Ahab are really good, one of the best funeral doom bands.

Just got [I]The Call of the Wretched Sea[/I].

I'm digging it.

I've been meaning to try that one again. I heard it a long time ago before I was ever into any other kinds of doom besides traditional and was a bit bored by it. But now it has a greater chance of clicking with me.

Ahab is a great starting point for getting into funeral doom. If you like it be sure to also check out Mournfull Congregation.

Doomshine are ok but they're the sort of band that I stick firmly in the second tier of doom. It's like they have all the right elements - decent vocals, good production, doomy riffs etc - but it never quite gels together. It's like they're missing something - a spark or something. Nothing I can put my finger on but they're a million miles behind Solitude Aeturnus, Solstice, While Heaven Wept etc.

I agree with Jondur about Doomshine. I thought it was good, but it didn't really blow me away.
