Next Acapellica song....

Firestorm?
YES!

young, loud and andrew 01-24-2005 11:08 AM

Thanks to Shane, I've decided to come back. I missed you all terribly.

I've been enjoying the following recently:
Have Heart
Bury Your Dead
Iron and Wine
Copeland
Set Your Goals
The Arcade Fire
The Killers
Death From Above 1979
Sinking Ships
Anterrabae
the new Comeback Kid album
etc.

BridgeToSolace 01-24-2005 11:10 AM

Anterrabae is awesome.

young, loud and andrew 01-24-2005 11:12 AM

Yes, they are. They took a while to grow on me, but after seeing them live twice (they are semi-local... Long Island is close enough to Manhattan) I started getting into them.

I'm adding Verse to my list as well. Shane-- I can send you the full length now.

NewKindofArmy03 01-24-2005 11:17 AM

I still never listened to Verse, i've been meaning to for a while now.

I'm probably gonna go buy the new Forward to Death cd. If I send the receipt in to Perfect Victim records, I get a free cd of my choice and entered in a contest to win an iPod Shuffle.

young, loud and andrew 01-24-2005 11:23 AM

cbmartinez 01-24-2005 11:39 AM

Copeland, ewwwww.
Anterrabae is awesome.
They're playing a local venue around here with Twelve Tribes or something.

Andross 01-24-2005 12:29 PM

what would KsE fall under?

cbmartinez 01-24-2005 12:32 PM

Metal, maybe metalcore.

I don't really dig any of those bands.

Death From Above 1979 are really ****ty.
I hate those guys.. their singer is a real *******. A friend of mine did two shows for them and he complained about EVERYTHING. 50+ kids came to see them and he was all like '**** you, noone came out, bla bla bla' and started breaking stuff.
Said friend was done with booking shows after that.
This was when they were still called DFA.

young, loud and andrew 01-24-2005 01:35 PM

That's nice. I haven't had personal interaction with them so I really don't care. They still kick ***.

BuddyBigsby 01-24-2005 01:37 PM

That's just one of torn's crucial 'I KNOW THAT GUY' posts.
That's nice. I haven't had personal interaction with them so I really don't care. They still kick ***.
No, they're ****ing assholes.

They changed their name to DFA 1979 because the label wanted them to.

young, loud and andrew 01-24-2005 02:16 PM

Dude... I don't ****ing care. They make good music.

tornpictures 01-24-2005 02:23 PM

"TF! HAVE HEART "what counts""

Having heart is what counts.

Obviously DFA don't share my opinion.

Myspace has been a bitch with me the past month, the player never loads.

Let's Chop Cats! 01-24-2005 02:31 PM
What are the other MP3s that you have from?
I have the rfest of the EP, they're demo and 1 unreleased song back when they were a pop-punk band. Their demo sounds nothing like the EP except they still play 1 song from it.
Next Acapellica song....

Firestorm?
Do this or I will get you banned.

Punkerx you live in NYC or by it right? Going to Bane in march?
No, they're ****ing assholes.

They added the '1979' because there was going to be a law suit with a company in Toronto.

I live in Manhattan, and yes, I will most surely be at that show. I found a loop hole so I can come home from school for that night.

I thought you got over this whole elitist thing. They are a good band... I don't care if you're best friend's brother's cousin had one bad experience with them. That's a stupid way to judge a band.

Let's Chop Cats! 01-24-2005 02:50 PM

Awesome, I'll see you there. Do you know if Cb's is selling tickets are not? I heard both they were and weren't.

luck7sy 01-24-2005 02:58 PM

If you look in the first pages (not sure which) but some thing was said about throwdown. I believe that they are actually hXc but only because of there additude of there playing. There are a lot of other great bands that come out of Trust Kill Records like:Bleeding through, Poison the Well, and Open hand.

This is my first threat and I use this site a lot just I signed up because some moron said blink 182 was punk

What's that got to do with elitism?

