Haven't heard much of Faith no More, I want to be able to stop thinking of Epic when I hear Faith no More. It starts quite heavily, a huge wall of sound. There's some cool slap bass in there, somewhere. Funky, if you will. There's a cool synth in there. Drums are pretty normal. Patton's voice come in, it's not his usual unmistakable drawl that I love. It's a pretty upbeat song, it's cool so far. Pretty samey though. There's some cool descending synth thing going on in the second chorus, sounds very carnivaly. Lots of laughing going on as well. Now Patton starts singing with only the bass, synth and drums, sounds cool. Guitar comes in, and some samples come in. And yeah! there's a sweet guitar solo. Some operatic singing now, over a cool synth. It's building to a grand ending, but doesn't quite pull it off. Oh well.

7/10. Pretty cool song, nothing I'd get excited about, though.

Accordian drums and flutes open up with a nice little intro.
Vocals come in and now it's just bass and drums with the vocals. A second singer comes in and they sing in harmony. The lyrics are rediculous and I can't decide if they're good or not.
There's a little instrumental break and vocals are back. There is a wierd effect on the voice.
Yay! Circus music! There is a little synth thing going on too. Oh wow, how cool is this? Very cool.
After that bit which was super awesome, drums bass and vocals come back in.
Yay! another one of these circus sections. This one's different. More psychadelic than the first. It's really happy sounding but I feel like there is this sense of irony in the music of something really forboding. Like the freakshows are carnivals.
There is a little bit more singing at the end and the song ends.

This isn't quite my first In Flames song, but it's close.
[b]In Flames - Cloud Connected[/b] - 3:40

Wow, starts off with some high-pitched, fast paced synth. Didn't see that one coming. Lower synth dun-duns in the background - heavy guitars start imitating this synth for a bit, then start making what they play flow together a bit more. I really like this bit, the guitars sound really good.

Vocals come in around 0:37, in his clean, not-quite-singing voice. He soon works his way up to a good yell though. It's pretty effective actually.

Chorus, I think, around 1:10, and a pretty cool little drum roll around 1:26. Quick burst of synth after the chorus, and back to the verse, but just as quickly another chorus. The chorus has a those odd, slightly distorted vocals, not entirely harsh, but not entirely normal, either.

Short (9 second) solo at 2:36. It starts promisingly, but peters out, especially as it's so short. Song fades out after a couple of quick guitar chugs, on synth.

Well, that was good. Not great though; although I liked the verses, I didn't like the chorus, and there wasn't anything really to it other than that. I was left kinda questioning whether the song had actually just played; something of a non-event. Not bad though.

Ben Harper

Okay, I have heard Ben plenty, but never this song. I do like him and his playing a lot also.

The playing starts off with some great acoustic guitar playing, possibly with a slide. It has a great groove, and great backing and lead vocals. Background clapping just adds to the feel perfectly.

The lyrics are great, very interesting. The track is soulful, and has plenty of Blues influence, apparentley. I just can't stop mainly being fascinated with the guitar playing. It's so unique and just fantastic. I've heard few slide players who can match that.

Government Mule-- Soulshine (acoustic rock)

Well, I got a live version of the song, but it's good as anything I'm sure (had a hard enough time finding this).

The song is pretty straightforward. A pretty acoustic guitar melody Plays steadily with soft, laid back drumming (not in a bad way) and some vocals I don't really like.

The song stays very much the same for 7 minutes of it, but it's still very enjoyable. I don't like the guy's voice, but I love Dylan and Zeppelin so that shows I can get used to anything. The simple but good chord progression is keeping me happy and the vocals (aside from the quality of his voice) are doing a good melody too. At about 7 minutes the song finally ends as do so many acoustic songs, a wind-down, fast strumming, etc.

Very good piece of work. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys the softer side of rock bordering on country. Top notch. I'll probably get into this band, unless this is a better rather than worse example of their singer's voice :thumb:
