Skolnick's a chump... never liked him or the Testament albums he played on.

sensitiveorgan00 02-21-2005 06:58 PM

Skolnick needs to grow his hair out now.

TESTAMENT REUNION IN EUROPE.

Yeah, Superpeer told me awhile ago. I'd love to go to that show.

Dargon: Og is back. I'm getting the Bywar album from him now.

ForiegnPenguin 02-21-2005 09:31 PM

I bought Set the world on Fire/In command despite metal-militia's warning because it was very cheap. I liked In Command, but Set the World on Fire sucks horribly.

Set The World on Fire is pretty cool for a bit, but then I got bored with it, and well, I just uploaded In Command and Best of Annihilator to my IPod Mini.

CaptainWaits 02-21-2005 10:16 PM

I got "Feel the Fire" by Overkill in the mail today (promoted me to change my avatar). Already one of my favorite 'Kill albums. Now I just need "Taking Over" and "I hear Black" and I have them all :)

Since you mention Overkill...

NP: The Years Of Deacy ;)

Arise II 02-22-2005 06:42 AM
I also like Testament, they're not the best thrash band, but their first three albums are pretty good. Songs like Into the Pit and Disciples of the Watch, and Skolnick has some great leads like in Practice What You Preach. Actually, I prefer Testament to Exodus. Exodus just don't do it for me.

I'll take Kreator over either anyday though.
Feel the Fire is the only Overkill album I ever listen to.

Weird, because that is the Overkill album I listen to most as well, although my favorite is Years of Decay.

Griffin_Page 02-22-2005 11:35 AM

Why listen to Overkill when you can listen to Anthrax, Megadeth, Kreator, Death Angel, Dark Angel, Exodus, Testament, Destruction, Sodom, Coroner, Sepultura, etc.?

HappyMarshmellow 02-22-2005 11:40 AM

You thrashards ever heard of Cardinal Sin?

They're a local group here in Puerto Rico. They played at a metal fest the other night and I couldn't go 'cause it was in the mountains in the middle of the island somewhere.

I bought "Resurrection", a compilation of their demos and material and stuff, and it's great!

I wish I could have seen them. It's good agressive thrash with tons of changes. Great stuff!

Apparently they're legends... they've played with Morbid Angel and the likes back in the day!

Just a reminder to anyone who hasn't, Download the following albums:

Heathen - Breaking the Silence (http://www.heathenmetal.com)
Anacrusis - Suffering Hour (http://apogee.whack.org/~ken/)

They win :)

Anyone listen to Slaughter Lord?

Everyone also download Wehrmacht - Napalm Shower if you can find it. It's a really cool song.

I got Revenant - Faithless (EP) today. It's different from PoaDW, but it's still recognizably Revenant :thumb:

I've heard one song, "Hell Turns To Ice", and loved what I heard. I can't seem to find anything by them though.

Umm, maybe because Overkill owns. Testament doesn't deserve to be on that list by the way.

Personal Opinion, just like mine :P

I ****ing hate Overkill. The vocals are so bad that I just can't listen to them. Give me dark, angry thrash anyday. Blitz just reminds me of that idiot elementary bully who thinks hes cooler than everyone, his singing just bugs me.

Yeah, I guess that's just what it boils down to, personal opinion. I try not to let vocals ruin a band for me though. I think if the music is there, but the vocals suck, then the band is still a keeper. There are of course exceptions, like when vocals are mixed WAAAY too high for their own good.

You should really try to focus on 'Kill's music, as it is some of the best thrash metal has ever seen. Just concentrate on ze riffage.

I used to think that too... until I heard The Years of Decay.

Get it man. It rips and rages all the way through, easily some of the most pissed-off thrash ever, and Skullcrusher is a very dark song. :thumb:

ForiegnPenguin 02-22-2005 04:24 PM

Got Coma of Souls

I took a while for Years of Decay to grow on me, but now I can't go a week without listening to it, it's a nice change from mostly listening to extreme thrash IMO.

NP: Kreator - Riot of Violence \m/

ForiegnPenguin 02-22-2005 05:53 PM

Its seems I must buy YOD next.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-22-2005 09:17 PM

The Years of Decays is a pretty **** good album, but i still prefer many onther bands to Overkill.

NP: Tired And Red - Sodom

How would you guys rate Coma of Souls with Kreator's other stuff?

And I picked up Darkness Descends today, so I'll get to hear the full album and all its thrashy goodness.

I personally prefer Pleasure to Kill and Extreme Aggression to Coma of Souls, but it's still an awesome album, People of the Lie and Terrorzone are probably my favourite tracks from there. In any case, if you don't have it, you should get it, you won't be dissapointed, I promise ;)

EDIT: Enjoy Darkness Descends, that album just has so much energy, it's unrelenting :thumb:

RCA 02-23-2005 07:05 AM

Guess what I got yesterday?

ULYSSES SIREN BOOTLEG! All 7 of their released songs too.

What about In The Sign of Evil + Obsessed by Cruelty
How would you guys rate Coma of Souls with Kreator's other stuff?
More technical, less fierce and brutal. Enjoy DD.
EDIT: Oh, ratings, ehm... CoS = 8/10, PtK = 666/10 :)

Actually, I saw the tracks wrong. They play 6 of their songs, and then there's a cover of Exodus' "And Then There Were None". Still VERY kick ass.

NP: Sabbat - Hosanna In Excelsis

I had another massive battle with Eleventeen, it's classic. Check the last 2 pages of the Korn thread and the last like 3 pages of hte community thread.
Crap, you is teh offline. :upset:

NP: Xentrix - Balance of Power

SLATANIC-666 02-23-2005 05:59 PM

Have you been fighting again Dargon? :p

I managed to get Doomsday for the Deceiver - F&J and Leave Scars - Dark Angel off ebay for reasonbly cheap, I can't wait 'til they arrive. I also plan to get the Exodus albums, Pleasures of the Flesh and Fabulous Disaster off there for also quite cheap. Are these albums worth getting?

NP: Testament - The New Order

EDIT: I just read some of that closed Korn thread Dargon, very funny stuff man, roflmao :thumb:

1. Make your post readable. Many users on this forum will flame you to hell for having bad typing and grammar skills

2. Strapping Young Lad isn't thrash. Not even close.

3. No subgenres to thrash, unless you count death/thrash.

ForiegnPenguin 02-23-2005 07:50 PM

Np:Testament-Burnt Offerings

Isn't melodic thrash a subgenre, or did I just make that up?

Nightrider32X 02-23-2005 07:55 PM

My two favorite thrash albums are Slayer- Reign in Blood (freakin classic) and of course Motorhead- Ace of Spades. Anybody else big on Motorhead?
