Jazz should almost never be included in any extreme genre lexicon

I get what you're saying though. The label is hard to see as anything other than negative when
1) It's associated with a lame fashion distinction
2) It's associated with bands that generally aren't good. At all.

Still you can't take associations so clearly, I mean, Protest the Hero are often associated with awful, awful bands. I mean ****, they're touring with Devil Wears Prada.

Sometimes associations just have to be ignored when looking at whatever is in question, yknow?

LifeInABox 11-23-2007 09:23 AM

True, and Between The Buried And Me is touring with August Burns Red and Behold...The Arctopus and are soon to be on tour with Dream Theater and Opeth. Another perfect example.

masscows 11-23-2007 09:29 AM

Except Dream Theater and Opeth are actually good...

no one appreciated this play one words?

Tyler 11-23-2007 09:31 AM

Well, Opeth is.

It isn't a matter of subjective "goodness", it's an issue of a classification not being justifiably negative via association.
no one appreciated this play one words?
I did, I just didn't want to take this thread off topic as it has a tendency to.

LifeInABox 11-23-2007 09:38 AM
Except Dream Theater and Opeth are actually good...
Not really, but that's not really the point either.
Not really, but that's not really the point either.
LifeInABox 11-23-2007 09:41 AM

Right, that's why I said that's not the point either.

No I know, I was just re-enforcing your re-enforcement.

I'm in a logical truth and functional logic class, so I'm trying to keep my brain awake between examples

LifeInABox 11-23-2007 09:54 AM

Aright I gotcha :p

Go buy the new between the buried and me cd, listen from front to back, and tell me the band isn't good.... Actually wait, buy either of the 2 cd's before this one and try and say that.

ONE QUESTION!!! is As I Lay Dying wat u consider screamo? just because it has religious views in their music? because i have been told by people who i beleive hav a very narrow mind on metal that this band is a crapy scream band and is no where near metal? and sugestions on wat genre they rele fall under?

Such would be blasphemy.

And FatPete, that was a good play on words, I just didn't pick it up the first time I read it.

...Most people here consider them metalcore, don't have issues with their religion and from what I've read, like them.

THANK YOU!!! it really urged me to find this out when a person who says knows almost everything about metal said they were a shitty screamo band

illpressureurhinges1 11-23-2007 04:13 PM

Well then that person is an idiot who doesn't seem to know much about metal because As I Lay Dying are one of the frontrunners of the metalcore scene.

Yes they would have but that's besides the point.

Metal Blade is a major label; they will sign anything they think will sell albums, just like any other major label.

masterchaos 11-23-2007 04:21 PM

Alaska is my favorite album from them.

The Number 12 is way too melodic to even be considered scenegrind.
