Roger Waters' opera, Ca Ira, was completed and submitted to Sony Music just a few months ago. It's due to be released on September the 27th.
Also, does anyone have a link to an interview concerning Pink Floyd's reaction to Live 8? |
Everyone says "Echoes" is a bad album, but I think it's nice to have in the car for those short trips. It's so hard to get into an album like The Wall, just to have to stop before it's over!
First off, it's not an album, it's a compilation. (Besides the point, but I had to point it out) Second, I do realize that everyone says it's good to listen to Pink Floyd by the album, as individual songs sort of break the atmosphere or whatever, but Echoes is an awesome way for a new Pink Floyd listener to get into the band and figure out what era of Floyd they like the best. Even for me, somewhat of a PF veteran, I like to listen to it occaisionally, because I don't have all of their albums, but it's good to hear whats on them. |
The last song was Us & them. I didnt notice that gilmour doesnt play it on the bootleg I got, but I do know there was a lot of booing during the song.
Yea well i'd be pretty mad if Gilmour didnt come out for a song either  But I think I'd be more mad at the obnoxious fans. |
The Wall on broadway? i'd go see that :)
|
No no no, Roger Waters DEFINATLY felt bad about spitting in the fan's face, go watch the interviews. He said it himself.
I stand corrected. Where are the interviews? Roger Waters is indeed bringing The Wall to broadway, which I am very excited about. He's also adding a couple new tracks to it, and says it will be a good deal more lighthearted and enjoyable to the average fan than the movie was. |
who here likes what korn did with brick in the wall?

I can't remember if it's the VH1 "Syd Barret Story" ill try to find out oh and when Pink Floyd was inducted, they have a big The Wall poster I believe in the Rock hall of Fame Roger Waters wrote something about Montreal's Olympic Stadium in 1977 leading to The Wall something like that. |

I like it, it's pretty good. They put all 3 parts together. I believe my album sales theory was a bit off. I read somewhere that Pink Floyd sells about 8000 copies of Dark Side of the Moon per week in the US alone (before Live 8). Let's say 1000 Copies of DSOTM per day. In USA. and 3000 albums alltogether per day, in USA. Now.. in the world. Let's give them 10 countries where they accomplish the same. I think they would sell more in London, and are a HUGE hit in Canada. Let's say they sell 50 000 albums a day worldwide. And we'll use the average 30$ per album again. 50 000 x 30 = 1 500 000. One Million Five Hundred Thousand dollars... per day. ok I think im going to go run naked outside.. this is INSANE. Ok so we said a 10 000% increase after live 8 right? 50 000 + 10 000% = 5 050 000 albums a day worldwide. This is really insane. Now multiply by 30$... 151 500 000$ per day. ... i dont know what to say. am i doing something wrong? |
Yes you are
They do not make full profit off of their albums Their recording company will always make MOST of the profit. A good figure would be to use is that their record company makes $20 dollars off of every album. which means they would make $10. |
Yea I know, but I meant Pink Floyd as in the money that is made in sales in total. including the record company
besides any profit Floyd makes is going to charity. Record companies are stupid I think pink floyd should make a new album and produce it themselves. |
Well, I don't think they sell a total of 50k albums worldwide. And I definitely don't think 30 dollars per album is a fair price. I get most albums for about half of that. Plus, if someone buys the album used, then no money will go to Pink Floyd or the record company, because they already got the profit from that sale.

I've heard some of it. it was... intresting. It wasn't fantastic, really. |
pink floyd probably make about 10 pence each from each album sale. Nick and Rick probably make nothing from slaes of the wall, but in essence, they make barely anything from them.
Pink floyd UK sales were up 1000% after live 8. And they're donating it all. |
Guys, I went shopping today at a preppy store called Kohls. You are not going to believe this but I went in there to get shoes and came out with a pink floyd shirt and an acdc shirt. Those were the only rock band shirts in the store. They were right next to golf shorts no joke. I could not believe it at all. And they were $42 a piece.
|
I don't believe that. Kohls isn't preppy, and I don't think the shirts were 42 bucks each.
I'm also willing to bet that every kid in your school will have those same shirts. |

Kohls is a preppy store in my city(Madison) it is a very upscale town like Huntsvillle but cheaper. And I dont go to school I graduated 11 years ago. |

|

That's the standard clothing store were everybody gets there clothes from. And it's also why you see people at school with DSOTM t-shirts, and you ask them what there favorite album is, and you just get a blank stare. I have a feeling that most of them think it's probably a new clothing company. I did buy some DSOTM flip flops though for the hell of it, cuz they were only 3 bucks. |
I've never heard of Kohls. What is it?
|
I've never heard of Kohls. What is it?
Its a store like goody's and factory connection and whatnot but better. |
42 bucks for one shirt? I got my DSotM shirt for 14 or something at Sears. Not where I was expecting to find a Pink Floyd shirt. I also have an awesome WYWH shirt that Kingofdudes also has. He whored it, so some of you may have seen it.
