Dragonforce are so good fury of the storm has the funniest chorus ever. Anyone know any bands similar to them?
I quite like that chorus.

For similar speed...try Sonata Arctica and maybe Ensiferum.
It's not that clean and nice...
You gotta be shiting me. Power Metal is gay, and quite proud of it.

Twisted Tower Dire rips by the way!

Oh sure, just because that Manowar album cover turns you on... ;)

Please find a better adjective than "gay." It's just tired and immature.
I just discovered Children of Bodom. Those guys eat chains for breakfast. They have long hair and play the ultimate shred guitars: Jacksons. What more can I say. They own.
AHHH COB!!!! theyre great and the have funnny names, what a combo!

Ir0n_mE 11-05-2004 06:18 PM

Nevermore are kinda Power.

And why is that? It's a fitting adjective for the genre, both meanings of the word. How fucking politically correct to point out worthless shit like that.

And Manowar covers does indeed rule. Even Into Glory Ride. Sign Of The Hammer is quite possibly one of the coolest metal covers ever made. And definately one of the best Manowar albums.

Brew 11-05-2004 06:45 PM

Manowar were pretty gay, but other power metal bands don't come across as being gay at all.

But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter aslong as the music kicks arse.

I just think using the word like that is stale, tasteless, and immature. It's not funny, it's not witty, and it's really grautitous considering just how nebulous the English language is. Of course, I was also beginning to think no one around here gave a flying **** what I say, anyway.

And besides that, the only connection Power Metal has to gay subculture is wearing leather and chains, and all metal does that courtesy of Rob Halford who got the look from the England gay bar scene. So calling Power Metal gay isn't politically incorrect, it just doesn't make sense.

You missed my point. YOU are PC. It seems that the best way to come across as semi-intelligent on boards nowadays is to make half-assed remarks about others spelling and/or vocabulary. The language on messageboards has allways been kinda vocal, I mean, who the fuck cares? The worst thing is that you cunts drive threads completely off-topic.

Power Metal is still the gayest sub-genre of metal. It has grown to become pretty damn parodic and melo-dramatic, but there's still a lot of great bands out there. I actually like where things are headed nowadays, it seems that more and more heavy metal inspired bands are entering the scene, and the Stratovarius/Helloween copies are not so frequent anymore.

Now you're just getting really assinine. You completely missed my point. I don't give a rat's *** if you think I'm being politically correct, and I'm not trying to look intelligent because honestly I don't have to prove anything to you. I'm secure enough in my own intelligence that I talk however I want, so long as it's within the rules.
The worst thing is that you cunts drive threads completely off-topic.
Okay, dude, seriously. Don't get into a pissing contest with me, I'm not in the ****ing mood.

All I was saying is that I didn't think "gay" was an appropriate word for describing Power Metal. It has nothing to do with being politically correct. In this case, I just don't think it was the right word. I know gay people and they don't see any connection between gay culture and Power Metal.

Does that clear things up?

There's too many hormones on these boards.

Does anyone here like Angel Dust?

The band, not the narcotic. How about Eddy Antonini?

What are some good songs?

Bartender 11-06-2004 07:43 PM

I've only just heard of them, so I was going to ask the same thing :)

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-06-2004 08:18 PM

I just heard Ensiferum for the first time. I actually enjoyed it. That is until the cookie monster came on. That kind of ruined it for me.

I've heard a few songs by them, and thought they were pretty good. I think it reminded me of Iced Earth. :-/

Thunder Fingers 11-07-2004 08:55 AM

Best Power Metal bassist?

I would say Jari Kainulainen from Stratovarius..

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-07-2004 08:15 PM

Anyyyyyways

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-07-2004 08:27 PM

Anybody know any good Rhapsody songs? I have yet to hear a song from them.

Ir0n_mE 11-07-2004 08:30 PM

Rhapsody - Dark Tower Of Abyss
Symphony Enchanted
The Village of Dwarves

Bartender 11-07-2004 08:30 PM

The classic one is Emerald Sword. Most of their material is just wonderfully over-the-top metal though.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-07-2004 08:33 PM

Thanks

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-07-2004 08:45 PM

I just heard Kotipelto. I kind of like it.

sensitiveorgan00 11-07-2004 09:16 PM

His solo albums are wonderful :) argubly my favourite vocalist.

Ive been obsessed with "Wuthering Heights" as of late, great folkish power metal. and by they way, avoid the band "Battlelore"...absoulutly awful power metal lol.

I'll remember that. Bump.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-11-2004 04:17 PM

Well, since the Melodic Death Metal poll went over well, I was thinking about making one for power metal...