A band having heart and being sincere is seriously important to me.
Enthusiasm does alot for me.
Awesome, I'll see you there. Do you know if Cb's is selling tickets are not? I heard both they were and weren't.
Sweet... there's a kid from NJ on the Thrice boards who is also coming.

I have no idea what the ticket situation is-- I know the family that owns CB's so I don't need to buy tickets... that or radiotakeover will hook me up.

I think there's a link for tickets in general on CB's website... see if they are there.

I read on the With Honor boards that they covered "Start Today" at a few recent shows. I would love to see them play it in NYC.

toolfan462 01-24-2005 03:03 PM

Before I get started with this, I have a few statements to make. Yes, I am new at this forum and no I did not read all of this thread, so someone may have posted this already. Why does anyone care about these subcategories? Are you not going to listen to something just because it's hardcore and your a metalcore fan? I am seriously not trying to offend anybody here. I would really like to know. To me, each of these bands belongs in a category I like to call music. If you like it, cool. If not, oh well. I have never been into subdividing these groups into these technical categories. I still see it as all being rock, whether it is metal, nu-metal, hardcore, or post-harcore-grinding-metal-surfer-jazz-fusion-c*ck-rockin-country.

BuddyBigsby 01-24-2005 03:09 PM

Yeah, listen to some of those bands and you'll actually understand why you can't just call it all 'music'.

toolfan462 01-24-2005 03:14 PM

Actually, you could call it all music. Music is personal preference. While I do not consider rap music, many people (and God bless those challenged souls j/k) consider that to be music. I listen to everything from KsE to The Used to Lamb of God to Nailbomb to Tool to Steve Vai to Chemical Brothers to DJ Tiesto to Mozart to Eric Clapton (I think you get it). Im just wondering why so many people think that grouping one of their favorite bands into the "wrong" category offends them so much. And by the way, thanks for not throwing a sh*t fit about my post.

BuddyBigsby 01-24-2005 03:20 PM

If you're referring to us getting pissy in this thread, it's because hardcore is more than just a genre of music. It's a subculture with it's own set of ethics and beliefs, and something a lot of kids hold dear to their hearts. So when someone calls a very obviously un-hardcore band like Killswitch Engage hardcore, yeah, they get offended. It's not that there's anything wrong with that band, but they simply are not hardcore.

The other problem is that the difference between hardcore and 'metalcore' is really so vast that calling say Lamb of God or Atreyu hardcore (which I've seen many times on this board) is nearly the equivalent of calling Dream Theater punk rock.

toolfan462 01-24-2005 03:26 PM

I can see your point. I believe that music is the number one way of life for me right now. But Im not going to get mad at someone because they said Hatebreed was hardcore when they are actually metalcore, or vice versa. I guess Im too simple of a person. I just believe that if you put restraints on yourself such as categories, then you will not be able to grow as a musician or a music lover. And again, thanks for all of the feedback.

P.S. What would you consider Lamb Of God and Killswitch Engage?

Let's Chop Cats! 01-24-2005 04:30 PM

American Metal I guess of LoG, I don't listen to them a lot, nor know a lot about them.

Killswitch is Metalcore though.
Copeland, ewwwww.
Are you crazy?

young, loud and andrew 01-24-2005 05:13 PM

word. Copeland is sick.

Just because you like hardcore doesn't mean that you can't like any other genres. I love pop punk and cheesey metalcore, among other hated genres.

Since myspace's player never works for me anymore, i'm relying on you all to tell me if the new song is any good. Now go listen!

A-Life-Less-Plagued 01-24-2005 06:09 PM

It's pretty good. I haven't listened to them in a while. This song seems to be an improvement on the stuff on CVA.

Let's Chop Cats! 01-24-2005 09:40 PM

I thought it was ok. Didn't like it more than CVA, but I only know like 2 songs off of CVA. The song was good when there wasn't a lot of just mroe like noise to it.
