Look at the bass tabs, they're even worse.

NOBODY has that higher bassline in the chorus, except Tooltabs. I'd never heard it till they pointed it out, I assumed he was always following Adam, but apparantly not.
Now that we have a website up.. Im thinking about posting vids showing how I play Tool songs, which is really different than most of the tabs....

There is a part of stinkfist that I can figure out. The bridge. I know the first part, but not the second chord. It sounds really wierd. Everyone has

---------
--------
---------
-0--------
-2-------
-0--------

or some variation but Im convinced its way higher on the fretboard.

Dr. Jake Destructo 04-12-2005 11:07 PM

bah that's an ugly chord. What is it a D5..something?

edit: oops brain fart. Its only an em7 when tuned to e. duh. I think it would be a d6

corporalclegg 04-12-2005 11:47 PM

what kind of distortion pedal does adam use.

TheMachineRagesOn 04-13-2005 01:04 AM

hehe just downloaded a funny bootlegged vid off winmx, has a tool doing a show (dont know were or when) and about 3/4 through the way of pu**** a fan gets on stage and goes to hug maynard, but instead maynard hip throws him to the ground gets him into a choke hold and keeps on singing (perfectly too all the while choking this wanker. is a funny watch if you can find the file, or already have it.

I think its called Tool.pu****.(maynardfightsfan) or something..

corporalclegg 04-13-2005 02:01 AM

yeah, that video is great, maynard doesn't give a fvck.

It's a few songs down..."Noitisopsid", "Disposition" spelled backwards to fool the Soundclick people.
Well, that's a pretty cool take of disposition. I think you may have inspired me to give it a try. The only other Tool songs I have in my bass repetoire are Intolerance and 46&2, so it's about time I add something from Lateralus.

And as an aside: I listened to a few of the other tracks you had listed there, and the one titled "My solace in Requiem" kind of freaked me out. It sounds almost exactly like something I came up with on the bass a few weeks ago.

Disposition isn't hard if you have the right settings to play it, and I do. In fact, I have recorded a cover of it, though I took a little license with it at times, cause I wanted to...

Well that confirms what I thought, that you can play some sweet sweet Tool.

Mind if I d/l and use it as a backing?

joemarsh 04-13-2005 05:46 AM

He uses the boss metal zone.

I suppose i should ask too, though asking is just an afterthought :p / :upset:

Darkness 04-13-2005 06:18 PM

I want to use it to. lol

dUSK 04-13-2005 07:13 PM

As though we all didn't just take it anyway... but it does seem polite to ask his permission to use it. Perhaps SonorKen could record a backing track for Disposition as well, then we'd really have something. :D

Of course, thats if he's still around, I haven't seen him in ages.

butch_man 04-13-2005 07:18 PM

This is pretty lame but my math teacher introduced me to TOOL. They are really that great.

dUSK 04-13-2005 07:20 PM

What's that supposed to mean?

Darkness 04-13-2005 07:25 PM

Teachers aren't aloud to like tool?

dUSK 04-13-2005 07:27 PM

That's not what I mean. It just that he said it's lame that a teacher introduced him to Tool, and that they are really that great. I kinda see how this can both a good or sarcastic remark, and I'd like to know which way I should have interpreted his post.

Darkness 04-13-2005 07:30 PM

I donno if its sarcastic... and I'm sure he thinks its good because he got Tool out of it...

dUSK 04-13-2005 07:31 PM

As most people would, but the world sure does have some strange people...

Huber 04-13-2005 07:45 PM

My Drum teacher got me into Tool.

Is he sarcastic?

Or is he serious?

It's all a mystery.

Edit:
I forgot I had a real question. Heh.

I've been getting really confused about APC. Whos is this random girl in the photos? It's been boggling my mind.

True dat... :)

deathmetal 04-13-2005 07:59 PM

TOOL KICKS ***!!!! They are the one band i have heard on where you can actually put your own feelings into the lyrics and songs! Like one of my friends said, "Tool is artistic, they dont even need to make sense"

deathmetal 04-13-2005 08:01 PM

tool rocks, but i dont really like apc. i dunno why, but there's something about them that doesnt clash with me. i like few songs, but not near as much as i like the tool songs!

Magicaltroll 04-13-2005 08:03 PM

The don't need to make sense huh?

Tool doesn't make sense? I can make sense of every Tool song, and make sense of it in atleast 2 ways for each song.

But yeah, Tool kicks ***.

Darkness 04-13-2005 08:05 PM

Lets not ask...
I've been getting really confused about APC. Whos is this random girl in the photos? It's been boggling my mind.
In what photos? If you're talking about earlier photos, the girl is Paz, their ex-bassist. Not sure if that's what you meant, though.

Huber 04-13-2005 08:11 PM

The pic was on launch. I didn't think she was the bassist because Twiggy was in the picture. Everyone is in the picture actually, with the exception of Maynard.

Kage 04-13-2005 08:18 PM

I just looked through all the pictures on launch and failed to see the one you're talking about.

Huber 04-13-2005 08:19 PM

I believe it's the last one.

http://music.yahoo.com/ar-295841-photos-131276-A-Perfect-Circle

I think that's it

Edit: Bleh, not exactly that page, but the very last one.

Kage 04-13-2005 08:22 PM

I'm pretty sure that's Paz.

Unless you're talking about Maynard--he's in the backon the right
