Dancin' Man 05-11-2005 09:02 PM

I want two kids, spaced 2 or 3 years apart. THat way they grow up together and don't get that annoying single child mentality. I also want them close enough in age that when they are young can entertain each other but when they are older don't find themselves in the same social circles.

Illmatic 05-11-2005 09:04 PM
When I have a kid, I'm going to wait a while before the second one. My little sister is one of the most adorable, well-behaved children I have ever come across and I strongly suspect it's because she has two very mature older siblings, i.e., me and my other 14-year-old sister.

Anybody ever seen the Bill Cosby bit on children ("brain-damaged people")? It's the funniest thing ever.
When I have a kid, I won't wait that long before having another (a few years, I guess). I mean, I don't want there to be too big an age gap, then I don't think the kids would get along with their siblings all that well.

EDIT: DM said what I wanted to say, basically

ATM 05-11-2005 09:07 PM

Wow, aren't you guys thinking a little too far ahead?

Dancin' Man 05-11-2005 09:09 PM

Not really. I mean, it's not like I'm naming them. I just have an idea of what I would like ideally. Plus imagine how terrible it would be to marry someone (not something I am thinking about yet) and they have completely different plans than you for these types of things and you never knew because you never thought about it.

Jom 05-11-2005 09:09 PM
Wow, aren't you guys thinking a little too far ahead?
I'm already operating under the assumption that I'm not getting married, so... :)

I'll edit this post with my final answer to Bartender re: his scheduling snafu thing (after screwing up an answer two or three times) :-\

EDIT: Try as I might, I still don't get it :(

1. Philosophy of Language (2)

2. Ancient Philosophy (Plato, Aristotle) (1)

3. Political Philosophy (1)

4. Theories & Observations in Science (2) (even though this class looks boring as hell)

5. Realism and Anti-Realism (1)

6. Media Ethics and Philosophy of Sport (2)

I know that you really want to take Sartre and Nietzsche, but this is the only 50/50 split that I can think of that would be interesting to you. Sorry :(

Illmatic 05-11-2005 09:09 PM
Wow, aren't you guys thinking a little too far ahead?
Doesn't hurt to give it a LITTLE thought.

EDIT: Again, DM pretty much said it.

Kingofdudes 05-11-2005 09:10 PM

My two newest CDs:

Bob Dylan - Highway 61 revisited
Bob Dylan - Desire

edit: wtf children?

magicbus 05-11-2005 09:35 PM

So I just got back from the talent show, and it went awesome. I wasn't nervous, and even though I missed a note or two, it still rocked, and everyone loved my guitar playing.

I also have videos of our songs :naughty:

Eitri Is Berserk 05-11-2005 09:38 PM

Out of curiosity, do any of your parents have huge cassette collections? I just went through my dads collection, picked out a few things.. I might post what, after I'm done documenting them.

Dancin' Man 05-11-2005 09:40 PM

My parents are older than that. They have huge record collections. Most of it is folk though.

Kingofdudes 05-11-2005 09:41 PM

My parents never did like music too much. Im a first generation music lover.

Eitri Is Berserk 05-11-2005 09:44 PM

My dad has about 30-40 records, and a box of tapes that weighed about.. 40 lbs when I picked it up. I only glanced through it, picked out probably.. 40 tapes. I'm writing 'em up on word.

magicbus 05-11-2005 09:44 PM

My dad has a ton of albums, and cds. And they're all good music. (mostly classic rock)

Illmatic 05-11-2005 09:45 PM

My mom and stepdad have huge CD and record collections, and there's a lot of different stuff there.

magicbus: Glad to see it went well. Upload the vids?

Dancin' Man 05-11-2005 09:47 PM

Well, the paper is done, my soulseek downloads are done, I have had less sleep this week than any in the last few months and I still need to do some dishes so I'm going to peace out now.

Christ. I just said peace out.

Dried Muffin Remnants 05-11-2005 09:47 PM

Speaking of our parents' music. After listening to my dad's Mark Knopfler stuff, I now cannot believe that he wasn't nominated to the Greatest Guitarists thing (at least I don't think so). "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straights had some classic riffing.

Endless Obsession 05-11-2005 09:48 PM

My dad had 600 records. Sold them for a large sum of money that i dont know, but we kept all the classics, Sgt Peppers, Aqualung, and a lot of others those are the only two i remember from now. My dad went to 43 dead shows, which isnt really a lot compared to some people but its still cool.

Also my mom was 45 when she had me and i have a bro that is 35 right now, and he said when he was in 8th grade my mom took him to a dead concert and toked with him at the concert. My mom sounds so cool.

The absolute worst smiley you could have used in that sentence.

/demerits

Post them anyway. Did you see my message to you, up about five posts or so? I swear it was going to happen, but I had to work.

Haha, I meant to do the ;) smiley.

