I'm pretty sure that's Paz.

Unless you're talking about Maynard--he's in the backon the right
Oh, he looked like Twiggy in that picture. Okay, all's clear now.

Moses 04-13-2005 08:30 PM
Tool doesn't make sense? I can make sense of every Tool song, and make sense of it in atleast 2 ways for each song.

But yeah, Tool kicks ***.
What are your two ways for Hush? Just wondering.
Censor ship is gay, why don't you go fuck yourself?
Theres one way of interpreting it. I'm looking for one more.

Kage 04-13-2005 08:37 PM

Lack of a sense of humor.

Moses 04-13-2005 08:53 PM
Lack of a sense of humor.
No I got the joke. I was just wondering what a second interperation was.

Also if I have a lack of sense of humor, it's probably because I had West Side Story practice from 8:30 A.M. till 7:00 P.M. today.

Kage 04-13-2005 09:07 PM

No, no, I meant that's what Maynard is talking about.

Moses 04-13-2005 09:09 PM

Ok, I buy that.

It is.

The other guy is Troy Van Leeuwen, or however his last name is spelled.

butch_man 04-13-2005 09:13 PM

It was my math teacher. Something I would never expect. And the band is great.

Hey. That ones mine.
tool rocks, but i dont really like apc. i dunno why, but there's something about them that doesnt clash with me. i like few songs, but not near as much as i like the tool songs!
Same here. Something about APC just doesn't grab me. I do love Orestes, Judith and Pet, but their other songs just don't excite me.

I like The Package a bit, but it tries too much to be a Tool song.

Some songs are really cheesy. 3 Libras is just as bad as all of those "Emo" bands.

Moving on...

After listening to a few more Fantomas songs, I am glad for their influence on Tool, because they're more Undertow-ish. Yet I can't see Maynard singing like Patton any day now.
This is pretty lame but my math teacher introduced me to TOOL. They are really that great.
Maths should be a breeze for you then. I can picture entire projects on working out a formula to calculate Danny's drum patterns for every note Adam and Justin plays, making sure to compensate for variables such as mistakes or solo parts.

-shrugs- My english teacher got me into Tool.

...

Then he moved to New Zealand :\

clearvision 04-14-2005 09:56 AM

My english teacher was a big tool fan too, then he moved to new zealand... Maybe he is just like a messenger for tool  lol

Adam Jones is GOD 04-14-2005 11:18 AM

Deftones got me into Tool. Linkin Park got me into Deftones. Papa Roach got me into Linkin Park. Then i forget what got me into what.

I think i've had a rough ride to get where I am

bassist-bmxer 04-14-2005 11:24 AM

These forums actually got me into Tool, I was in the bass forum and someone said something about the bassline for 'schism' so I downloaded it. I was like "....wow....".

The Flabbit Rides High 04-14-2005 11:52 AM

yeah, this forum also got me into Tool. Tool got 2nd and 3rd position on the Top Rock and Metal Albums, so i checked them out. In fact, i bought Lateralus without any proir knowledge whatsoever. Imagine my suprise........

clearvision 04-14-2005 12:07 PM

I was brought into tool by APC, after being reccomended by a friend. I had heard sober and Aenima before getting the whole Aenima album, my friend did a talk on aenima's lyrics in english (he got an A* lolrzzz).

But AJIG rough ride?

Papa roach - still loves infest :)
Linkin park - Hybrid theory will always be a good album, they may have gone downhill after but meh.
Deftones - White pony is an amazing album, Around the fur is also cool, i should check out more i suppose.

Not exactly a rough ride me feels.

my atstes are demented though :( mY listenings at the momet

Bjork - Post and Homogenic
Interpol - Antics
Oceansize - Efloresce
Skold - Skold EP

The JoZ 04-14-2005 12:08 PM

Actually, my grandparents sort of got me into Tool.

I'd heard "Schism" on the radio over the summer, while doing volunteer work at the university I now attend...and I was blown away.

So I mentioned that I wouldn't mind getting this album by Tool. And at Christmas, my grandparents got my Lateralus. My grandmother said the name was easy to remember, and she heard I wanted it, so there we go.

This was Christmas 2001

I was referring more to the big black void of no music in my life before then.

And JoZ, you should try the album trick with your grandma mor eoften. Try and get some really obscure black metal album this year.

And Deftones still own to this day. Though LP i've lost the will to lsiten to, and Papa Roach become boring.

Ive got Homogenic! Its amazing I think.

Ive heard a bit of Interpol, they sound decent.

Which brings me to Oceansize. Ive heard Cataclism i think its called, and its great! Can anyone tell me what Efloresce sounds like thru? Ive been meeaning to pick it up, but hesistated at the last minute.

Adam Jones is GOD 04-14-2005 12:17 PM

OT: clearvision, is Antics any good? i've heard the 3 released tracks, and only Evil has stood out to me as an interesting track. The other two sound too similar.

PDA was a cool track though

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-14-2005 12:57 PM

I may have told this one before, but I first heard Sober in '99 when MTV used to play some good music videos and was blown away. SO I looked it up, found out that it was on the album Undertow, bought it, and I've been hooked ever since. I got Ænima about a week later, and I got Lateralus a day or two after it came out. I was hooked to Ænima from the start but Lateralus took some getting used to.

fallen angel2121 04-14-2005 01:04 PM

Sorry to butt in, but any ETA on the new album at all? I would search through the 220 (!) pages but I have school tomorrow.....

Fallen Angel
Nah, man. Nothing yet. Believe me, if there's a new CD comin out then you'll notice it right away, people'll be going crazy and the album itself would likely get its own thread.

People have heard June at the earliest though. Hope that helps. :thumb:

The Interpol album is great I have it and its great

c'mere is brilliant and narc is another good song?

(I thought there was only 2 singles from antics?)

clearvision 04-14-2005 02:08 PM

Yeah i think if you like C'mere you'll like the whole album. It is all pretty similair...

Oceansize are actually great, incubus-floyd-radiohead is how i would describe them. Their site is http://www.sizeofanocean.com . The song you heard was catalyst, not one of my fav's but still a cool track. Please do check out the album, it is great.

clearvision 04-14-2005 02:27 PM

This is C'mere http://s28.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0RC9D9X9JCL1539L8CSVCXOT1X

If you liek this you'll probs enjoy the album.

I'll upload one of my favourite oceansize songs...
