I met the singer of HIPV when they played here time before last, he seemed cool and I promised them I'd see them again. I did.

I was drinking Kronenbourg and it's ages since I spoke to you Ste! I'm playing iSketch with my PunkerMentality homies, Alex PunkerMentality might be organising a gig on my birthday where we have sack races and egg and spoon races, and 3-legged races before the gig, then after we have a lock-in and a pub quiz  Should be well cool, at Camden Underworld in London, everyone come and buy me a pint! Middle of August

tsl_ste 05-14-2005 05:10 PM

ooo, i'd love to come.
come to birmingham (sp) and see my band support Jesse James!
i have no idea who Jesse James are, what do they sound like?

Nightvision 05-14-2005 05:15 PM

Ska band - pretty good, have a very good horns section, but the lead singer is a bit of a gimp. They've had a few music videos on Kerrang! and the like.

*edit - song to check out by them - Shoes*

- it's the only one I can remember.

the-UK-ska-scene 05-14-2005 05:16 PM

Jesse James is punk/soul with horns!! (They're not ska, don't believe anyone who says that!) I haven't seen them for about 2.5 years, but I think my mate Hoey is putting them on here in July. What's your band Ste? What sorta music? You got a site?

EDIT: Ok, Jason already said they were a ska band, THEY ARE NOT.

tsl_ste 05-14-2005 05:21 PM

no.. well, i only just joined them "unoffically", so they are getting rid of the guy i'm replacing before wednesday, then i go practice on wednesday.

i'm nervous, because i think they want me to do lead, but i'm not to good with lead... but whatever, i can get through by doinf "rythem lead" if yanno what i'm saying...

thats them.

Nightvision 05-14-2005 05:25 PM

you mean octaves, etc?

the-UK-ska-scene 05-14-2005 05:27 PM

Wow, they have a neat practice space, and that kid has some pretty swish drum shells! When are you playing avec JJ? My mates band is playing with them at this local thing http://www.myspace.com/mexicola they're fucking swish :D (well one of their songs is, not up there lol)

tsl_ste 05-14-2005 05:28 PM

yeah.
i couldn't think of the word.

i can do the odd bit of lead and stuff, but i'm no solo artist, i have been training myself to do rythem i guess. but joes a good friend of mine and works with my girlfriend, so i guess i could giveit a go.

plus, i had that feeling of excitment this week at finch and Drive thru, yanno "omg, i can't wait to get back on stage, it's been far to long"

tsl_ste 05-14-2005 05:30 PM

his names robbo. my girlfriend knows him, and he only ever knows me if he's stoned.

Nightvision 05-14-2005 05:34 PM

I love being on stage - it's the biggest buzz ever.

My biggest worry is my voice when I go on stage - it tends to come and go - on a good night, I can hit some pretty sick notes (along the lines of: "and all IIIIIIIIIIIII need to know..." Adam from TBS hits in "you're so last summer") but on a bad night I really struggle to hit anything worth sounding. :(

Also, our band just lost our bassist, and they want me to go from Rhythm/vox and occasional lead to Bass/vox, but I've never really played Bass much before, and I dunno whether to do it or not. The guy who would replace me on guitar is a good guy and good on the axe, so I wouldn't mind him joining, but I'm worried about the change, if you get me...

tsl_ste 05-14-2005 05:37 PM

so why not do bass until you find a suitable player, and then you just focus on the vox?

I Am The Avalanch were great last night btw. Vinnie plays guitar on some songs, so there where 3 guitars soin differen't things. good show.

Nightvision 05-14-2005 05:41 PM

I'm sort of backing/joint lead vocals, so I really need an instrument in my hand for when I'm not in a song so much.

Meh, I guess I'm just going to go on Bass, I reckon. It'll give me an easier job, anyway - no-one will notice so much if I screw up. :)

tsl_ste 05-14-2005 05:45 PM

thats a good point.

man, it feels weird being on MX...

Nightvision 05-14-2005 05:51 PM