Yea, it went really well, I'm uploading the videos now.

Also, you missed Datziack (?) singing Bon Jovi.

Illmatic 05-11-2005 09:52 PM

Hahaha, AH called out magicbus there.

R. Blythe: How old is your mom? o_O

Yeah, you win.

When I was born, my mom was 23 and my dad was 25, so my mom is 41 and my dad would be 43 now. Still pretty young.

It's all good, I was just kidding with you.

Dzciatczak always does something quirky at the senior/staff talent show.

I liked that show a bit more than the student/staff charity basketball game, but that's because Glynn always puts up 30+ points a game and runs like a motherfucker all over the court. It's so odd seeing him be so crazy athletic because he's such a badass yet quirky goofball in class, but man, that guy can play.

In case anyone cares, my parents are both 44.

Eitri Is Berserk 05-11-2005 09:56 PM

A lot of the stuff that my dad has is hair metal.. So its worthless to me. I think I took all of the stuff worth rescuing from sitting in a box forever. I found Black Sabbath, Rush, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Joe Satriani, Dream Theatre, Anthrax, Cream, Robert Plant, and AC/DC, to name a few.

Illmatic 05-11-2005 09:58 PM

AH: Bah, of course we care.

My stepdad has a lot of different kinds of music. My mom mostly likes stuff like Roxy Music, Brian Eno, Blur, The Clash, and so on.

O.o

Speaking of Glynn, we're supposed to play Johnson's class in softball tomorrow, but that might not work out. In any case, I'm already wearing my jersey/shirt.

Also, Cedar Point in a week d00d.

Illmatic 05-11-2005 10:00 PM

Are you kidding me? You guys have softball games between classes?

Also, what's Cedar Point? I demand to be in on your Michigan nonsense

Endless Obsession 05-11-2005 10:00 PM
R. Blythe: How old is your mom? o_O
She was born in 1942. She had me in 1988 when she was 45. She passed in 2000 when i was just 11.

My dad was born in 1949.

Another interesting thing is that my grandpa was born in 1899. He married my grandma who was born in 1924. It wasnt like a wierd relationship between two people so far in age, they were truly in love.

Eitri Is Berserk 05-11-2005 10:02 PM

Alright.. I'm off. Good night everyone.

Illmatic 05-11-2005 10:16 PM

Are you serious. Its the biggest amusment park in the world(# of rollercoasters). It was the 2 tallest roller coasters. The millenium force and the topthrill dragster. Its in Ohio about an hour and a half from cleveland, right inbetween here and Colombus.

Im surprised u havent heard of it.

And go Dallas!

Heh, we were supposed to play dodgeball versus Heffdaddy's class, but it never panned out because he had too many guys, and I was basically in a class full of girls (come on, it was AP English), and Johnson didn't want anything to do with it.

Cedar Point = easiest final ever. YOU GET TO WRITE YOUR OWN FINAL !

Seriously, best final ever... you're done in three hours, tops. I'll hop on AIM and give you some advice.
Are you kidding me? You guys have softball games between classes?

Also, what's Cedar Point? I demand to be in on your Michigan nonsense
Nah, not between classes... as classes. It's planned in advance.

Blythe explained Cedar Point, and I am very shocked you haven't heard of it.

For physics at the high school, the final takes place at Cedar Point and is cumulative. Physics II writes their own final, while Physics I has to take this bitch of a final that starts right when you get on the bus. Physics II final >>>>>>>> Physucks I final.

Illmatic 05-11-2005 10:35 PM

When I said between classes I meant class vs. class, like, "The game was played between Univeristy of Texas and the Sooners". I can't believe you guys get to do that, though.

And I don't know why I haven't heard of Cedar Point. I'm just not a big amusement park guy.

Also, Shawn Marion has the ugliest jump shot ever.

ATM 05-11-2005 10:46 PM

My parents are both 45.

And I am designing my own uptopia for my final assignment right now.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-11-2005 10:57 PM

Is it just me, or has R&M been slow lately?

lately=the last 2 days. :(

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-11-2005 11:18 PM

Since I'm not getting much input, read this, tell me what you think in the report/ask/suggest thread.

In case you're too lazy to look, I am wondering about what the next poll will be. Iai was going to do modern rock, but he sort of defected from R&M. I recall Schyma mentioning him wanting to do something again, and I've heard many people say that they just want a break. 307 said he doesn't mind what happens, and Bart seemed cool with whatever when I asked him about it earlier.

Illmatic 05-11-2005 11:20 PM

I would be down with a Modern Rock contest.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-11-2005 11:25 PM

I need to track down Iai to see what's going on with him. I'd want to do the modern rock poll( eff you, Madey) but he had dibs on it.

I'll just wait and see what happens.

ATM 05-11-2005 11:26 PM

Finish my project now, or wake up early and do it?
