Yeah trust me John they really are. The whiny intonation caused by all the harmonies and layering are gone. He still sometimes does this weird squeak but only when he goes really, really high.

Plus it's vocally much, much more varied. While Rody does essentially all the vocals (with not nearly as help as he used to have), he's learned how to do surprisingly powerful low growls and his high scream has some outstanding moments as well. There's a few things he does I'm not entirely sure about but it still works.

I have a tiny bit of anticipation for whenever I get to hear this then.

Bloodmeat is so safe though it really is. I mean the whole Saddest Day meets Sugar Coated Sour thing is really badass, and the sort of unnecessary scatting is cooolass, but the rest of the song sounds way too Kezia-like.

Sequoia Throne? That's actually my least favourite, mostly because the leads are overpowering while the rhythm and bass guitars are actually really cool. Plus, of all the tracks on the album, it makes the least sense.

He'll dislike PTH more, because he can justify the lax Dragonforce comparisons now that Vadim has a short and horrible keyboard solo on the album.

I think its really good from what I heard i obviously didnt listen to the whole thing. If that and Bloodmeat are vaguely the worst songs there is perhaps hope for this record!

yeah they are I'd think. Well Bloodmeat isn't on the bottom or anything it's just the safe-single track. The rest sound like a totally different band (while still sounding like them I guess)

Depends, really. Bone Marrow, Palms Read and Wretch are the three best. Eachis from a separate 'movement', and they're really necessary to hold it all together. The other tracks are great but dont stand as well on their own.

Once, years back, when they had their own store and charged me for a shirt they never shipped. Again, two years back, when they had a store run by Killthe8 and they charged and never shipped.

They run their own store so maybe third time (sort of?) is a charm?

I'm not pre-ordering. I'll just go to the store on the 29th. I have the album so Im really just rushing for the booklet.

I'm pretty sure it was Underground Operations... But they have proved in the past that they are slow. My girlfriend ordered me a shirt from their website and it took 4 weeks to get here.

I couldn't pass up the poster and shirt offer with it too though...

Well that's just because you're cross-border. My problems with them all happened before they got hooked up with Universal, I'd imagine they're more efficient now. Give them some credit though, they're a really small label, they really dont have a huge staff at all. Tiny tings.

Yeah she did, she was great in fact. I've had the album for almost a month now. Review is about 80% done I think. Soundoff will be up tonight, review should be up Wednesday.

What ended up happening is the e-mail with the stream got lost because I still use Hotmail like the sucker I am. So then she got back to me and said, "oh, I'll courier a hardcopy", and I said, "if it's easier you could just forward it back to me".

And then half an hour later I had the stream. The next day, I had a hardcopy. She took care of me for sure.

Oh, very good. For whatever reason, you're the only staffer who establishes his own contacts that rarely runs into problems with labels/artists/etc. Dave and I never have a problem, but mostly because we did our own thing. Nick obviously has had issues, but mostly because he tries to shoot for the moon all the time (e.g. Thrice). The other staffers I'm not really sure about. It's very rewarding to know that some of us are having success.

I probably wouldn't have bought it, but it was only $7 so I pre-ordered the CD. The shipping for UPS was about $10 though (I guess that includes insurance). But through the mail it was like $1.

I dont mind the shirt but I won't pre-order it for the simple fact that UO has lost every single order I've ever placed with them.

Review is almost done, there's just one paragraph I have to tweak because it's a total mess.
