Duck at Cubist Castle is amazing

Wanker 07-26-2004 08:27 PM

i'm starting to get into that goofy mid-90's rock like dishwalla and nada surf. change is good once in a while.

Clawdaddy 07-26-2004 09:32 PM

I have the Dishwalla album, it was great. Classic 90's one hit wonder.

Tangy zizzle 07-27-2004 02:32 AM

JR Ewing
Quicksand
Explosions in The Sky

All great bands. Explosions... especially. I'm lovin' these guys.

I heard the new Interpol single, Slow Hands. Solid Effort.
Opeth

Yeah, I'm finally starting to dig death metal.
I thought you always liked Opeth

I'm loving the Smashing Pumpkins still. After watching the video for "Try, Try, Try" and seeing the short film on the DVD, my respect for them has grown immensly. I'm also liking Aphex Twin.

Dark Hero 07-27-2004 12:23 PM
one small suggestion though, not to knock your choices, but try to focus on one or two at a time first to truly appreciate each one. dealing with that many bands youre sure to miss something each one has to offer.
Thanks for the advice :thumb:

Doctor D. 07-27-2004 04:01 PM

Bands I'm constantly listening to:

The Fiery Furnaces (Damn you Tangy and Nacho, you did it again)
One Million Dead
Skatalites
Rocket From the Crypt
X
Jawbreaker

OrbDragon 07-28-2004 03:08 AM

I'm listening non-stop Dälek these days...when I first listened to Filthy Tongue Of Gods And Griots...I couldn't really form an opinion on them. Recently I started listening to them again...and I realize it's some of the best stuff out there. Incredible.

Tangy zizzle 07-28-2004 03:21 AM

I've got hold of two of the songs from the recently leaked Blood Brothers album, Crimes. They are semi-mastered, and they sound pretty damn good so far. This album looks to be very very good stuff.

br3ad_man 07-28-2004 04:14 AM

I'm loving Brand New

clown_phobia 07-28-2004 04:16 AM

Nirvana
Possibly my favourite band. Classic. I own Nevermind and In Utero and I think both are amazing albums.

The Offspring
My favourite Punk band. They are really amazing. I love Americana. Getting smash soon, and I love Self Esteem.

I have been listening to the strokes' new single Reptilla. very good.

John Butler (of the John Buter Trio) is very underrated.

I wanna get some classic rock.

I love grunge and punk.

Tangy zizzle, if you don't mind, I might do an album of the week too.

My album of the week is: Americana by The Offspring.

br3ad_man 07-28-2004 04:25 AM

^^^
Get Unplugged In New York by Nirvana. Their best work imo.

clown_phobia 07-28-2004 04:34 AM

yeah i might... i've heard that it shows they're music's musical value because it's not just hidden behind a layer of distortion.

I just finally bought a few new albums, and I am completely and utterly blown away by Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come. Yes, I finally found a copy. I also just got the Mint Chicks EP, 'Octagon Octagon Octagon', and it is great.

I'm going to see Missy Higgins in a couple of hours, and man am I excited.

Ever since the new Pinback leaked, I've been grooving on it a lot. Otherwise it's been the usual: a bit of indie-pop and a bit of Isis/Pelican/Kayo Dot and a bunch of other random stuff.

Oh yeah, I've also been diggin' the demo from Mare, you fans of Isis and such should check them out. The Hydrahead website has one song from the demo for download. It might be hard to find the whole thing, I got it from an interweb friend.

Master Arkam Kannon 07-29-2004 11:41 AM

Futureheads

weneverspeak 07-29-2004 01:29 PM

vine all the way

i love love love the vines! they are the best band around (the clash is my fav of all time) oh i found this cool feature on http://www.busweiser.com/1 that talks about the vines. if you are a fan you should check it out!

OrbDragon 07-29-2004 03:17 PM

KUKL: Really creepy alt. punk/ambient music with Björk as lead singer.
The Cramps: Glorious alternative, raw no-nonsense, sick *** rock 'n roll
The Cocteau Twins: Ethereal alt. pop with Liz Frasers unique beautiful voice as the main focus
The Young Gods: awesome industrial band that scares the **** out of me.
Elysian Fields: Just checked them out...alternative suspense pop with sensual female vocals.

And I'm addicted to the song "Little Green Bag" by The George Baker Selection...for those who are wondering...it's the theme song in "Resevoir Dogs"...the song is amazing :p

I bought 'The Shape Of Punk To Come' yesterday (only by about an hour) and I am quite impressed with it. I don't instantly like it, which is a good sign, as it probably means I will grow with the LP and it will have longevity. My favourite tracks a.t.m. are;

Liberation Frequency
Summerholidays vs. Punkroutine
Refused Are Fuckin Dead - the final section in particular

Recently I have also been investigating techno, in particular the artists on 'The Matrix' soundtrack, i.e. 'Meat Beat Manifesto', 'Lunatic Calm' and 'Hive'. Unfortunately for me, the better meat Beat manifesto albums have been deleted, I can't find any lunatic Calm files anywhere and Hive's best is deleted in the UK. :( Can anyone help me out?

Good stuff! TSOPTC is a life-chaning album.

I just cannot get enough of the new Fiery Furnaces disc, it's so infectiously weird and wonderful. With gems like Wolfnotes, Chris Michaels and Mason City who wouldn't love it??!!

Also, I've kinda checked out Damien rice. He's pretty cool. His music is what I expected it to be, but it's also quite refrshing. Long live the singer/songwriter!

I met The Fiery Furnaces once. They went for a drink in this small venue's bar after a gig. There were a few really pretentious people trying to have proper conversations with them, but I just went up and asked them to sign the back of my sticker. They were very nice, but I think the guy was pissed, so that pretentio was wasting his time.

TSOPTC has already grown on me in these past few hours  I really want to buy an Isis album, but which is the best one to get, anyone?

Lucky bastard.

Oceanic would be your best bet for an Isis album.

Can you do a review of that sometime?
