Ah, fence-sitting and Euro-bumming; isn't voting Lib Dem great?
|

Why didn't you vote?

Because I'm not registered.

Zwnd.

Me and my father in law are recording a song about the battle of agincourt.
It's pretty good so far. |
While we're on the subject of English, it's supposed to be written "My father-in-law and I are..."
|
Yep.
But we (which presumably meant you and I) weren't on the subject of English. |
I am a little sleepy.

WHAT FENCE where is this fence there is no fence to be sat lib dem are not a halfway compromise, they are more left than labour labour are therefore the 'fence' |
How's the election going?
Who's winning? Who should be winning? I don't know much about British politics.
1) Badly- some people were turned away from polling stations that couldn't deal with the very good turnout because they were still queueing at 10 o clock when the rules say the stations have to close despite arriving hours earlier 2) Conservatives, bunch of smarmy gits with no policies at all apart from "none of you can remember how awful things were last time we were in power". However, right now they don't have a working majority, so the labour and liberal democrat parties could probably just squeeze them out if they worked together 3) We have no sense of proportional represenation whatsoever, so my personal preference the Liberal Democrats gained 1% of the vote on last year but lost 5 seats The people who will probably be in power, the conservatives, got a mere 36% of the vote when the two 'leftist' parties got 52% between them (29% labour, 23% lib dem). So obviously some of us see that as an overall rejection of the conservatives, but they see that as a 'moral right to govern' because the left is split into two parties but the right is not (they keep their squabbling to internal bickering instead of cross party bickering) |
I think there will be a re-vote.

If it gets him PR, it'll be well worth it in 5 years
Depends what the tories are prepared to compromise on to be honest Clegg said he wouldn't prop up Brown if he came third in votes but he didn't say much more specific than that, I think we'll have to wait and see |

Also have the Tories all but laughed off any chance of PR? |
No, I think somebody said that they might grant a referendum in return for support but would then be campaigning for a 'No' result, which would be funny.
I'm with the LDs on a lot more than I thought I would be, but not everything. I'm for Freedom Act, Evidence Based Drug Policy, Repealing DEB, and ofc PR. Their tax laws would benefit me and I like them much better than the ****ing conservative ones (why do people vote for tax breaks for people far richer than them who make up a tiny proportion of the population instead of for their own benefit? People are strange.) I also like their science policies except for the one mentionned below; I mean, homeopathy on the NHS for ****'s sake? I'm against completely ruling out nuclear power, and I don't know why they bothered to say they'd consider the euro when it's in such a shitstate right now- they clearly had no intention of taking it on at the moment, so why bring it up? And I don't see anything wrong with their immigration policies but I'm not sure the time is right for what they're proposing; it's something to propose in the good times, not the hard times. |
Homeopathy?! Hahahaha! I didn't notice that one! And the nuclear power/weapons thing really irked me.
|
Homeopathy on the NHS is a labour policy opposed by the LDs.
As for trident; bullsh!t waste of money motivated by nothing more than a victorian overestimation of our own importance. |
