I was going to buy the vegemite, but it said it was like a yeast extract, which didn't sound too good. Plus, Jason promised to send some. :p
It should be there by now. :/ I sent you some Wizz Fizz also.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-13-2007 02:30 AM

Wizz Fizz is also amazing.
Haha, there might of been. I was too thrown off by the mass number of whips, belts, and hats. :amaze: There was also this drink in there that was really good, it was like a root beer licorice. Can't remember the name, but Jason might be able to clear it up.
Sarsaparilla. Very tasty drink.

eug008 08-13-2007 03:38 AM

Sarsaparilla is bloody awsome, although I have had some pretty bad tasting ones in the past.

antihippy 08-13-2007 03:39 AM

i still don't get why people like vegemite.

sarsaparilla sounds good though.

eug008 08-13-2007 03:49 AM

Vegemite seems to be a love or hate thing. That being said, I think it's pretty nice.

Six Foot Revolver 08-13-2007 06:13 AM

I don't know wtf sarsaparilla or vegemite are =/.

My sleeping patterns are pretty normal atm (y).

antihippy 08-13-2007 06:18 AM

Vegemite good ol' aussie grub.

sarsaparilla is apparantly a plant that's good for root beers.

I just got my shipment of 20 random Batman comics from the mid 80's. Looks like the afternoon has been booked.

NemesisDivina 08-13-2007 11:33 AM

sweet. I have a bunch of old Spiderman comics sitting in my room. And I have The Amazing Spider Man #1, which is signed. It's in a frame though. :D

Bartender 08-13-2007 11:45 AM

I got some Green Arrow/Green Lantern comics a while ago (their first run together, from the start of the 70s), only to find that I'd got issues 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7. So I read the first three and haven't gotten around to filling in the gaps yet.

Haven't bought any more in a while now, actually.

Hang out with her and if she tries to make a move on you, knock her out with a tire iron and then piss on her dog.

The Green Lantern is criminally underrated.

Kage 08-13-2007 11:52 AM

One, one too many schizophrenic tendencies keeps it so complicated.

bwnstl 08-13-2007 11:53 AM

Hbp, you're the biggest post-whore I've ever seen.

NemesisDivina 08-13-2007 11:54 AM

Hbp is gone for the week :thumb:

You took the words right out of my mouth.
In related news, I love going away for the weekend and sifting through 10 pages of this thread, especially when half of that is the result of Hbp posting. Aren't 13 year olds supposed to be in school or something?

tastexmyxscythe 08-13-2007 12:48 PM

Anyone up for helping me out with a composition/theory question I'm having?

bwnstl 08-13-2007 12:50 PM

I'm sure someone will, although I'm wondering if it would be more useful to ask in the instrument sub-forums (Drums, bass, guitar, vocals, etc).

tastexmyxscythe 08-13-2007 12:51 PM

Possibly. I've never been around there and every time I venture out of R&M people are assholes. lawl. So I'm trying to avoid dealing with a vast majority of them if I can. I'll check around though

Kage 08-13-2007 12:53 PM

Well you might as well throw it out in here.

bwnstl 08-13-2007 01:01 PM

Yeah, we'll give you the tr00est answer anyways.

tastexmyxscythe 08-13-2007 01:08 PM

Righto. I've got a friend who wants to write stuff for the guitar. He asked me to help him with scale/chord theory, which I know little about. I have a basic knowledge of music theory and I can read music, but I'm going to be going to school in a couple weeks to LEARN all that stuff. He knows some scales and I'm not sure about chords.

But. I started to explain to him about keys, their respective scales and chords. I've got a Carcassi method book that gives you a Key, it gives you scales, it gives you scales using the modes, then it gives you "cadence" chords that go along with the key/scales. So I told him that picking a scale or a key to start would help a bit. For example, basing a riff on a pentatonic...or even a standard major scale.

He understood what I was talking about, but it still didn't explain how to APPLY.
So I gave him an example. The second guitar solo in Children of Bodom's Knuckleduster starts in a pentatonic on the "D" (or rather, "C" because they tune a whole step down) string. For the beginning of the solo, they use that pentatonic, only adding ONE extra note that isn't in the scale, adding a "2" instead of the "3" through the 1 - 3 pattern of the pentatonic on that string. I was screwing around on my guitar at the same time as explaining this, and as I played one of the riffs from Kissing The Shadows, I realized the same was true here. Children of Bodom had used a pentatonic scale, using a "2" in place of the "3" in some parts. Once again they'd only deviated from the standard pentatonic by that single note.

So I'm trying to understand something here, and this is where I end up having nooo idea where I'm going with this. If the "2"s in said riffs are sharps (which I think they are) does that have an affect (as they are recurring/main riffs in the songs) as to which key you're playing in? Could I use Key-of-C chords with a riff which seems like it belongs in the key of D?

If I'm totally being an idiot here, pleeeaaase tell me. lawl. I've confused myself now.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-13-2007 02:31 PM

don't tell him to write a song in using a pentatonic scale, that's idiotic. tell him to start with one of the standard diatonic scales.

and you can use some of the 'key of C' chords if the song is in D. (i'm assuming you're talking about Dm as this is children of bodom we're applying it to) i am too lazy to think of the common chords the two keys share, but it's definitely possible.

No offense but if you don't have a strong enough will to say exactly that you deserve to be made to buy things you know you can't afford.

Riva 08-13-2007 03:31 PM

Haha, you got worked over by a vacuum salesman? How hard is it to just say, "No, I need something smaller". I just can't imagine how you can upsell vacuums. Did he promise you chicks and fame if you bought the SUCKMASTER 3000 or something?

Eliminator 08-13-2007 03:34 PM

wtf they stole my nickname and put it on a vacuum?

Amit 08-13-2007 03:39 PM

You mean chips, right?

And I find that beer battered chips fresh from the oven are simply divine.

Now someone come and write this 60-page report for me.
