I buried paul isn't it

DeusExMachina 12-19-2004 09:05 PM

Not sure, but there is a lot of talk about Paul is Dead in some of the stuff. Supposedly, in Revolution 9, you're supposed to hear the car crash that "killed" Paul. Also, supposedly "number nine" backwards is "turn me on dead man" but I don't know how they'd get that to work.

I forgot wich song has "haha paul is dead"at the end

DeusExMachina 12-19-2004 09:17 PM

Not sure which one. They had so much weird stuff in their music, its hard to keep up with it all.

gmoneyguy 12-19-2004 09:19 PM

I used to know it. I think it might be in I am the walrus, and I buried paul is another song.
I'll rember it when I listen to it before I go to bed.

Little_wing 12-19-2004 09:28 PM
Agreed, he had the best Beatles solo career.
I don't think so, George owned his solo career.

Agreed.

Little_wing 12-19-2004 09:33 PM
Yeah. I don't have any vinyl (my parents had a super awesome collection, but it all burnt away when i was 4...:upset: ) But apparently Piper At The Gates of Dawn had some weird thing where it went back to the start when you finished the vinyl, so it auto repeated... I know its the wrong band, but yeah, on the topic of vinyl. Does anyone know what's actually being said at the end of Sgt. Peppers? It sounds kind of like "never could be any other way" but its really hard to tell.
Random clips of things the beatles said around abbey road recording studio, cut up and spliced into each other so that it sounds wierd. Lennon's the one who came up and did it all. Must have been to much bad acid

Badmoon 12-19-2004 09:50 PM
I don't think so, George owned his solo career.
Agreed x2.

George's career covered much more ground than any of the other Beatles did. Gospel, Indian, Psychedelia, Hawaiian, Folk, ect. Plus, I just prefer his music.

The man knew how to play 46 instruments also.

Broken Arrow 12-19-2004 09:54 PM

I thought it was 47.

Little_wing 12-19-2004 10:00 PM

well every one has there preferences

DeusExMachina 12-19-2004 10:51 PM

46 instruments..? That's kinda scary. In a totally awesome sort of way.

and he always had great great musicians playing with him: Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Roy Orbinson, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Gary Brooker, Billy Preston, Ray Cooper, etc.

And i think it was 46, but does it matter, he could play anything with strings basically. I think Harrison's songs are some of the Beatle's most beautiful (Here Comes the Sun, Something), or his playing is the reason why they are beautiful (i.e. Norwegian Wood). His understated guitars solos were perfect for the beatles as a band.

morrissey 12-20-2004 01:36 AM

To be honest, I disliked alot of George's older guitar solos. They lacked something, I don't know what it was, they just weren't very appealing. That being said, everything... say, post-1965, I'm fond of.

Coldy 12-20-2004 01:59 AM

Heh Bonzo, most of those guys were in the Traveling Wilburys with him.

B0nz0 12-20-2004 02:33 AM
Heh Bonzo, most of those guys were in the Traveling Wilburys with him.
yes they were, but also appeared on other stuff, and there are many recordings floating around of him live with these guys. there are also a LOT more... i just threw out the best known names. it's def not limited to the traveling wilburys, they just happen to be the best known ppl (and i wonder why, that was prob the superest super group ever...)

Walrus Gumboot 12-20-2004 10:14 AM

What is Harrison's best solo album?

gmoneyguy 12-20-2004 10:15 AM

All Things Must Pass

BludgeonySteve 12-20-2004 11:35 AM

Man, Abbey Road is one hell of an album. Though strangly it doesn't have very many of their best known songs :/

B0nz0 12-20-2004 11:37 AM
All Things Must Pass
O ya you are an Abbey Road noob, I forgot. It is a good album, but I don't see how it is everyone favorite.

We have the CD for that, and I saw the video on TV. Great stuff.

And having like 15 guys playing at once. Three drummers, assloads of rhythm players, several bass and leads....oh baby.

Gossamer175 12-20-2004 11:54 AM

I like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band the best. The whole psychadelic thing was really interesting to me. Other than that one another album i enjoyed was Magical Mystery Tour.

It's not my favorite. I like The White Album and Sgt Peppers more, poo poo head.

glenn_danzig 12-20-2004 12:33 PM

Rubber Soul is the best.

I think Abbey Road is better then Sgt. Peppers.

White Album>all though.

Jam2Me 12-20-2004 01:09 PM

Hmm I just psoted this in that Classic Rock htread but it probly fits in better here.

Has anyone else heard the Beatles were hugely influenced by the Beach Boys?

Yep, they loved the Beach Boys' harmonies. They were also influenced a ton by Bob Dylan.

Abbey Road=White Album=Rubber Soul. To me, either one of those albums>Sgt. Peppers.

Revolver influenced Pet Sounds, which in turn influenced Sgt. Pepper's. Rumor has it that when Sgt. Pepper's came out, Brian Wilson just trashed all this music he had been working on, because he felt that the definitive album of the 60's had already been made. Dunno if its true or not. While we from our perspective in the new millenium may say that Sgt. Peppers isn't as good as the other albums, when it came out it was by far the most mind blowing and anticipated album. It really showed their evolution more than any album, because it was so dramatically different.

And, call me a noob all you want, but I've been listening to the Beatles for a long *** time and I say that Abbey Road is the best. For now, at least. MMT is catching up.

Little_wing 12-20-2004 02:30 PM

i like the white album the best. it never gets old for me, i guess that would have something to do with the whole double LP.

Or it could have been something to do with him being crazy?

The influence was also reversed. I remember reading an article say ing the they were really impressed with The Beatles, when they came to America.

Especially the bolded songs.

Better than John Lennon?

Little_wing 12-20-2004 03:08 PM
