Owns. Needs to be louder.
*Blame Game- "Dr Hathaway"
Same.
Camaro Crotch
Worst recording job ever. Sounds like it's done with a stereo and cassete.
Me And You Call It Us- "Innocent Bystanders Watched In Horror As Peter Jennings Drew His Murder Weapon"
WHY DOES THIS NOT HAVE A FUCKING STAR NEXT TO IT THIS OWNS OWNS OWNS BEST SONG BY FAR even though its probably not screamo in any way
*Lack- "Kill Britney"
Haha cowbell. This is pretty good. Great drums. And that guitar thing at 1:45 owns. I like these guys.
*Milemaker- "Chronology Of The Service Industry"
The effect thing is cool. If that's a guitar, I hate it. If it's a bass, please use more guitar.

The Great Tomorrowland Famine
Second song is kind of cool. There's a lot of indie here. Still, they're pretty boring most of the time to me.
*The Hal Al Shehad- Local Seeing
Get a new name, it sounds too much like Shai Hulud. Also, this sounds really boring to me as well, mostly because of the recording and vocals.
*Wheeljack- "Kulture Kampf"
Jesus, all these bands need a better recording job, they sound the same and a lot of the earlier bands had good recording quality. This sounds a lot like Death Of Marat from before, except the noisy sections are better. I dislike the vocals though.
Going back to Rise Against, I think the reason I like them so much is because it really sounds like they mean it in the music. They are a very political band who do have some variety to their subjects but the way they play their instruments and especially the vocals are really poignant and candid. I love how it inspires me to believe whatever they believe even if it really isn't the way I think. They have that ability to trasmit a palpable yet difficult to pinpoint emotion throughout their music, which is why they totally own, man.
you should definitely get siren song of the counter culture. i still like revolutions per minute a little better, but siren song of the counter culture is still really really good.

Thanks for actually listening. There's some good stuff there. The recording is horrible on a couple, I don't know why. And I have no idea why I didn't put a star next to Me And You Calls It Us, that song does fucking own.

SubtleDagger 01-08-2005 12:32 PM

That part at about 43 seconds into that Me And You Call It Us song kicks my ass six ways to Sunday.

cbmartinez 01-08-2005 12:40 PM

BuddyBigsby 01-08-2005 03:50 PM

I downloaded a couple, it's good stuff.

SubtleDagger 01-08-2005 11:38 PM

Why the hell did I say 43 seconds?

I meant 23. That part kills.

cbmartinez 01-10-2005 07:55 PM

Yeah, Combatwoundedveteran kick so much ass.

BuddyBigsby 01-10-2005 08:47 PM

This is true.

cbmartinez 01-10-2005 08:52 PM

Scott ( :naughty: ), I saw you say something about Codeseven used to scream? Did I interpret this right?

BuddyBigsby 01-10-2005 09:13 PM

Yeah, listen to something off of their Division of Labor album, or anything before The Rescue for that matter.

BuddyBigsby 01-10-2005 10:03 PM

I'm naming you Mitch.

Wallside, amazing MI 'emo' band.

There are hardly any emo bands left. Milemarker and stuff are clearly not emo.
What gives them more emotion than, say, My Chemical Romance?

the-UK-ska-scene 01-11-2005 02:12 PM
I bet that vallely guy made a new user name he thought sounded emo (A Year and an Ocean) and now is trying to reestablish himself and win back our hearts since we broke him.
You shouldn't have been so mean. He was just a little confused or what have you, and SubtleDagger did say that MCR were "pop-punk" which clearly they aren't on most of the first album. The second album... Yeah maybe. Haven't listened to it much yet.

Silly emo elitists

I'm going back to my ska thread now, where I can poke n00bs around and make them my bitch...

Anyone heard about The Fall Of Troy? I'm looking for artists who sound close to this:

http://www.purevolume.com/thefalloftroy

I like fast, complex, guitar riffs above everything else, along with lots of screaming and an emo touch.

chips88 01-11-2005 07:17 PM

and The Fall of Troy is pretty freaking awesome.

A Year and an Ocean is a song by The Khayembii Communique. An excellent band, you should check them out. And no, I just stumbled across this whole thing online last night and thought it looked cool so I joined.
They've been a band whose mp3's have eluded me for a long time now. Can you send me some songs through AIM. The screen name is DFelon204409. My connection is ridiculously fast because I'm at college.
Fall Of Troy are fairly unique, or at least I've never heard another band quiet like them.

The closest I can think of is Fordirelifesake. Amazing band with amazing talent. http://www.purevolume.com/fordirelifesake

The best songs on their newest album, Dance.Pretend.Forget.Defend. are "Recover", "Ammunition For Your Conversation", and "Dependant On Affection".

Another band, The Sound Of Animals Fighting, is more melodic than the two, more like Mars Volta than anything, but still reminiscent of what I think you're looking for.

http://www.myspace.com/thesoundofanimalsfighting (clips, not full songs)

If you like either of the two, hit me up on AIM (IbleedtheskyI) and I'll send you whatever :thumb:

cbmartinez 01-11-2005 07:41 PM

Dfelon likes the Fordirelifesake. He's the one who told me about them.

Beware though, if you're one of the people who hates Anthony Green from Saosin (formerly), you might wanna stay away. He's the vox.

Okay, anyone ever heard of a band called Light Fuse and Get Away (and no, I'm not talking about Light the Fuse and Run). I picked up a live demo and it sounded pretty sweet but I think the band was more of a joke than anything? I dunno. Just wondering if anyone knew anything about this band.

Really? Well I don't dislike him, I just wondered for a while if it really was a man singing when I first discovered Saosin... :amaze:

BleedTheSky, are you the one who made a list of emo/screamo/indie and related bands? You made a large post of bands just listing bands beginning with A, then B... I can't find that thread, anyone have the link? I need to check out some new bands.

I don't know why I never got around to doing the rest of the alphabet. Lazy, I suppose.

I should add "An Embrace Of Angels" and "Heroes And Hearasy" to that list. Solid emo bands.

Too bad I'll never hear anther song from them again ever.

Saturday Supercade 01-12-2005 06:28 AM

This thread is getting way to big cause all of those ignorant people calling pop-punk bands - emo!

My favourite emo bands: Rites of Spring, Fugazi, Hoover, Still life, Christie Front Drive, Elliot.
