They blew everybody out of the water, and I mean by miles. Ian was top notch as usual, amping the crowd like few frontmen can. I think the addition of Ilan Rubin was one reason they were so tight. Their sound was huge and constantly driving and the lighting was awesome. Earls Court was all floor and their was moshing and "dancing", as Ian calls it, past the sound and lighting rigs, so that's a good indication of how powerful they were. The whole place went nuts.

BTW, their new drummer only did a few shows with Fenix Tx after they kicked their drummer off a tour. Denver Harbor is the band that he was in and was also touring on the same bill so FTX asked him to fill in for the rest of the tour.

So, tonight I went to see Silverstein. It turned out to be an awesome show.

They were the only band on the show that didn't scream. People didn't seem real into them, but I enjoyed them. They had some slow songs that really helped switch things up after a night of screaming.

Third time seeing them, and they were great as usual. They played an awesome set, and closed the night out with "Bleeds No More". People were going crazy the whole set.

These guys were awesome, as usual. They had so much energy, and everyone was going crazy for them.

At one point, I fell over, and ended up with like four people on top of me. Only a couple people even bothered trying to help everyone up, so I was on the ground for like 2 minutes. The whole night, I was one of the few guys helping people up when they fell. :-\

[B]Taking Back Sunday[/B]
Amazing. The crowd didn't have as much energy during their set, but it was still awesome. They played pretty much evey song I wanted to hear, and they were great.

That's a bummer about Emanuel I love them. I'm not into Story of the Year, and I can't belive the crowd had more energy during SOTY than during TBS. Well that REALLY sucks about falling on the ground. I always help people up, people that don't are bitches, can't stand people like that. The only song I didn't get to hear that I wanted to when I saw TBS was There's No I In Team.

I would have liked to hear "There Is No I In Team" as well, but either way their setlist was great.

I think the crowd had more energy for Story of the Year because their music is more intense than Taking Back Sunday's.

I'm guessing that this was the first concert a lot of these people had ever been to. It was at a college campus, so it was really cheap for students. That's the only excuse for why a lot of these people had no idea what to do.

Well yesterday I went to the Bamboozle festival with Crimble and it was quite a fun time. I got to see Streetlight Manifesto, Motion City Soundtrack and Thursday. I had to go late because of lacrosse so I missed Bayside. When we first go there we sat down and ate while watching Hidden In Plain View and HelloGoodbye from a distance. Both played well but I'm not to familar with either of them. Then after that we waited for a while to Streetlight to come on and when they played they were amazing. There set was:

After Thursday a good portion of the crowd including me left. I would've thought more people would stay to see Fall Out Boy. Well anyway all in all i had quite the day there.

Got to see Blackout Pact, Heavy Heavy Low Low, The Number 12 Looks Like You, and Fall of Troy last night

Incredible concert, even got to burn in Heavy Heavy's van with the band, laid-back guys, pretty small venue, but good atmosphere, people watched your back in the pit, though some gigantic dude knocked me down when he kicked me in the back, and its upsetting how many people don't know how to hardcore dance (me included) Fall of Troy was definitely the best, the guitar work was mezmerizing, especially considering that its all done by one guy with looping pedals, who also sings

Heavy Heavy low low was good, but I wasnt familiar enough with them so their set seemed to blend together, same with blackout pact

I can't wait to see The Fall of Troy at Warped Tour, I wish The Number 12 were going to be there I really want to see them too. Sounds like a sweet show though.

I'm seeing the Fall Of Troy for the fourth time in June, with He Is Legend. It's going to rule.

I've got two He Is Legend albums and don't listen to them much. I enjoy them though, that should be sweet.

TBS didn't really impress me that much when i saw them. They were pretty good for stage presence but the music wasn't all that good.

Whew, I was blown away by them. I thought they played so good, I can't wait to see them again!

I saw Me First And The Gimme Gimmes on Sunday night, to be honest they could've been better. They were hilarious on stage, especially Fat Mike and Joey Cape, but their set list wasn't brilliant and despite being on stage for a long time they didn't seem to play that many songs.

Still good fun though

These guys are a melodic punk (?) band from Quebec. I had never really heard them before, but they were pretty good.

