why are you guys vegans/vegetarians
I don't like the idea of eating meat. I think it's unfair to eat something that's lived x amount of years, just so I can spend 30 minutes eating it's corpse. |

Thats how the cycle of nature is, though. Animals eat animals. I don't think the time it was alive is really important. |
why are you guys vegans/vegetarians
I don't think its right for an animal's purpose in life to be regulated to torture and to take that life away for my selfish needs. To me there's nothing "natural" about having a pig's ears cut off and for it to live in cramp dark spaces. It also isn't natural to cage an animal with its head cut open in the name of "progress". The idea of meat being alive at one point and me eating a corpse isn't appealing to my taste. I also think that using animal skin for fashion purposes is incredibly sickening. To have animals suffer, killed, mutilated for my benefit is a moral crime to me. |
humans have the ability to contemplate their actions and their nature and are able to transcend instincts or patterns of behavior that involve violence against other living things. this is what separates us from and invalidates the 'humans are animals' argument. all living things deserve a certain quality of life. plus its much better for the environment and your health (if you eat right).

There are absolutely no downsides to eating a limited amount of meat. At all. Of course humans are animals. Anyone who denies this is fooling themselves. We're just smarter. And yeah, I'll agree that places like America eat way too much meat and it does take a toll on the environment. However, I do not see anything morally wrong with the act of consuming meat. Life and nature is hierarchical. I do think animal conditions should be reformed, though. Plus all the chemicals they pump into meat can be bad. |

I'm not going to try and convince anyone to eat meat or anything, that's your own choice, but I don't think eating meat is really a bad thing at all. That said, I've cut back significantly on my meat eating in the last year and I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up a vegetarian in the near future. |

I just see a natural order to nature. Those that are more sophisticated are higher up on the ladder. An amoeba, for example, is not our equal. However, that does not mean that its OK to abuse anything. |
Alright, then I agree with that. It's just that the words 'life is hierarchical' could easily be twisted to mean something entirely different than 'humans are above amoeba.'

So I'm guessing you're against me owning a rabbit-fur coat then?
He's someone who has been posting here for a couple years that we've all become familiar with. I legit have no clue who you are though.
I am Aaron. I've long read P/HC but rarely joined in discussions till recently. It should be noted that I hardly every say anything sincerely and I'm normally just posting for lols when at work. |
Rabbit-fur?
|
Yeah. Well, it's a lot of rabbits' fur, not some huge big one's pelt.
|
Seems like a strange choice in this day and age.

I only really wear it to fancy-dress parties, or when I'm back in the Mutterland. |
*head explodes*
|
you love it.
|
i don't see why people get so bent out of shape over other people being vegans, they're not all fixed gear riding, smelly dread haired, snooty dicks.
|
I don't mind them at all, I just have objections to people who [no matter the subject] are militant in their behaviours.
|
why? how does it affect you?
|
something cant bother you unless it affects you?
but it is annoying most of the time is all |
Just irritates me from a behavioural perspective. Means they're, to varying extents, closed to alternate opinions and viewspoints. If people are that dogmatic in their views, they should, on the flip side, expect alternate viewpoints to be returned to them; it's when they can't accept that people are different that I get annoyed.
something cant bother you unless it affects you?
but it is annoying most of the time is all
i mean it's just something that some people are always going to be, no matter what you say you're not going to change thier mind, and because you argue about it you just cause bullshit arguments that over time get ****ing ludicrous. it's like trying to explain to a nazi that jews are rad people and black guys aren't going to **** your mother to ruin the white bloodline. everyone has different perspectives and levels of commitment towards the the beliefs they hold true, sometimes it's best just to leave something alone. |
Yeah that's true dude, but it doesn't mean you should leave them to rant of whatever. I just personally find humour to be the best way to deal with people I perceive as being arrogant in their views. Rather than being aggressive like flesh et al, I'd rather call someone out in an amusing way.

Martin does sorta have a stick up his *** when it comes to this stuff tbh.
|
idk i just think i have a perfectly fine justification to get annoyed by militant vegans or anybody with a stick up their *** really.
wtf did we both just use stick in the *** at the same ****ing time |
stick up the ***? the majority of this forum?
