It's excellent. It is best if you listen to it in one sitting, though. Everthing just goes together as a whole piece of music. Though your parents and grandparents may like it, it truly is worth a listen to by anyone with an appreciation for music. Whether it was worth the decades of waiting is an issue better examined by someone who has actually been alive long enough to go through the wait but it certainly a wonderful album. It has my recommendation.

Brian Wilson - SMILE

Bartender 10-01-2004 03:08 PM

Normally I wouldn't bother posting this here, but they're actually indie-related. Some of them, anyway.

Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals - Live From Mars - spurred on by the Like a King/I'll Rise finale, and the fact that it was on sale. Very good album.

Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool - also very good. He hasn't disappointed me yet (in all of my two purchases).

Big Black - Songs About Fucking - I've had about half of this downloaded for years, and I finally got around to getting it in physical form. Great album, and The Power of Independent Trucking is actually one of my favourite songs.

Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger - okay, slightly less Alt/Indie material. Good, though.

Bjork - Medulla - well, I liked Vespertine, and this sounded interesting. It has it's moments, definately, and sometimes it's really good. Not amazing though. I don't regret buying it, it's still something I want to have, I just wish I'd waited to find it in a bargain bin or something.

Ta da.

Thanks. I'm only back for one or two nights though, a flying visit home, before going back to University. Should have my very own connection by the 15th though. Hopefully.

I just got:

Miles Davis- "Bitches Brew"

as a late birthday present.

SCORE

Iai 10-02-2004 12:54 PM

No arguing with that. Bitches Brew is the most expensive Miles album round these parts though. :upset:

That's why it's such a score, I didn't have to pay for it.

It's around 25 bucks here, anywhere you go.

Iai 10-02-2004 12:58 PM

It's something like £16 here. As a comparison, Kind of Blue is £7, Sketches Of Spain £8, and In A Silent Way £7. Miles Smiles and Miles Ahead are even cheaper than that (both £5, I think).