I've seen these guys once before, and they're actually pretty good. Their were a fair number of people there who knew them, since they are from Rochester, and play a lot of shows in the Western New York area.

[B]Fifth Hour Hero[/B]
Pop-punk band from Quebec. They were really good, although they didn't really fit in that well with the other bands.

[B]Fire When Ready[/B]
I think these guys played with Marathon in Rochester in March. A lot of people seemed to be really into them, and they put on a great show.

[B]MARATHON[/B]
By the time these guys came on, the whole venue was packed. I was standing right at the stage when they started, and immediately got pinned up against the stage. To avoid getting my legs borken, I ended up crounching on the stage for the entire set. It was so awesome.

Anyway, Marathon started out with "Painting By Numbers", followed by "Some Lovely Parting Gifts", and "Home Is Where The Van Is". About halfway through their set, Aaron (the lead singer), took time to give "awards" to his band members. He even had trophys to give them. It was really cool.

The band closed out the set with a few songs from [I]Songs To Turn The Tide[/I], followed by "Courting My Soul", and, of course, "I Don't Have A Dancing Problem". By this time, there were about 50 people standing on the stage singing along. It was unbelievable.

Marathon was one of the greatest bands I ever had the pleasure of listening to, and they will continue to be one of my favorites. They're great guys, and their music has meant a lot to me over the past 10 months or so. It's hard to believe that such a great band is over. Last night was seriously one of the greatest nights of my life. I'm so grateful that I had the chance to see these guys three times in less than a year. It's too bad more people won't ever get the chance to have that experience.

Ya it's a bummer I won't ever get to have that experience! I love Marathon they are awesome. Sounds like an amazing show Brian.

Wow, it's been so long since I wrote a review in this thread. I've been to eight shows since that Marathon show.

Anyway, tonight I went to see Just Surrender with As Tall As Lions, David Melillo, and Transition. A couple locals played too, but they weren't much good, so I won't even waste time talking about them.

I'd never heard these guys before, but they were so good. Their music was really catchy, and they had a lot of energy, despite the fact that it was unusually hot today.

They even did a cover of "Story Of A Girl", by 9 Days. It was so awesome. I hadn't heard that song in years, but they did a great job with it. It was definitely the high point of a great night.

I'm seeing these guys again in a couple months with Reel Big Fish, MXPX, Streetlight Manifesto, and Whole Wheat Bread. I plan on buying their CD at that show. It's going to rule.

These guys were pretty good. I enjoy their music, but they weren't that impressive live. They didn't have much energy, and they wasted a lot of time trying to get everything to be perfect*. They were still pretty good, but I thought their set could have been better.

*This wasn't entirely the band's fault, as the sound guy wasn't very good, but it still ended up causing them to have to cut their set short.

[B]David Melillo[/B]
AMAZING. Every song he/they played was so awesome. He played three songs with the full band, and two songs alone, with just an acoustic guitar. The songs with the full band were really good, and the songs he played alone were even better.

I picked up a copy of his EP for 5 dollars. I was really impressed.

I've seen these guys a bunch of times, and they never manage to draw much of a crowd, even though they are a really good band, and put on a great show. Tonight was no different. They were awesome as usual, and only about 50-75 people even botheredd to hang around and watch.

Either way it was an awesome night.

I bet David Melillo ROCKED I love that guy you're so luck! I've been listening to him for some time now, I hope he played Sam's Song that song is amazing. Man I would be at Just Surrender every single time they came through how can they not draw a big crowd? I love them, man sounds like a sweet night Brian.

I never actually caught the beginning of this set, as I was still trying to get into the venue. I also have never heard any of theyre songs, but they were alright I guess, nothing special.

[B]Angels and Airwaves[/B]
I felt like I was the only person there who appreciated this band. And theyre actually pretty good live, until the supermassive long intros got boring, and Tom started waffling on about how he changed the world. Overall pretty enjoyable.

[B]Queens Of The Stone Age[/B]
I absolutely love this band, and they didn't disappoint, Josh Homme is still piling on the pounds, and has now gone for dying his hair black. The first band of the day to get a proper singalong from the crowd, [I]Go With The Flow[/I] was one of my highlights of the day. So much better than I expected them to be.

