That's a good point. I should adopt that philosophy.:p
Well she's stopped talking to me, so whatever. I never have things like that happen to me, so it caught me off gaurd. I only have a few people who I ever talk to, and none of them have issues like that...
At least you don't talk to me on a regular basis then :p.

Permanent Solution 11-03-2005 08:45 PM
I've talked through a couple people on this forum about stupid crap like that.

What'd it teach me?

Dude, I'm right here...you don't have to dance around using names :p

:(

DJ Ducksauce 11-03-2005 08:45 PM

I doubt that there are many people who actually cut themselves. Most I think want attention.

New name/location/maybe ship name-Miranda/Haushinka/Vheissu

B 11-03-2005 08:46 PM

Poeple cut themselves to get the attention. Only if they fail to get it while saying they'll cut themselves.
That's a good point. I should adopt that philosophy.:p
The last time someone IMed me about being depressed, I sent them a Big D and The Kids Table song and then blocked them.

Because really, there is no better cure for the blues than the Big D.
Poeple cut themselves to get the attention. Only if they fail to get it while saying they'll cut themselves.
Cutting releases hormones that focuses on the physical pain rather than emotional pain.

Some people have chemical imbalances that make them depressed all the time. It is not under their control.

So those people cut because they'd rather the physical pain to the chemical indused emotional pain.

Or something. Vince explained it to me one time. It's all crap to me, though.

I know at least two who have, and I don't know many people.

Haha at Big D, good call.

I can't recall what the name of the released chemical is, but it's what dulls pain so like when you get a real bad cut you don't notice. I want to say amphetamines, but I'm not sure.

But yeah, basically the physical pain is easier to deal with than the emoional pain, and plus it releases chemicals to dull that pain to boot.

DJ Ducksauce 11-03-2005 08:53 PM

Wow. I didn't know any of that.

B 11-03-2005 08:54 PM

Vince: I agree completely.

Indeed.

Permanent Solution 11-03-2005 08:58 PM

Yeah, it's good to be knowledgeable about what's wrong with you *shrug*

I can pretty much peg any depressed person after a few conversations with them, it's easy to recognize like people heh. But real depressed people tend not to lash out for attention except as a last resort. So if someone is talking about being depressed with you and asking for help, they're not really depressed, or they're so depressed they're probably suicidal, and you have to figure that out from how well you know them, bascially. A lot of depressed people never reach out at all though.

That's why I don't know that I really buy the whole thing. Like I said, I don't know this girl personally, but it seems unlikely that she was for real.

I really need a break from all the bizarre things that have gone on in my life lately. I think AIM is a very bad thing. :-\

Coheed and Cambria tomorrow night should be a good distraction.

I have mine set to "You can't IM me if you aren't on my buddy list". That way I don't get messages from bullcrap people like the chick that IMed you.

It's sad because it's true. Internet has an inordinate concentration of depressed people. Musicians are more prone to it too (or rather depressed people are often into music), so this site is way over average concentration. :-\

It's a good and bad thing. Good because I like helping people, bad because when I exhaust my self past capacity I still get pushed, and then bad things happen. Like seeing counselors. God that was dumb /probably only Jon remembers when I did that

Ohh, that'll be fun.

Mine is 64 friends, 4 college friends, 1 family contact, 50 mx kids

I need to do that. I keep getting IM'ed by people that I know for a fact I've never given my screen name to.

I have like 5 friends from school and 30 MXers on my buddy list.

One day cbmartinez will be in that musicianforums definition.

I remember when Dan saw counselors.

You never mentioned that to me though. :(

I'd think you'd know more about yourself than any shrink would. (and I mean you specifically, not people in general)

You should be Chris.

You could go under the section entitled "MX Scene Kids".

Just Kidding. :p

That's why I changed my screen name from Bleedthesky to BridgeToSolace a while ago. Too many people I didn't know, or didn't want to talk to, where getting my screen name.

Now only trusted friends and random strangers on the internet know it.
