Um....anyone like Cheap Trick?
Yeah, they're not bad.
I know how you feel, do you know the name of that online scalper site?
Yeah, I assume you're talking about http://www.stubhub.com, right? I checked but tickets there are like $150 at the cheapest, which I'm not willing to pay for Gilmour. If it was Pink Floyd... but not for just Gilmour. I wonder if Livewired got tickets. Did you try for tickets?

Everyone go read my review of Brainwashed- http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?p=5097

Such an awesome album.
Man metal has a lot of classifications. I enjoyed learning the difference between death and black metal.
Rock has its fair share as well. Metalheads sometimes seem to be overly picky about their genres. I don't know how many times I've read through pointless bickering about whether Lamb of God was metalcore, thrash, heavy metal, NWOAHM, yada yada yada...
np: The Wanton Song - Led Zeppelin
I can't get over the fact that the riff on this song sounds exactly like the thing on Family Guy when Peter is Death on the plane and the Girl Scouts are singing "We like being alive, we lik being alive, we like being oh we like being oh we like being alive."

Why do you capitilize every word?

Metal has too many genres. Some could probably be grouped together and it wouldn't be hard to tell. Samw with rock; most math rock bands could fit under many other genres, like prog.

He may have been going for an all caps post but got pwned by the caps filter.

About math rock, would be you put Behold...The Arctopus in the same category as Yes? I don't think so.

most of the metalheads here idiots too. They will mindless argue a genre because they think a certain genre means those bands suck.

Well, that was just an example. Of course not every band will fit into both genres, but I've never heard of the one you mentioned. I'm sure you could think of at least one other genre they could fall into?

Well, sure you could call them tech. metal, but I'm not sure that's any different from math rock/metal. It's generally considered an offshoot of prog anyway though. What is usually described as math rock takes the unusual metres, complex rhythms and general strangeness of prog and gives it a nice big hit of the crack pipe.

That is basically my point. Why do you need both genres? Most bands could be called either. In this situation however, I guess that they are essentially diffrent names for the same genre, but do you see what I'm trying to say.

I knew it had something to do with complex time signatures etc. Most "Jazz" metal could probably also be called "Tech" metal

Yea, to an extent.

One metal thing I don't understand is the difference between doom and drone doom. The doom I've heard sucks anyway so, meh.

Does anyone have ELP - Trilogy, and if so would they be willing to upload it? I was going to try and buy it but I couldn't find it anywhere and don't feel like waiting for an Amazon order. I'm also addicted to ELP so I need more. NOW.

I have yet to hear about any Jazzy metal. Thats something kind of hard to fuse.

Apparently, it's known as Jazz metal becuse of demanding instrumental parts, complex time signatures, etc. I thought hat you said at first, but it incorporates other elements of Jazz.

Can you name a band? Metal is very influenced by classical guitar. I have hard time trying to think of how jazz guitar could be used in metal let alone horns and woodwinds.

There is no influence of Jazz sounds, but the complexity and time signatures used, the fabulous musicians involved etc. are why it gets that name. That's just what I'm told.

Its prog metal. strays from what other metal acts are doing. two specific genres names are combined that have elements of both genres.

That's why I was trying to say that there was no need for this genre. At all.

Atheist and Cynic != prog
Atheist and Cynic = Tech Metal

Great job on the Brainwashed review Robo. I really want to pick up that album, but the CD shop close by charges too much for it :(