[B]Motorhead[/B]
I won't lie, I actually only know one of this band's songs, so I decided to go grab something to eat, and go to the toilet while they were on. This actually took the length of their set, as I guess around half of the crowd had the same idea as me. Ace of Spades was awesome though

[B]Foo Fighters[/B]
The headliners of the day exceeded all expectations and put on the best gig I've ever been to. Dave had 85,000 people singing along to his every word, and they were amazing. Lemmy from Motorhead made a guest appearance on Vocals, and Brian May and Rodger Taylor from Queen joined the band in a rendition of a Queen song I didn't actually know :p

Overall, the whole thing was certainly worth the money.

Tonight I got to see Bayside, for free. It was my first free show, and my first day of work at the club.

This band is so awesome, but they really didn't fit the show. There were only about 20 people who knew their music, and they didn't seem real into it because of that.

At one point the lead singer announced that they would be back with Lifetime, which drew practically no response. He then asked if anyone knew who Lifetime was, and only a few people did. It was sad, really.

The lead singer also took the time to make fun of a young scenester girl. He was saying things like "Don't worry, in a few months you'll be getting your braces off", and "Having your bangs covering your eyes like that gives you an anti-social appearance". It was hilarious.

[B]Bayside[/B]
It's hard to believe that I used to not like these guys. They put on an awesome show, and every one of their songs is awesome.

They were great tonight, as usual.

Okay, so today I went to "Edgefest". The show was held in a convention center, and the sound quality was quite poor, but it was still a good time.

These guys were the first band to play. I wasn't really into them, so I walked around, and listened to them from a distance.

[B]Speakerfire[/B]
These guys are a local rock band. They aren't really doing anything new, but I happen to enjoy them. They put on a decent show, but I think they're much better in a club setting.

[B]Halifax[/B]
Good, as usual. They played the exact same set as they did when I saw them 4 days ago though.

[B]Rock Kills Kid[/B]
It's been over a year since I first saw these guys, but I'm still impressed with them. Their music is really fun, and upbeat, and they're really enjoyable to listen to. I need to buy their CD one of these days.

[B]Anberlin[/B]
I saw these guys 4 days ago, with Halifax, and, like Halifax, they played the exact same set. To be honest, I like these guys a lot better on record than I do live. They seem to throw in a lot of unnecessary screams during their live set, and they just don't work. The lead singer also isn't that great live.

Still an awesome band, but they've never been quite as good live as the first time I saw them (pre-[I]Never Take Friendship Personal[/I]).

[B]Hit The Lights[/B]
These guys were on the show with Halifax, Anberlin, and Hawthorne Heights as well, and like Anberlin and Halifax, they too played the exact same set. No big deal though, as, once again, they were great. Their music is so catchy, and they're really good live.

[B]Thousand Foot Krutch[/B]
I watched these guys from a distance. From what I could tell, they were just pretty much a generic radio-friendly rock band. Meh.

[B]The Subways[/B]
I watched these guys from a distance as well. They seemed pretty good, I guess. Their music was fairly catchy, and seemed like something I'd listen to on a rare occasion.

[B]Matchbook Romance[/B]
These guys were a disappointment in that they only played one old song, to go along with 5 new ones. They were still really good, but I would have liked to have seen them mix it up a bit more.

[B]Buckcherry[/B]
This band sucks. I half-listened to them from a distance, and their music was bland and obnoxious. Easily the worst band of the night.

[B]30 Seconds To Mars[/B]
These guys were the first of four "headliners". Each headliner played about an hour, and had an elaborate stage/light set-up.

I kind of find their music to be boring and repetitive, but I do like them live. Like the last time I saw them, they had a lot of energy, and the crowd was really into it. They definitely got the best reception of any band that played.

[B]Hawthorne Heights[/B]
This was my 8th time seeing these guys, and they were really good, as usual. They played more or less the same songs as they did when I saw them a few nights ago, but that didn't much matter, as they played pretty much everything.

Basically, every other song they play is off the new album. It works out well, because old and new fans alike will know at least half the set.

[B]Yellowcard[/B]
I was actually pleasantly suprised by these guys. I like their music, but I expected them to play a lot of songs off the new album. They only played a couple new songs though, and filled the rest of their set with hits from other albums, which was cool, because I don't really know the new album. I'd say these guys were probably one of the top 3 or 4 bands of the night.

