Someone want to reccomend me some good alternative stuff? I'm open to pretty much any artist.

3rdplanet 02-06-2005 07:24 PM

Porcupine Tree is a good place to start ^

Especially In Absentia.

epihasi 02-07-2005 04:41 AM

Id like to know some bands sounding like:
-Slipknot
-rage against the machine
-Black label society

Especially some Slipknot-type would be great (vocal-wise), because i like corey's deeper voice than some Melodic death Metal Screams like CoB, although i love in Flames!...Thanks.
Epihasi.

Mushroomhead is pretty similar to Slipknot, both in music and vocals, but they experiment more.

Bartender 02-07-2005 11:09 AM

I don't think much of CoB, but I'll vouch for Everytime I Die at least as an excellent song.

Can somebody recommend me some "Quo Vadis"??

And is Dark Angel's "Time Does Not Heal" a worthy album??

Bartender 02-07-2005 02:57 PM

I've only heard one album by Quo Vadis (Day Into Night), and two unmixed mp3s from their forthcoming album, one of which, Silence Calls the Storm, is amazing, but I can't find either at the moment.

Day Into Night is great though, so I imagine they're just well worth checking out in general.

Can someone recommend me some like sad/depressing (not like emo) songs? Other than Opeth.

3rdplanet 02-07-2005 04:04 PM

You could try ISIS ^ Panopticon has some quite sad sounding songs, that's the best I can think of right now.

Can someone recommend me some Faith No More? Similar to their Song Evidence, because it officially is amazing.

Bartender 02-07-2005 04:04 PM

Which album is Song Evidence from?

Just because I haven't heard it, so knowing which album it's from will help me give recommendations from other albums.

It says it is from their Greatest Hits in WinAMP, which doesn't help me :(

Lyrics site says its from King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime.

Bartender 02-07-2005 04:54 PM

Oh, hah. I actually have that album, but I thought you meant a song called 'Song Evidence', not just Evidence.

Star A.D.

King for a Day

Everything's Ruined
Midlife Crisis

And yeah, I love the prices on Amazon at the moment. I'm waiting on several CDs from there at the moment.

I listen to pleny of In Flames, Arch Enemy, and Children of Bodom (they're not Gothenburg, but the sound is similar)....what else should I look into?

You could try Amon Amarth and At The Gates, they fit into the Melo-Death category.
