I just made $563 selling homemade tie-dye and pins at a hippie fest.
How much money did you spend on tie-dye materials?

I hope all this money is going towards perpetuating your art, instead of something silly, like buying an iPod.

POINTLESS5448 09-11-2006 05:04 PM

hopefully it will go towards making an altoids ipod like that other kid!

I save my money. Never something silly like an ipod. The silliest thing I considered buying was a moped, which would likely be the most advanced form of transportation I ever purchase.

The materials weren't all that expensive, I guess. We've had the dye for a couple of years now, and we have some of it given to us. We often use used clothing items, or buy discounted clothes to dye. We're thrifty. And our thriftyness allows me to sell my clothes at a fairly cheap price.

coheneran 09-11-2006 09:14 PM

Cool. This place you live at (Aracadia?) sounds seriously hippy-infested. Sounds awesome.

Arcadia? You must have me confused with someone else.

Michigan. In the US.

coheneran 09-12-2006 08:10 AM

Bleach and respray?

I'm gonna try and make a stencil of a Da Vinci drawing. This one first: http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/vinci/vinci.disciple.jpg

plebeian scum 09-12-2006 09:37 PM

I'm going to make a Mark Mallman shirt for my friend. Hoping to do it by friday.

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000GIWGOO.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V63313409_.jpg

iam2000pounds 09-12-2006 10:12 PM

That looks like it will be hard.

plebeian scum 09-13-2006 03:42 PM

It'll be simplified obviously. I'm just going to do the head and "Mark Mallman" below that, I'm thinking.

The lettering is basically stencil ready. The only part I'm a little worried about is the forehead, plus I'm not sure whether I should attempt the shading with the hair and glasses.

Jono9119X 09-16-2006 07:38 PM

what is the best website, to get punk band stencils.

i hope to get like 3 white shirts, 5 black shirts, and use spray paint and spray over the stencil, and make my own shirts.

Spray painting white onto a black shirt is just gonna bleed like all hell. Don't bother. Just stick with the black on white.

BCT 09-17-2006 01:02 AM

Tomorrow I am going to make a keg tap with like 4 tubes come off of it. Pointless just gave me a bunch of differnet types of xacto knifes and blades fo my birthday I am pretty ****ing excited to start a new stencil and i am going to make a silk screen soon but i don't really know how.

Jon 09-17-2006 09:10 AM

Here is my new Cockney Rejects vest.

Its so sloppy that its almost good.

:upset:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y194/jondz3003/IMGP0029.jpg

Also, here's a vest I did a while ago. Its dirty and smells of alcohol. It has safety pins and lipstick marks that come and go. Notice my lack of blank clothes, and lack of colours of fabric paint.

Spraypainting bleeds too much, acylic is better.

what do you mean bleeds, like it goes out of the stenciled part?

also, does anyone have a screename, mines fadetoblack6263, jsut to talk about this kinda diy stuff, i got some questions...

mullets suk 09-17-2006 07:28 PM

i was just wondering what you guys think about this shirt im making. I smudged it a little, and i dont know weather i should try covering up the messed up parts, and run the risk of ruining it more, or leaving it as is.

Since it's the black that messed up, it might be hard to fix. But I think it looks good anyway.

NakedRaygun872 09-18-2006 04:29 AM

I'll post some of the DIY turbo kits and random things I've made by welding. It's too late to take some pictures right now.

Seriously pick up a simple and cheap buzzbox. You guys will be suprised on how much you can actually use it.

What's a buzzbox?

Big protest coming up, does anyone know an efficient way to make two-colour flags without a sewing machine? I need to make as many as possible.

Jon 09-18-2006 11:25 AM

one colour flag + spraypaint?

I just found out that one of my classes (print making) is basically screenprinting.

Its going to be so good.

And dude, I think its Tuesdays, 4.30-7 (but will have to check) theres extra screenprinting workshops. Doing textiles and stuff.

I have a dream that one day I won't make a crappy t-shirt :cool::upset:

Other than applying the emulsion to the screen and exposing it for the right time, its hard to mess up screen printing. I make new designs with emulsion all the time :D Good luck!

POINTLESS5448 09-18-2006 03:29 PM

mullets: that shirt is sick just leave the smudge it small so it doesnt ruin the shirt. if anyone notices just be like yeah i messed up making it and theyll be all oh you made that thats so awesome. hopefully it will go something like that.

Ender_ 09-18-2006 04:26 PM

Yeah, my experience is that it goes outside the fabric more than acrylic and takes a lot more to look solid than acylic.

I use the technique here (but I cut the freezer paper in an 8x10 sheet so I don't have to trace it from printer paper and can just print it):

AIRIC 09-18-2006 05:48 PM

today in the car me and my mom saw this girl with a shirt that said 'on drugs'.