[B]Taking Back Sunday[/B]
Awesome. I really like these guys, and they never fail to disappoint live. They played pretty much every song I wanted to hear, and had an awesome stage set up.

Overall, it was definitely worth the $30. The venue wasn't great, due to the incredibly poor osund quality, and the crowd sucked (a lot of people were drunk.), but it was still a really good show.

That also marks the end of seven straight nights at a concert, which in a way is a good thing, because I'm pretty much dead.

I'm back at it Friday though, for The Number Twelve Looks Like You.

My current favourite band played in my front room on Saturday. That was probably the best show I've ever been to, so far. Well it was the whole of the night that made it actually. Mostly the copious drinking/talking **** with the whole posse of them after.

I'll just write some quick reviews of bands I've seen.

30 Seconds To Mars

While Jared Leto may have had the energy of a racing horse the fact that the sound at this free concert was just way too bothersome. The band played for at least forty-minutes and other than the sound were really good. They opened up with the song [i]"A Beautful Lie"[/i] and that pumped everyone up. At the end they left, but came back quickly for an encore and played a song from their first album and then the awesome song [i]"The Kill"[/i]. Overall it was good, besides the bad sound setup. 3/5

Senses Fail

Now this is a band you'd think would be horrible live, right? Wrong. The energy each member showed was amazing and the two guitarists kicked it in high gear. Buddy could be understood completely and the whole crowd was crazy. 4.5/5

The Early November

While I don't think too highly of the band the rest of the crowd at the concert definitely was. I was at the very front, but I felt like I was in the middle of the mosh pit. The whole audience was absolutely balistic for the whole set. I was swayed back and forth and everyone basically was falling everywhere. It was a miracle I managed to stay at the front for the set. The band themselves were actually really sweet. Ace' vocals were better than they are on recording and the sound was superb. 4/5

went with a couple of lady friends to go see the dashboard confessional show in toronto today.

1st off, The Molson Ampitheatre sucks. The security guards there treated everyone like cattle, and screamed at them for no apparent reason.

But as for the show, I saw Dashboard, John Ralston and City/Colour. Say Anything were supposed to be there too (and were the main reason I went) but as Chris from dashboard oh so elegantly put it... "He has the streptococcus".

Anyway, as for the others. After being herded around like cattle for almost 2 hours through multiple ticket checks and lineups me and my friends finally got in and got a seat. Apparently pit tickets were more expensive (and apparentley the other general admission tickets didn't include the floor), but we got decent seats in the centre of the venue.

John Ralston comes on, and I personally think he was pretty good. He seemed fairly nervous and didn't say much to the audience except for thank-yous in between songs. I would have probably enjoyed him more if there weren't 4 pre-pubescent girls behind me whining about how he "sucked" and how they want dallas green to come on.

Then, after a 15 minute intermission (I.E, the roadies needed to re-arrange the stage) it was City and Colour time, in this case it was Dallas Green doing guitar/vocals, his cousin on keyboard, and some other friend of his (who's name escapes me) playing secondary guitar. First, I love his voice. Second. He is a very skilled guitar player. He also interacted alot more with the crowd, which was nice and he talked about a festival coming up in St.Cathrines soon that I might head out to aswell. Cut a story short, he was by far my favourite of the night.

Then dashboard. I was looking foreward to them the least, and after the confusion of "where the hell is say anything" I came to terms that I wouldn't be hearing any songs from SA. But back to dashboard, they're okay. I never liked them on record and although they are very energetic live chris seems to take himself too seriously. They had a really nice stage show though, with backdrops and such. And they covered Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees" which was interesting. They ended up playing for nearly 2 hours because they wanted to make up for say anything's absence which I thought was very cool.

Anyway, after that I went and bought City and Colour's album at the merch booth (which was unfortunately run by the venue, not the band's own merch guy, so all the shirts were 28$ and CDs were 15$) I was on my way home.

I am probably going to TOC with my Brother. Alexisonfire + TBS in one concert is too much to miss.

The few times I've seen Houston Calls, they've been really good. They have a lot of energy, and their shows are usually pretty fun.

The first time I saw Dredg, I found them to be really boring, but the second time they were great.

Never seen the Bloodhound Gang.
