

So It basically looks like their usual format..

I love Learning to Fly. It's really catchy, which is kind of odd for Pink Floyd. I really like it though. A few other people mentioned it, so at least I'm not alone in liking it.

I never really liked Keep Talking, but I listened to it today off Pulse, and I have decided that it is awesome. Wierd. I listened to it many times and didn't really care for it, and then suddenly I think it's great. I think I like Learning to Fly better than it though.

A lot of Floyd takes a couple listens to really appreciate. Keep Talking just took more listens than most of their other songs to really appreciate it. Great song.

Brewer14 09-14-2005 03:58 PM

I bought The Wall saturday, and thanks to those who suggested it, it's amazing.

Flaminghotchino 09-14-2005 04:46 PM

Learning to Fly was one of the first songs I downloaded when I started getting into floyd.

so I've always liked it a lot..It's such a peaceful song.

I've actually recently been getting into AMLoF it's a really really great record.. The solo's and everything are outstanding..my only complaint is sometimes all the keyboards reek a bit too much of the 80's synth sound... and the lyrics can be a little...lame at times.

But still an underated cd imo
Has anyone noticed that the movie version of "Empty Spaces" is soooo much cooler than the actual album version?
Yea, I really wish they put the movie version on the album. It's got some awesome lyrics, and the animation that accompanies it is my favorite in the movie.

The Australian Pink Floyd Show are playing here in November. I think I'm going to go.

Flaminghotchino 09-14-2005 05:35 PM

I wonder if they are coming to Arizona.. if so you can count me in..

I've already missed "The Great Gig In the Sky" and the "Pink Floyd Laser Light Show".. I owe it to myself to go.

Sweet for alerting me on that, I'm gonna go to the Nov 3rd show in Detroit without a doubt.

Porcupine Tree on Oct 8th, now Aussie floyd on Nov 3rd.... :)

Awesome. I've never seen them before, but I've heard that they're awesome. I'm definitely going. I'm really liking Is There Anybody Out There? (The Wall Live) right now. It's not that much different than the album, but it's still awesome.

np- Goodbye Cruel World

Edit- Damn. Aussie Floyd isn't coming to NY. Maybe they'll put up some more dates. The Machine: A Pink Floyd Tribute is playing in NYC though, anyone know if they're any good?

DeusExMachina 09-14-2005 08:55 PM

I saw Aussie Floyd awhile back. They're quite good.

Kingofdudes 09-14-2005 10:43 PM

AMLoR is still a good record, and I stand by that.

I've been listening to Terminal Frost a lot recently, very peaceful. Nice sax solo too.

Flaminghotchino 09-14-2005 10:53 PM

I like the turning away, and sorrow a lot.

but each day I get into another song off of it.

Kingofdudes 09-14-2005 10:57 PM

Id rank Sorrow in their top 10 songs. There is only one song I dislike on there(Yet Another Movie), and 2 filler tracks. The rest of the songs are good to me.

LF96 09-15-2005 12:27 PM
Hmmm

Yeah, I checked it out yesterday and today, and I couldn't hear it. I did hear some very quiet talking tho, but I couldn't get my volume to go any higher (cause it already was at it's highest)...
In all honesty, I've never got the big deal about Run Like Hell at all...it's OK, but I don't see why it became such a fixture in Floyd's live sets, to be honest. Compared with quite a lot of other songs on The Wall, I think it gets blown away by them.
Exactly my thoughts.

Grant 09-15-2005 12:51 PM

Have Aussie Floyd changed their set list since Sept. 04?

This is the set that they played when I saw them last year:

Dark Side of the Moon
(intermission)
Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-V
Welcome to the Machine
The Fletcher Memorial Home
Careful With That Axe, Eugene
Sorrow
Keep Talking
Happiest Days of Our Lives/ Another Brick in the Wall Part 2
Run Like Hell
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb

I went to see them earlier this year (around May time) and they did similar songs ... from the list you gave though they didn't do Careful with that axe, Eugene and The Fletcher Memorial Home (Never heard that song infact). They also did Sheep off the ones you didn't give, and One of These days.

EDIT: Just remembered they didn't do Sorrow too. Ah yes and they opened with In The Flesh.
