yessir. bleak is brilliantly composed.
Steve Wilson sang some of his best singing of his career on that song. |
i got tickets. im in houston so i hope this hurricane rita doesn't **** it up for me for the show on oct. 21 i would go looting just for spite.
Amen to that. I don't think it will be too bad, at least not in the area that the concerts will be held in. |
I agree man, that song is just too good. The acoustic melodies, the dual guitar rhythms, vocals, absolutely brilliant.
You just described about every Opeth song there. I appreciate that song a bit but I don't think it was very well composed because it just sounds like alot of things strung together. |
Steve Wilson sang some of his best singing of his career on that song.
And that's saying something. |
Word, I like how when Mikael sings, Steven backs him, and then vice versa.
|
Does anyone know how often Opeth played Bleak? It seems like such a great live track, and the live version I have is amazing.
|
Why would they waste time playing that live...?
JK :p I'd love to see that live, as long as the vocals were a bit tuned up.. |
The songs that I really hope they play when I see them are Reverie/HF and Deliverance.

I love to hear Harlequin Forest live, I'd also love To Bid You Farewell, Master's Apprentices, The Drapery Falls, and Serenity Painted Death. |

They normally open Deliverance. |
Good song to open with ;)
I heard that Demon of the Fall is usually an encore. |
I'm a ****in' slacker...I helped get this thread going like a year ago and now I haven't even bought the new album yet! God I suck!
Is it as good as what I'm hearin'? Can it reach the heights of Blackwater Park? |
That depends entirely on your taste in music, man. I think it's a great album, though. Where have you been, btw?

haha, read the Tool thread, it is explained...good seeing you again Det |
God I suck!
Pretty much. :p |
I've been listening to Blackwater Park on my car trip home, I think I'm in love with The Drapery Falls. Another one of my soft-spot songs.
|
The Drapery Falls was my first favorite on the album, but it slowly made it's way down the list to the other songs on the album.

Pure gold sir, pure gold |
My favourite song from Blackwater Park is Bleak.
|
Bleak and BWP are my favorites off the album.

Quoted for truth. Bleak is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs ever. |

I agree, it's a masterpeice. 1st Opeth song I heard. :thumb: |
Yeah, Darkness Of Greed is the only one here who doesn't realize its greatness.
|
I agree, it's a masterpeice. 1st Opeth song I heard. :thumb:
That's certainly a good place to start. Everyone said Face of Melinda was their best, but I'm still convinced that Bleak is better. |
Well, 2nd best.
Black Rose Immortal cannot be beat. |
That's certainly a good place to start.
Everyone said Face of Melinda was their best, but I'm still convinced that Bleak is better.
Not heard that one. I've only heard the songs from the albums I have - (GR + BWP) (+Black Rose Immortal).
Well, 2nd best. Black Rose Immortal cannot be beat.
Now you see that's the weird thing. The first 2 Opeth songs I downloaded were Bleak and Black Rose Immortal. And to be honest, I hated BRI at 1st, although it was my 1st Opeth experience. It was Bleak that actually got me to buy the albums I have. To be fair, I don't think I've ever listened to BRI all theway through, so I will have to give it another try. |
Well, 2nd best.
Black Rose Immortal cannot be beat.
Ahhh, the song off of Morningrise? I haven't heard anything off of that album yet, but it got a 5 star rating on sputnik. |
Well, 2nd best.
Black Rose Immortal cannot be beat.
Good song, but I think Advent, Nectar, and To Bid You Farewell are the highlights Morningrise. |
I agree, it's a masterpeice. 1st Opeth song I heard. :thumb:
Those songs almost always end up being favourites :) One of the reasons I love The Drapery Falls, it was one of the first few I heard. I must admit though, I'm in love with Patterns In The Ivy 1 and 2, I think they're absolutely beautiful. |
Good song, but I think Advent, Nectar, and To Bid You Farewell are the highlights Morningrise.
I can understand Advent and TBYF, but Nectar? Come on, Black Rose Immortal and TNATSW are both better... ...IMO |
