Lucky kid. :-/
But yeah, if that incident hadn't of happened, we might never have been given The Wall.
If we didn't have the wall we may of still had pink floyd =) but..I'm glad we have the wall. |

but..I'm glad we have the wall.
Never thought of that.... but if roger didn't leave we woulda never got tdb, but think of the possibilities if the wall never happened.... I'm gonna ponder whether the spitting was a good thing or not. |

lol, yeah i always think about stuff like that.. But the bottom line is post-rogers floyd was great to some, and we can sit here and wonder what it would of been like if they'd stayed..but we'll never really know..so lets just be happy with what we have. Theres one thing we can all agree on. Pink Floyd are Amazing. |
Anyone hear any thing off of the Madcap Laughs or Barrett? I heard one really cool song on "The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story." It's called Dominoes and I'd recomend that everyone that likes PATGOD to listen to that song or both albums.

I love the madcap laughs..it took a while to grow on me, but its a fav now.. PATGOD is great as well. Dominoes is off of the album "Barrett" which I haven't heard too much of. Gotta love the track the effervesing elephant though! |
Madcap Laughs is such a great album. My favourite PF solo album, after Wet Dream by Rick Wright.

floyd
what do think of Bike from a nice Pair?
|
I love that song! I actually love that whole album.

I'm not really familiar with those, I'm guessing they're Syd Barret's solo albums. |
Actually yeah, the piano chord for Us and Them was originally supposed to be the music for a scene in Zabriskie Point, but the director said it didn't fit the mood of the scene or something. So Floyd took it, added some other instruments, lyrics, and it became the song we know today :p
wasnt it the great gig in the sky?
Its funny, a lot of stuff that guy didnt like they used on DSotM, and we all know how well that sold.
 123 |

I was actully listining to "Octopus" bwfore I read that post. :) Madcap Laughs is great. I don't know what it is about that album but it just seems as though it's incomplete alot of mess-ups and off key singing yet it still holds an undifined magic that I haven't yet to understand. I suprisingly haven't heard Barrett all the way through because I have yet to download it. There's only a few songs I haven't heard though and although the lyrics are great to be honest the album's music is sub par. Probablly because Gilmour and Waters made all the music and attempted to create what Syd was trying to make but unfortuntly they failed. I do respect them for trying though. NP: Milky Way - Pink Floyd (Syd Barrett) |
I love Dominoes. Gilmour does a pretty good version of it on the acoustic DVD.
|
I really wish I had more to add than I do everyday... I honestly dont have anything to add. Everyone else seems to have a good rumor or something, I have nothing. So, once again, this post is just to up my postcount and to keep a standing in this thread.
So... Fearless rulz!!1 Discuss. |
Fearless > One of These Days.
Fearless > One of These Days.
Discuss.
Once of These Days > Fearless Can't beat that bassline. Definitely Waters best. And that slide solo is just awesome. And Mason's "singing" is cool. The chanting in Fearless is cool though. |
One of These Days does it for me. The thundering delayed intro, the awesome slide solos by Gilmour, the crazy section in the middle where it sounds like a submarine about to implode, and the end trailing off into the winds of A Pillow of Winds.
This song shocked me the first time I heard it on my vinyl copy of Meddle, and it still remains my favorite song on the album... after Echoes :p |
Am I the only one who gets a little creeped out while listening to Echoes? Especially the scary part in the middle with the weird shrill sounds and the very end, where it sounds like this ghostly choir singing in an elevator or sometinhg
|
I can see why it'd be creepy, but I think of chipmunks and stuff making those noises. This is probably because I heard "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict" first, and the same noises appear on that song.
|
I love that part of Echoes. I think the whole song is amazing, personally. I dont think it's creepy. Well, maybe a little. But not much.
|
Ah come on, you know you couldn't last more than a minute listening to it in a pitch black room
|
Well, I used to listen to it every night when I went to sleep, so I can. But, it is a bit creepy when that part comes on.
|
Ah come on, you know you couldn't last more than a minute listening to it in a pitch black room
The only time I don't listen to Echoes in a pitch black room is when I'm playing along with it on guitar (and sometimes I'll do that in the dark too). :p |

ah you are all a bunch of liars :D |
I can vaguely see the creepiness in echoes but I think PF has some creepier work..
The Trial, Careful With That Axe Eugene, Another Brick in the Wall Pt.3, The Fletcher Memorial Home.. |
The Trial isn't really creepy, more chaotic. But some parts of Echoes are definitely creepy, however, it is holds a distinction as one of Floyd's heaviest works.

When you hear the little kid british voices singing "Crazy toys in the attic he is crazy" You don't find that creepy in event he slightest bit? |
When you hear the little kid british voices singing "Crazy toys in the attic he is crazy"
You don't find that creepy in event he slightest bit?
The little British kid making creepy comments in an adult tone is the most over-used cliche in horror movies, ever. I have ceased being frightened by it. :p And besides, the Trial is my favourite song from The Wall. |

And besides, the Trial is my favourite song from The Wall.
It's most def. One of my fav songs as well.. It stuck out for me the most during the movie..and was actually amongst the first songs i've heard off the wall. Comfortably Numb>The Trial>Hey You |

Comfortably Numb>The Trial>Hey You
I love Nobody Home From the wall, The Lyrics are great. Hey You is good as well |
I really love the The Wall as a whole. Every song, IMO is great, But Disk/Part 2 is less impressive as Disk/Part 1. The part before the wall is 'built' is the good part. I love Empty Spaces.
The Trial is such an amazing song. It is musically so perfect.I love it. |

Comfortably Numb>The Trial>Hey You
Meh, for me I'd say: Comfortably Numb>Hey You>Nobody Home>The Trial |
Nobody Home is amazing. The orchestrated version is unbelievable.
|
I don't get why everyone is so creeped out by The Trial. It's actually pretty funny, not scary or creepy at all to me. I think stuff like Don't Leave me Now is a lot creepier, listen to the lyrics
"When you know how I need you (need you) To beat to a pulp on a Saturday night oh, baby" Creepy. Plus Water's desperate/crazy sounding singing... just frightening, like a psychopath. |
The Trial always makes me think of Kefka in Final Fantasy VI. It's so overblown and operatic, it is mildly comical.
|
The Trial always makes me think of some guy in a robe and powdered wig yelling at everyone.
|
I liked the trial in the movie a whole lot more.
POST 400!!! about pink floyd! yay |
Hell of a creepy song is Is there anybody out there?
|
I think that is their creepiest song.
|
I love that song. One of my favourites off the Wall.
|
Nah, Another One Of My Turns is probably my creepiest off of The Wall.
