3 cd set.

That looked quite interesting, but I didn't have 30 bucks on me at the time. Probably wouldn't pay that much either.

GenuineImitation 12-27-2005 07:49 PM

I just got my Dad into DT. It rocks... we are going to watch Budokon tonight.

I just love the LTE parts of it, the way they blend Paradigm shift and Universal Mind.

the segue from the erotomania solo back to the dance of eternity is the single best moment of that song.

i got live in tokyo/5 years in a livetime dvd for christmas anyway, not as good as LSFNY or budokan, though mostly because neither is actually a live gig but excerpts. i haven't watched them all the way through yet though, but i have noticed that there seemed to be a lot more hair between the band in 1993.

Jev 12-27-2005 08:26 PM

Hey does anyone know what that thing is on Ruddess' keyboard? Is it sheet music?

I think its like a computer screen that displays the sheet music.

:-/ Weird. I don't see why he needs it. doesn't he learn the songs or something?
:-/ Weird. I don't see why he needs it. doesn't he learn the songs or something?
It must be hard to learn all the parts to a song like A Change of Seasons. Its probably there to give him a reminder of what is coming up next in the song.

It's very difficult to learn all the notes of Dream Theater on keys, besides he doesn't play only keyboards, he does a lot of things.

ghettoeddo 12-28-2005 01:21 AM

if you look closely, it is sheet music. but jordan said on budokan on the keyboard world thingy that he uses it as reminders to tell him what's coming up next, cuz he has the most complicated job out of all the members.

maybe im just a noob, but his rig totally blew me away. i couldn't follow half the things he said.

on a side note, my brother (he's 11) thinks linkin park and green day is better than dream theater because they "look cooler." goes to show that image is half of the package these days...

ghettoeddo 12-28-2005 01:22 AM
That fish on his keyboard makes me laugh...
his fish is actually in integral part of his live rig. sometimes, if you watch carefully, he'll reach around and touch the mouth of it. and then you get...

i ran out of ideas. not that i had one to begin with :upset:

I'd rather an 11 year old kid like that didn't like the same music as me...

Has anyone seen on the Live Scenes DVD, when there's an instrumental solo without him, and Jordan Rudess gets given what looks like a pizza box? That made me laugh so much.

Lord Abortion 12-28-2005 08:11 AM

I really must watch Budokan today...I slept until 1:30 though :p
My 11 year old brother has good music taste, apart from he likes ACDC...

He occasionally goes "That's just too much" when DT do something incredibly fancy on LSFNY when we watch it.

Yeah I guess so. Thinking about it he does do a hell of a lot.

I like AC/DC

Anyway, I got my 47 year old dad and 14 year old sister hooked on Dream Theater and Pink Floyd. Im working on Metallica, Symphony X and Rush as of now.

scenesfromatheater 12-28-2005 04:03 PM

Wow, I like this new skin.

I've got one guy into DT at my school. My dad won't get into them cause he thinks Bono and The Edge are some of the greatest musicians ever...retard. He liked I Walk Beside You however, you'd expect him to though really.

Man, I love surrounded, is it the LATM version?

His singing on LATM is unrivalled anywhere else in his live career if you ask me.

scenesfromatheater 12-28-2005 04:10 PM

Isn't some of the vocals on that done again though?

ghettoeddo 12-28-2005 06:21 PM

six! six six! the number of the beeeaast!

does anyone have WDADU to upload? i cant find it in local stores/the internet :-(

MidnightRider 12-28-2005 10:27 PM

The only DT songs I have are Pull Me Under and Overture 1928, and I love both of them. I really wanna hear some more of their stuff, what's a good cd to start with?

Deth 12-28-2005 10:39 PM

Probably Images & Words or Scenes From a Memory.

Lord Abortion 12-29-2005 07:03 AM

Yeah, Train of thought would also be an idea if you want a more traditional Metal album...
