It didn't make much sense after you deleted your posts. I read what was in there, but don't really get what the issue is.

he's pissed because I was exploiting a loophole in the rule where you can get whole albums

Basically i'd ask for every song individual, or in pairs or whatever, and get them all

But its pointless because its not a rule, its just a loophole in the way his thread works (which I can easily point out plenty of mistakes, but for the respect of Antihero, I won't) and he didn't like me just getting around it like that.
He believes the mods will shut it down if this continues to happen.

I wonder why they didn't want full albums to be posted. We do that in alt/indie all of the time.
I wonder why they didn't want full albums to be posted. We do that in alt/indie all of the time.
Exactly

+ Add to that the fact that anyone can easily get cds from a bittorrent site (there are hundreds) or the hundreds of fie sharing programs out there, then it really defeats the purpose of a YSI thread. I go to the YSI thread mainly because its a faster and safer process than getting them from a filsharing program.

And seriously, you make a YSI thread and you don't expect this to happen? Jeez, wake up

ArcLite 04-29-2005 12:46 AM

To encourage people to buy the albums. But hell, I DL full albums on soulseek all the time, but still buy them if they're good.

Ramsey 04-29-2005 12:47 AM
To encourage people to buy the albums. But hell, I DL full albums on soulseek all the time, but still buy them if they're good.
There, you answered it. People will either just download them somewhere else.

I mean, making a rule that states only 1 song should be uploaded per album is ridiculous, because in the end, stealing music is stealing music. Why the hell would you want to sugarcoat it? Just upload a whole album, jeez. You're not making it any worse or any better. You're still stealing.

ATM 04-29-2005 12:51 AM

If I download an album and like it, I'll normally buy something else from that band. It's a good way for me to find new music.

Riva 04-29-2005 01:09 AM

Hey all. How are we?

I'm really digging this Metallica song. Junglessence. Just got it off the YSI thread. It's quite good. Is it from a live album? I noticed it has Trujillo on bass.

I also prefer to buy albums then download them, but I usually check out new bands before I buy. Though quite a few of my favourite bands were actually blind buys.

ATM 04-29-2005 01:13 AM

Every time I blind buy, I get sorely dissapointed. Maybe you are just a smarter buyer then I am :/

I am digging this band Pilotdrift so much.

ArcLite 04-29-2005 02:02 AM

Same, I never had any luck. Now the only way I buy CD's from new bands is after I've DLed a few tunes. In my case, downloading music helps the music industry.

Riva 04-29-2005 02:25 AM

I guess I am an extraordinary buyer then. :)

Apocalyptic Raids 04-29-2005 03:23 AM

I try to buy albums instead of downloading, although lately it hasn't been turning out that way since i have had no money.
In response to 'Tender that is somewhat connected, I wish Sputnik reviewers were more encourage to only gove unbiased reviews, or more people reviewed albums they don't like. I also don't appreciate people who give high ratings to albums that suck but no one else would ever do and when they are told the band/album sucks they put up a big stink. I'm talking about pop reviews for the most part and music that people on these forums rarely listen to.
If I cared at all about Sputnik, I might agree. Not necessarily with the pop bit though.

Blind buys are good. Most of mine are usually cheap, though.
Taking back cds
I don't think I've ever taken backa cd. There have been a few that I've boguht and not been satisfied with but I always kept them.

ArcLite 04-29-2005 05:37 AM

I didn't think you could take back CD's. Maybe it's different in the UK, but here, once a CD is openned it can't be returned at most stores.

superpeer 04-29-2005 05:53 AM

Wow, you guys are acting like little children in the YSI thread. I've deleted the posts, now grow up.

Ramsey: It was me who was opposed to the downloading of entire albums in that thread. So complain to me.

Lord Abortion 04-29-2005 06:45 AM

You know damn well that that thread exists, and you know damn well that you can easily get albums through that medium, so really, I don't see how you're trying to justify your reasoning, especially since everyone who has used the thread has obeyed the rules except you. Hell, I've sent you an entire album over AIM. Jesus, I can't even comprehend why you think you can justify what you're doing.

/drops it because it got taken care of

Thanks, Jelle.

Now, good morning.

The one rough thing about being home is that I can't sleep in as long as I'd like. Plus, my brother is home sick today (terrific), so now I HAVE to stay in and take care of him. I'm not sure what's on tap today for me to do... I'll probably wind up burning all those albums I got from uni since I finally was able to get CD-Rs and cases last night, and possibly finish unpacking all the way :-\

Shred Danson 04-29-2005 09:47 AM

What's up, thread.

Meh...testing. I'm thinking of not doing it today. Again. I'm doing my part to fuck this school over before I leave  I haven't gotten kicked out from class YET today, surprise, surprise.

NP: Sentenced to Burn-Upon Open Gates (I should really stop advertising this band)

Tonight I am going to a Nationals game for my friend's birthday. I've never been before. It should be cool, plus his mom got us passes for a buffet!

Say, Joe, were you a member of The Strokes at one point?
